Sandra | 25908 comments Hey, Team 4ce beat us, we're the 2nd team to get 3 stamps, so hurry up Scratch n'Sniff :)

Sorry to hear that Lethal, sounds nasty! Better watch where you're going in future. LOL

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Sorry to hear about your foot, Lethal. (LOL@Sandra!) Hope it heals quickly!

Dana (erato) | 922 comments OoooWWWWW-EEEE!! No bueno! Hope you have some horse pill sized pain killers. :)

Good grief LL, where are you hangin' out that you had the opportunity to step on a huge chunk of glass? A little light cat burglary on the side? (hehe) Should I be checking the local police reports for someone's PNR collection disappearing like mist into the night?

Lethal turns wide, innocent eyes at Dana and says, "Are you implying that I am a criminal?"

Lord no dear, only that you have fantastic taste (you are my friend after all) and you are a resourceful and determined girl. *wink*

OR...

A pandemic level strain of PNR/UF-itis Fever has broken out in your land. It is spreading unchecked and causing riots, the looting of bookstores, and librarians to hole up behind barred doors in fear of the 'paranormal-zomie-reading-nerds' that are running loose amongst them. This too, would account for the glass you stepped on. Was this the problem?

It is probably something totally benign and normal though because you are a good person and not a cat burgler. Although, you have to admit that this story I am concocting is way more exciting than, "Some jerk broke and beer bottle in the gutter and it cut through my flip-flip." LOL

(I am doing research online right now and my brain is firing at 'Warp 10 Scotty!" Please excuse my neurotic ramblings ladies.)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments ROFLMAO @ Dana! Your imagination puts my own to shame, girlfriend. Thank you very much for the laughs.

Thanks everyone. I'm afraid it's not as glamorous as Dana imagined. What happened was I broke a glass pot last week playing Betty Crocker. I thought I'd swept it all up but apparently not. So my dumbass is running downstairs for my morning cup of coffee (because I'm useless without a caffeine drip) & BAM! Stepped on this giant piece of glass hiding in the corner of the kitchen. I was dripping blood everywhere. It's funny, I was pretty calm about it because I've been getting nicks & bruises my whole life (because I'm a tomboy) but Caelen freaked the hell out. He called 911 before I could stop him & I ended up stuck in the hospital getting poked & prodded over a 1 1/2 inch deep, 3 inches long cut on my foot. *sigh* At least now I have an excuse to lay in bed all day.

message 357: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Hope Kimberly is OK after those splits. LOL.

And hope you get to read in bed Lethal, gotta be some compensation after gettin stuck in the hospital. :D

message 358: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments I do what I can deary. Glad to make you smile.

Duuuuuuude! (I grew up in the eighties, sorry.) That is a monster cut. :( I'm thinking that it didn't hurt much at the time, but will be screaming at you soon. Not. Fun. At. All. I am feeling for you! They say misery loves company right? To cheer you up I should then admit that I get to go to the gynocologist tomorrow!!!!! I know, I know, you all wish it was you, but no. I won the drawing so you will just have to wait your turn for your breezy-gowned, chilled-speculum, bare-@$$ed humiliation. I would love to say that that my 'poked and prodded' will be more fun than yours, but I am pretty sure you win this one LL. ;)

Hope you foot heals quickly! (I have a close friend who is a doctor and he says that margueritas are medicinal for foot injuries. He's a professional...you should listen to him.) *wink*

message 359: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments Kimberly, you are a spectacular cheerleader! (I would know, I used to be one. *blushes*) You rock! I'm inspired and invigorated to read. Whoot! We are so on this team. I know we can, I know we can, I know we can....

Careful with those splits girlie. Icing down your booty because you pulled a muscle is no fun! (Not that I have personal knowledge mind you.) ;)

message 366: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (k10bentley) | 422 comments Finished my paranormal: Evernight (Evernight, #1) by Claudia Gray . Three stars.

Review: It took me a little bit to get into the book, but once Bianca revealed she was a vampire, it got better. I think there was a bit too much "telling" rather than showing in the narration. This reminded me quite a bit of Hex Hall, but I know that Evernight came first. I'd like to read the next one, just to see where the story goes.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Yay for our new shelf! Woot woot! And congrats on finishing your paranormal book, Kristen! I hope you enjoy Wicked Lovely. I plan on reading the last book in that series next month. =)

I'm either going to read Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5) by Melissa Marr or The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan for YA Fantasy, since I'm planning on picking both up from the library next week for an April challenge. Sorry teammates, but because of that, I won't be able to start my YA book until April 1st. At least I've read all of my other BSB books, eh? =)

Good luck, everyone!

I HATED the The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan !!! It hurt so much! I was expecting something awesome...since I found it on a book store table advertising "If you like The Hunger Games, read these." I bought an autographed copy. I keep reading because I was expecting something to happen...alas...I was so disappointed that I wasted my time with it. Luckily, my bookstore buys them back, cuz I sold that bitch as soon as I was finished. Grrr....

If you pick it, I hope you have a different experience.

I'm getting really irritated with all these "The Next Hunger Games" sagas! They've been bad and disappointing.

Thanks for the heads up, Kristen! I've heard so many good things about this book that it's a relief to hear something bad. As for it being compared to "The Hunger Games" I added this book to my shelf way before I added THG & I only read that trilogy within the last two months. So I'm not expecting it to be as good. I just hope it isn't horrible.

message 378: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey you all. I feel so stupid, but I just realised that I've read another book for the paranormal shelf. I got the opportunity to read it for the publisher, so I didn't think about it being on the shelf, but it was! So I'll post it here now! Then I've also almost finished another publisher book that fits the free space and will hopefully post it some time tomorrow! Haven't decided which YA I will read yet though, so I'll have to come back with that decision. And I have started on the shifter book and will try my best to have it read as soon as possible!

Good news from my RL though, since I've finally come to a decision about what to do in the future and applied for a program at the university! Radiologic technologist, if anyone's curious. Feels good. :)

paranormal

Laird of Darkness by Nicole North
Finished: 20-03-2011
Rating: ★★★★

From the moment I read about this book, it sounded perfect for me. A Historical Romance filled with faeries and taking place in Scotland--can it be better? Because of my high expectations, I was a bit afraid to be disappointed, but I was pleasantly surprised! I admit that it took a few pages before I managed to really get into it, but after that I was quickly hooked.

Perhaps the world building, as well as the relationship between the main characters, might have needed a few more pages in order to really develop, but I have to say that I didn't mind that much at all. At least not while actually reading it. I was more disappointed over the fact that I wouldn't be reading more about the wonderful characters. Of course they are the type that I usually fall in love with; the so hot and misunderstood hero and clever as well as mentally strong heroine, who was like a breath of fresh air for both me and the hero. I also loved the way their relationship began and the fact that (of course) Alana was the future wife of Duncan's enemy. And of course, we can't forget that this story is smoking hot!

I would definitely recommend Laird of Darkness to readers of HR and/or PNR and I can safely say that I wouldn't hesitate to read more books by Nicole North!

message 380: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I got through 4 chapters of Clockwork Angel this weekend. I'm listening to the audioversion. I wish I had gotten it in print because the reader isn't very good. She's very flat and and monotone and pauses in weird places. But I really like the story so I'll stick wiht it. If I read anymore of the series, I'll get them in print unless the reader changes.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I listened to very little of Clockwork Angel today. But I should have it done before the next shelf is called.

I recently got hooked on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations show. So I spent my last few evenings watchign marathons of it on Travel Channel and Netflix.

I stopped into our local Borders closing sale (again) and picked up The Native Star (The Native Star, #1) by M.K. Hobson and The Spirit Lens (Collegia Magica, #1) by Carol Berg for 50% off.

LOVE Anthony Bourdain, Mary. He's a riot.

Kristen (k10bentley) | 422 comments I finished Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr . One star.

Review: I did not like this book at all. I didn't find any reason to care about the characters. There were too many characters with more than one name. I was truly disappointed, especially since I found out about this book through the House of Night series. I feel like I wasted my time. Yuck.
