New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Karen Hawkins writes novels that have been praised as touching, witty, charming, and heartwarming. A native Southerner who grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee where storytelling is a way of life, Karen recently moved to frosty New England with her beloved husband and multiple foster dogs. The Dove Pond books are a nod to the thousands of books that opened doors to more adventures, places, and discoveries than she ever imagined possible. To find out more about Karen, follow her at:

The next book, A CUP OF SILVER LININGS (out in May), reveals a lot about Sarah and Blake. I'd like to tell you more, but I don't want to post any spoilers and ruin the book for you.
Karen Hawkins added a status update: I’ve been writing magic realism into my novels since my Talisman Ring series which came out about 15 years ago. THE BOOK CHARMER is my first contemporary women’s fiction/magic realism attempt and wow, did I enjoy creating Dove Pond. I enjoyed it so much that I went back to town, and am writing Ava Dove’s book right now, which will be called A CUP OF SILVER LININGS in honor of her specialty teas.

More of Karen's books…
“I’ve often thought it unfair that women are expected to stay at home when there’s a fight to be won. If a
woman has the strength to bear a child, she can swing a sword as well as any man.”
Karen Hawkins, How to Abduct a Highland Lord

“Love doesna always mean burning flashes o' passion. Sometimes, it's jus' the warmth o' yer hearts as they beat yer day together." ~Old Woman Nora to her three wee granddaughters on a cold winter's night.”
Karen Hawkins, Sleepless in Scotland

“As Jack began to climb the stairs, Fiona looked up at her new home. Five stories of stately mansion
rose above her head. Heavy molding around the large windows and doors bespoke a quality and
craftsmanship that was obvious even in the dim night. “Good God! It’s massive!”
Jack paused with his foot on the last step. “I do wish you’d keep those comments until we are in bed,
love. I would appreciate them all the more there.”
