The Darkest Night - Two Sisters, a Brutal Murder, and the Loss of Innocence in a Small Town by Ron Franscell. This is the edition I read -- it has 282 pages, though Goodreads does not record this. The edition with an altered title (which takes away the conjunction) -- The Darkest Night: The Murder of Innocence in a Small Town -- has a recorded 320 pages. There is another edition with another title -- Fall: The Rape and Murder of Innocence in a Small Town -- which has the conjunction but not the superlative. Amazon has most editions having both the superlative and the conjunction. I read the first edition I linked, so I'm counting 282 pages for my own records.
