Dana (erato) | 922 comments @ Rebecca: LOL, I love the pop-up book idea! the minute you said that all I saw in my head were those baseball cards where the 'action' changes when you tilt the card. Winnnnnnd up (to the left).....AND.....the pitch(to the right)! What are those things called?....(pause to Google)...aaahhhh, 'lenticular' photos. Bodice rippers with lenticular photos that dressed and undressed the heroine? Bank baby! Men would line up!

Lenticular cowboy(or insert fav male lead role here) photos that were scratch and sniff? Scrump-diddly-ump-tious!

@Kristen: You teach yoga? Duuuuude, you are hard core. I have participated in many athletic activities over the years with varying degrees of success but usually I do well. (Athlete in HS and then it morphs into other interests as you age.) Yoga however, chewed me up, spit me out in the gutter, stepped over my mangled carcass, and sneered as it flounced off! *Dana genuflects in awe of Kristen's yoga skills*

I don't own them either and it's making me a bit loony. I just reread the other 4 last week, but I am waiting (very, VERY patiently) for a copy from the library. As of today, there are 64 people waiting...but I am 1st in line!!! It's like Christmas Eve!

Does your local library carry the Fever books? Maybe if you put in for a copy now, you might get it in time to join in on the BOM discussions and stuff? :)

The problem is that you can stop yourself between books 3 and 4 and take a breather. Warning though, once you read 4 you are REALLY going to want to have SF on hand.

Oh well, if you and I never get our hands on SF, we can always earn the free space some other way!

So now come the moment where the crowd turns on me and I get stoned...or burned as a witch. Confession time....

Who is Bones?

I obviously haven't started this series, but from the way you are so casually referencing it, I am really missing out. Guide me 'o great and omnicient Judithe!

Bones is just the next best thing to bacon!

He's in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series.

Bacon? Seriously...he's that good? W.O.W.

These are on my lists so fear not, I'm on my way! Thanks for the nudge!

He's the best male character ever written. Or something like that, haha. You definitely should read it, Dana!

Haha, I'm sure we women wouldn't mind seeing the male characters from the books like that either... ;)

I like, I like! I'll add it to the list of suggestions.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Bones is better than bacon...unless he was covered in bacon. But he is some kind of awesome. I'm very annoyed with Cat these days & Bones & Tate are the only things keeping me from telling this series to kick rocks. *le sigh* He can do so much better than that psychotic bitch, Cat. Like me. Take me Bones, I'm yours!

I haven't read the latest C&B book, but I have faith in Bones. He'll always be my bacon.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Now I'll forever associate Bones w/bacon and vice versa. LOL!

message 65: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments LOL! Sandra, I like the name "Scratch & Sniff" but then again, I like all of the suggestions. The name of team will ultimately depend on which one the team members prefer the most.

I just re-read the rules for the free space and I'm glad I did because the book I picked was all WRONG!

It's alright. I found a book and the color coded list is back to normal.

@ Kimberly As long as the list is back to normal! I have to admit, I also suffer from the list-syndrome. Haha

@ Mary Oh, I can't wait! Haha, I'm always hoping to see an early posting. ;)

message 71: by Mary X (new)

LMAO!

Mary, I'm (im)patiently waiting for Sunday, as well. I even started a RS novel so I have more PNR/UF novels to choose from when we find out what the shelf is.

Team, just to clarify: Is it "Scratch & Sniff Cowboys" or "Scratch & Sniff"? I'd also a definite answer from each of you as to which name you'd like our team to be since it's getting closer to showtime.

message 74: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments I vote for Scratch & Sniff

message 75: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 02, 2011 03:36PM) (new)

I'm seriously starting to like the Scratch & Sniff name. Real fitting as well. ;) With or without Cowboys, doesn't really matter to me, but maybe it sounds better as a team name having 'Cowboys' in it? Oh well, I'm not that picky really. :)

message 76: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Thanks a bunch Kimberly & Rebecca! I'm okay with any of the choices being the offical name. I like them all.

message 77: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments The Bookshelf babes thing 'sounds' appealing (to the ear), but the name 'Scratch & Sniff' has true meaning! It's destiny!

I don't think the cowboy part is required. Even though it was cowboy scent that started this whole thing, I would say that this would be a benefit for any genre. ;P

I'm pretty sure that there has never been a hot male lead character (cowboy or not) that I haven't dreamt about sniffing. You know, in the warm spot on his neck, behind his ear, near his hairline....so you can feel the heat coming off his body and a few strands of hair tickle your cheek....Phew....is it hot in here? *Dana stands in front of the freezer with the door open*

Crap did I say all of that out loud? *blushes*

Sooooo, an-E-way, I vote for Scratch & Sniff. :)

message 78: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments Just think, when it's time to rumble, I mean start, our team name will sound great over the loud speakers:

ETA: I've added your name to the header, if it's wrong or changes, just holler.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :) Just waiting for everyone to stop by their team threads to say HI. Once everyone's shown up (on each team) or Sunday, whichever comes first (hopefully the first), I'll post the first shelf.

message 84: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Wow - that was a lotta "first"s. LOL! Sorry. I meant - Hopefully everyone will pop by their team threads before Sunday, so I can post the 1st shelf early. :D

message 86: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

...hmmm....would it be rude to PM everyone and beg them to pop on...only 26 hours and 20 minutes till the clock ticks over to Sunday...not impatient here, much!

message 87: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Judithe I was going to say the same thing-can we bug them please? pretty please?

message 88: by Mary X (last edited Mar 03, 2011 12:51PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Work was really, really slow today. And since I'm allowed to use the internet when it's slow (I work for my mother)-I've been shelving like crazy. I didn't plan to do anymore shelving. But I'm really bored. So I made myself a Bingo card (couldn't get the linked one to print) and some more shelves.

I better bring a book with me tomorrow since I'll be here by myself.

message 89: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Thanks, Steph! I think it's safe to say that "Scratch & Sniff" is going to be our official name.

Team, I sent Shannon a pm reminding her of BSB & asking if she was still participating. Hopefully she'll drop by soon to introduce herself.

Rumble, hehehehe, love that! Bring it on baby. :)

I just realized why I like this bingo idea so much. It reminds me of read-a-thons from when I was a kid. I sucks that this isn't done anymore! It is the only other version of 'competitive reading' that I have ever heard of.

There needs to be a game show for readers. Like Jeopardy or something......"Yes, Alex, I'll take Black Dagger Brotherhood for $800."

Wouldn't that be sweet?!?

Gettin' close to announcement time! :D

LOL! I love that!

If you're interested - There are read-a-thons held at "Cover-to-Cover" group and "Who's Your Author", although C2C has them rather frequently, as opposed to WYA who has had one so far, but will have more in the future.

I have another team challenge/game idea that's in the works for after R2 of Bingo. Figured we could play that next, then maybe R3 of Bingo. It's all hush-hush for now though. :)

message 93: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments One caveat...

Alex Trebek couldn't do it. It would need someone else to host it. Funny and irreverent.....like Joan Rivers. No, someone Brittish! The Brittish (the whole freakin' nation, imo) are experts at tongue in cheek innuendo and 'blatant subtlety' and would be exceptional for this.

Nope, lied. I know who would rock this. Megan Mullaly from Will & Grace. Perfect! So, once I get funding for my show, you guys want to be contestants?

I think grand prize should be all the free ARC's we ever want!

message 96: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments So what happens if there are people who never check in or don't check in by Sunday? Will they hold off on posting the first spot? Do we automatically lose for that person(s) not coming back? Or do they just get dropped off the game if they don't check in by a certain date?

Just wondering. My guess is they've probably just been too busy to come on during the week.

@ Steph: I'll definitely let you know as soon as I hear back from Shannon.

@ Mary: Hopefully Steph or one of the other mods will have an answer for you because I don't know. I'm sure Steph will still go ahead & post the first shelf on Sunday, even if every team member doesn't check in.
