Rules of Civility
A classical tale, brilliantly told, with reminiscence of “the great Gatsby” or “Random harvest”.

Malta & Kreta, a deep well, a missing cat and a brother in law, reality that feels dreamlike and dreams that feels like reality.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane
When i originally read this one, I was less than impressed, maybe because I expected something like America Gods. After several stellar reviews from friends, especially of the audiobook version read by Gaiman himself, I decided to try it again.
And what a difference, the narrative flows, it’s simply magic, I feel a 4.5 star review coming up.

The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3)
Still awesome - at the second last final chapter "The Scouring of the Shire" which many see as an anticlimactic after the big battle.
But each time i read it it makes more sense, to start and end with the small live in the Shire and the emphasis on nothing staying the same after the end of the third age, not even in the Shire.

The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1)
Just left Bree, always loved the meet-up at the Prancing pony, but it still annoys me that Tolkien let Aragon walk around, in dark and dangerous places, with a broken sword, that's one change that made sense in the movie.

Barrow-downs: I always felt that the part of the journey up until Bree, is more like a teenage boys cross country excursion, than a real quest, which provides a nice transition from the cozy shire to the big dangerous world.

Just as wondrous and engaging as the first volume.
Chet Williamson’s narrations is just as the first volume a huge part of the experience with his insistent and living style.

For many years I skipped this one because I thought it to be a rip-off of Blish’s “A Case of Conscience”.
What a mistake, Sparrow is really unique and captivating.

Pleasant surprise! ! - was beginning to worry if the plot was too simple, then realised I was listening to part1 of the audiobook, so I have another 6 hours of wonderful, blissful Dickens still to come.

Following some of the themes from "Bleak House", no love lost for lawyers or bankers here, but painted with a broader historic brush and with a more somber muffled tone. Loving every minute of it !.

Not at all what I expected but fascinating anyway, it’s very “British” and not in a bad way.

Brilliant, but then again it is Dickens so I didn’t expect less.
It’s all here, the flowering language and the quirky characters but also a more melodramatic sense than I have seen in the other novels.

How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need
Wonder who it's aimed at - Most people who believes in climate change, knows more about it than Gates already - and those who have chosen not to believe, will not be persuaded by a man with Gates reputation on the web.

A lot of fun - surprisingly little sci-fi - and a lot of human relations.
Other has remarked that it's very much "Heinlein light". I agree that i has some of the Heinlein look-and-feel (just without the nudity and political manifests) but it's also very much its own.

More bleak and depressing realism than I expected from Tyler, but also strangely captivating, it’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion, you know it’s not going to end well but can’t look the other way
