Jex (jexball) | 14 comments 30.7 - Delicious Dee's task: Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover

Coin Flip: 1 head, 1 tails

Cover I liked: Burnt Children by R.E. Washington - The cover is eye catching, the bold colors on the white background. Made me want to learn more. The book was every bit as good as it's cover.

Cover I didn't like: One Day by David Nicholls - Cover is boring and the shade of orange was a turn off. Just not a fan of it. Funny, the book turned out to be pretty boring as well.

20.2 - Rookie on Top - Connie's task: The Nutcracker
"The Nutcracker" ballet is a holiday favorite for many families. It can involve casting hundreds of people, from young children to older adults, in a professional production. This task involves auditioning for one of these roles. No dancing is required, just read one book from the following options:

1. Clara and Fritz, the Stahlbaum children
Read a book where a child is a main character. For the purposes of this task, a child is defined as someone who is 18 years old or younger. Examples: The Hunger Games, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. In this book Harry Potter is the main character and he is eleven.

Sheila (sheilaj) | 2221 comments 10.2 As You Like It:

The Simple Truth by David Baldacci

The shelf that was used for the recommendation was my New York Times # 1 books shelf. I didn't feel this was one of Baldacci's better novels.

25.1 - Rachel Lee's task: Where Have All the Flowers Gone?

Marigold (pain and grief): Read a book where death is central to the plot (murder mysteries would work well here).

Too Many Murders by Colleen McCullough

Death was a huge part of this book as it starts with 12 separate murders. I had wanted to read another book by Colleen McCullough ever since reading the Thorn Birds but just hadn't gotten around to it.

AND

Sweetbriar (simplicity): Read a book with a one word title. Subtitles may be ignored.
