Caught on a business trip, that just got prolonged, without my kindle, I had to use my IPad for reading, where I luckily had this little gem I bought last year.

Interesting as always and a good warmup for Kevin’s new novel.

Decided it was time for a reread - after a false start yesterday with an abridged version (hate those), i'm back on track with Scott Bricks competent narration.

Took a little time to get into, but now it’s quite good, feels a little like one of the late Narnia books, in a good way.

Now that it’s more about people than hockey (don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot of hockey) it’s quite captivating

Finally turned the 50% marker and the characters are beginning to be interesting..

But OMG there’s so much hockey in this book and it’s so not interesting

Bill Bryson as we know him - an endless number of small side stories about the people populating natural history - but with an enduring fascination of the world and how it works

Still interesting second time around, but not as overwhelming. I have read better novels by Bryson and other, more thorough Natural history books since I read this the first time.

Really struggling with this one, it’s well written but it’s just a world I have a hard time connecting to or even just understand. Decided to carry on and treat is as a study of the species sports fanatics.

Even though it's about organized sports and fandom, which i simply don't get, I hope there's enough about people to compensate

I’m still in the part I read last time around, before DNF the novel, so far it’s Ok, although weaker than Rama 2.

If you read The first 3 volumes you know what to expect, solid craftsmanship and entertaining new angles. And something as rare as a series with a continuous storyline.

Better than i remembered it from way back..

When you get over the fact that it's not a remake of "Rendezvous with Rama", but a novel in it's own right using the same setting, then it quite enjoyable.

Classic Greek mythology told at eye level, with a very personal human angle, there are God’s all over the place but it’s treated as a very natural everyday thing like rain or wind.

Loving every moment of it.

A fascinating insight into a true genius's life, helped along by a very enthusiastic author who clearly admires Einstein.
Would have been interesting to see how the pacifist Zionist Einstein would react to the conduct of the Israel of today.

Newer thought the master of LONG novels would be so brialliant at short stories, but then again it's Peter Hammilton !.

Read 4 of the 7 stories and they are more or less all brilliant in their own way.
