Stephenson's fascination with Role-Playing Games has never been more obvious, it's brilliant but a little more unpolished that that later "Reamde"

mesmerizing, harsh in it's brutal reality, truly beautiful in other places and a story that opens new layers all the time like a Russian doll

Early Stephenson, a little like Snow Crash but more assured and structured.

It’s a little like watching LOTR, just when you think a battle scene cannot continue any longer, it just does.

A strange concept with a dog narrator, which works surprisingly well, the story slowly grows on you and becomes more and more intriguing

Slower going and somewhat more “serious” than the earlier novels, but not in any way boring.

Still amazing, but going slower than the previous novels.

Normally a fantasy series uses a lot of time up-front to do world building and then takes off on adventures and action, Mistborn managed to establish an amazing level of world building pretty quickly in volume one, but it's like we are getting all the remaining info dumped here in the middle of volume 3 and it drags the story somewhat down.

Far more characterisation and relationship analysis than we are use to in fantasy novels, not that it makes it a bad novel it’s just different.

Listened to 14 hours in a row, while painting the house, had to admit I forgot the painting once in a while, it’s so good.

Pendergast and Laura Hayward teaming up, I didn’t see that one coming.

Amazing, really got a “wheel of time” vibe, maybe also because Michael Kramer is narrating both series.

Still liked Elantris better, so far.

A Wild ride - impossible to put down, read most of the book though the night and only stopped to get a a little sleep before starting work today.

After a somewhat weak novel "the wheel of Darkness" we are back on track with classic Pendergast, a real page-turned.

Continuing in the well known Dresden style, it's pretty good, but after 5 years and a really strong ending in Skin Games, i had expected more of a fresh start and some changes.

Just as good as Cinder, It's a sequel and we are following the same storyline, but it's also a new story with a new theme.

Amazing - The world building stands so clear and crisp from page one. It's easy to see why he was chosen to complete Wheel Of Time, when reading Mistborn.

Still interesting second time around, but also a little repetitive.

Re-Reading to get into the mood again before tackling the new novel which is bought and ready to go.

Have to admit I have forgotten a lot of the details, it has been 5 years since I read it after all, but its like riding a bicycle, you never really forget the moves.

After a total Corona breakdown in my reading,I needed something light to get me going,this seems to do the trick.
It’s classic Heinlein you know what you are getting and it’s solid.

Either the Discworld novels gradually becomes more and more political satire, or i'm just getting older and understanding more of the references.

Pratchett's take on among other things, the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy in the army, is brilliant, funny and thought provoking at the same time.

Simply brilliant so far, I had never heard about Mitchison before, but there was a reference in the likewise brilliant "This is how you loose the time war" so i had to pick it up.
It's something of a rarity, no e-book exists and my library had to refer the request to the central storage from where i got and old dusty version.

Completed the Titlle story, Wau King can really tell a story, got the strange vibe that the narrator was Morgan Freeman.

It starts out as Lost Horizons, moves on to a Agatha Christie whodunnit on a cruise ship and now it’s all Pendergast, Brilliant

Simply brilliant - you can't beat the classics

Read this many year ago, but only remembered the basics, one thing that i had forgotten was that the "Main" story of Odysseys travels first starts a quarter into the story.

Art for arts sake...
Feels like the author is forcing a style which feels pointless and makes it hard to read.
Really have to force myself to continue, will soldier on because I hate to DNF books and it might click at some point.

Quite good, feels more polished than volume one, it probably also helps that the characters has been established already.

"Looking for Jake" 4.5 stars
Classic Mieville - one long letter to Jake chronicling the breakdown of London, true to form it's difficult to discern of the Breakdown is in the real world or within the author.

"Foundation" 3.5 stars
A tale of a man haunted by his war time memories, which haunts him

"The Ball Room" 4.5 stars
A classic horror story, one of the most straight forward Mieville stories i have read.

Classic pendegast (just without Pendergast)

Interesting and fast paced so far, but probably more Baxter than Clarke.
