First 25 % i thought it was groundhog life, entertaining but nothing new, it then it expands and takes off in a whole new direction, brilliant

Back on track with Daniel Waterhouse, continuing the storyline which started in the first part of the very first volume, just loving it.

Maybe the one book in the series that don't get a straight 5 star rating, there is something about the structure of the narrative that puts me off.

Oh my g** , it's so depressing.

It's only because i loved the Kite Runner so much that i continue and maybe because the writing is good.

But given what has happened in that region of the world even since this book, it's hard to be optimistic.

Picking up more or less directly from the first volume, fast paced and well written. No big surprises but entertaining.



"Don't fix it it ain't broken"

Apparently it's impossible for Connie Willis to write a bad book.

If you are into her style you feel immediately at home, it's so entertaining and addictive, you just want it to go on forever.

Picking up directly from the previous book, we are obviously working towards a breaking point or conclusion from various sides.
This time we get a little more insight into the past that created the whole mess with regular back-flashes.
All in all aiming for a sold 5 star

Still captivating, it's like Harry Dresden suddenly growing a poetic vein, the language is fluent and imaginative and the story is evolving and growing all the time.

Resurrected sorcerers in London, a wildly imaginative language, so far I'm hooked.

Worst audio adaption EVER, have to put this on hold and read as e-book instead

Classic Reynolds, space opera on a very grand scale, spanning centuries and galaxies.

Incredible how much i missed the first time i read this, it's like meeting old friends and noticing how much they (or you) have grown while apart.
I can not recommend this epic work enough, it's a big endeavor, but it's worth the effort.

The Crystal Spheres was brilliant - the others up to now feels more like leftover ideas for novels.

Not sure i'm going to colplete this

So Eliza found her "Nemesis" and plans to kill him and Jack are embarking on a daring endeavor including the same deadly foe.
And all the while the royalty and natural philosophers of the area are parading around as background decorations.
Just love it !

Still stunning - and something as rare as a female main character

Simply amazing, the story flows effortless and expands gradually, this is an author in total control.

Started this with some reservations, given the brilliant first volume, could this really live up to the expectations ?.

The short answer is yes.

Just as in the first book, everything is approached in a slightly different way than any other Sci-if novel I have ever read, there is a slight Murakami feel to some of it.

The story just grows and grows, wonderful world building but keeping the focus on the characters. I see a solid 5 star coming up.

Not a groundbreaking story, we have seen most of it before in other disguises, but...

The narrative is different it's up close and personal, you really feel with the characters and just wants to learn more.

So glad I stuck with this one, 25 % though it suddenly became interesting, beginning to understand why this is an award winner.

Slightly annoyed, I know its allegedly very clever to springe a lot of techtalk over the story to give it an air of advanced tecno society, but this is a little to much and i'm beginning to suspect that the style are not covering a clever story, but that the styre are the story.....

The above club kept popping into my mind.....

This is so not what I expected, not like anything else I have read by Silverberg, I'm not sure I would even categorise it as sci-fi.

But it's addictive, to some extent I feel a little like Selig in the story, I'm not sure I like what I'm reading but I'm to fascinated to stop.

And 60 % in a few hours talks its own language
