Fall Down Laughing: How Squiggy Caught Multiple Sclerosis and Didn't Tell Nobody
I just finished Fall Down Laughing.....Excellent but you do have to get past the first 2 chapters of background on NY theater. Now back to Halfway to the Grave which I stopped reading for Fall Down. I am trying to juggle too many books at once.
Tried to post the link but goodreads now tells me there is no such book! HA! Endless malfunctions so I give up.

I cracked! I have to find out if Fantasy Lover is a funny as it sounds. However, currently I am trying not to buy any books so I ordered it from the library after first checking if there was a copy in my local branch. After seeing what is available in our local branch, I decided it was too late to worry about the young librarian's blushes anyway.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I downloaded the next in the series Night Pleasures! No will power whatsoever.
Still reading Stone of Tears, another whopper at 980 pages and I'm waiting for my copy of Shona McLeans Crucible of Secrets to arrive. I can't wait!
im currently reading the lost relic by scott mariani, well so far it has not really grapped my attention yet, i am debating whether to give up on it or not.

I've just finished The Remains of an Altar and I'm still deciding what to read next. I've narrowed it down to about ten possibles so far, but I just can't choose between them.
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane
I was just voting on a Halloween Listopia and saw this book which might be a good read for fall so I ordered it from the library. The reviews seem to swing wildly as some love and some hate it.
I also ordered a Stephen King I have never read as those are always good for a fall scare.

Finished Caleb's Crossing and am now in the middle of Death and the Penguin by Andrey Kurkov. A really terrific read.
I'm reading White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi. It's an interesting story - changing narrators keeps me on my toes!
Cashelmara
I read half this years ago but now I am into the new part I didn't get to. I am enjoying it altho I hate some of the characters like Devil Stranahan. His name is really supposed to be Derry but so far he is just evil. he is just a little lamb as compared to MacGowen....oh, got too upset....

Moby-Dick or, The Whale, Beastly and The Second Mrs. Darcy and started readng them all. So far I've finished The Second Mrs Darcy, which was enjoyable enough, but not particularly memorable, and had only a tenuous link to Pride and Prejudice . I'm really enjoying Beastly, although I'm not a big fan of YA books and although the main theme to Moby Dick is interesting enough, I think the author's habit of writing really boring asides about whales/whaling ships/whaling is going to drive me insane before I finish (if I finish)
I'm currently about half way thru Pirates of Savannah: The Birth of Freedom in the Low Country which so far is just ok.
I'm still ploughing my way through Moby-Dick or, The Whale, but I'm also reading the "Shakespear's Champion" which is the second book in The Lily Bard Mysteries Omnibus. I wasn't sure about the first book, it was OK but a bit slow. I definitely can't say that about the second book. I'm really enjoying that.
I read that before joining Goodreads (so it's not on my list). I'd be interested to hear what you make of it.
Finished White is for Witching - very mixed feelings about it. Now reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Just joining the group! I am reading Goldengrove. It is a bit slow but I am trying to stick with it...I am on page 75. It is written by Francine Prose. I have never read anything by her before but it looked good.
Finished The Boy in the Striped Pajamas this morning and have now started The Luxe. Also reading Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.
Bridgette wrote: "I'm currently reading aftermath by peter Robinson"LOVE Peter Robinson! Have read all his books so far..
new one coming out next month or so...can't wait!
Currently working on the Peter James "Roy Grace" series.
3 down, 4 to go. Love those Brit procedurals.
I'm almost done with The Phantom of the Opera which I've relly enjoyed. I should've saved this one for closer to Halloween tho.I think I'm gonna read Mistress of the Art of Death next
Currently reading the third Alexander Seaton book Crucible of Secrets. It's fab, not as fast paced as A Game of Sorrows but equally gripping.

I must admit, I'm not much of a "sticker" if I don't enjoy something I abandon it. Although I might try it again some other time if there doen't seem a good reason why I'm not enjoying it.
Currently I'm just about to finish Moby-Dick or, The Whale and I am also just about to finish Fantasy Lover, having been led astray by Chris, who also read it. Actually, I'm quite enjoying it: it's quite a contrast to Moby that's for sure!
Slowly working my way through more books than I really should be doing all at once. The Mists of Avalon, Mysteries of the Middle Ages: The Rise of Feminism, Science & Art from the Cults of Catholic Europe, Henry VIII: The King and His Court and The Poisonwood Bible.
I seem to have turned into a bit of a reading demon recently. In addition to reading the whole of Crucible of Secrets over the weekend, I also finished A Visit from the Goon Squad and The Other Side of the Bridge. I'm down to one book The Redbreast, which I will finish before making a decision on what next to read. I'm in the mood for something easy and undemanding, although I have commited to reading Les Miserables with another group!
Sounds like you need to delay Les Mis then!I finished Moby Dick this morning. I'm still mulling over how to rate it. There's so much going on and he switches from being deadly serious to parody or other forms of humour so quickly I never knew whether to take it seriously or not in some parts. Other parts were really boring. I liked it overall, so I suppose it will get three stars once Goodreads decides to let me rate it (it's playing up at the moment).
Moby Dick? I guess you could do with something light weight and fun too. Not done any reading today so far, but spent hours in the park with my daughter and the bikes ( I'm sore in a few unmentionable places)!
I've just started on Sweet Poison by David Roberts (Sorry Goodreads won't let me post links at the moment - will add one once it's sorted itself out). It's a crime novel (cosy crime I think). Looks like it's going to have a pair of amateur aristocratic sleuths, but I haven't got that far yet. Hopefully fun and light. If not, it will get abandoned very quickly.Sweet Poison
I've given up on The Redbreast for a while, I cannot get into it, maybe because Anders Behring Breivik's extreme right wing murder rampage in Norway is too fresh in my mind. Instead I've finally started The Map of True Places. I got a surprise when I opened it, it's a large print version. At least I won't get sore eyes reading whilst tired.
I am back to The Nine Lives of Chloe King which I had purchased as The End of the Affair is starting to get a little tiresome with their endless emotional pain. If they had any common sense she would have divorced and they could have gotten married altho Maurice probably has some mental problems and I am not sure they would have been solved by marriage but maybe. As it is he is insanely jealous.
The Nine Lives of Chloe King is relaxing fun not endless misery. I now prefer relaxing fun.

This is completely odd for me, but I don't have ANY books on the go right now. I finished The Map of True Places very late last night and I've not picked anything next. I've not been travelling to work this week either, so I don't even have an audio book for the car on the go. Do I go audio, kindle or paperback? Decisions!
How did you like The Map of True Places, Chris? And I've had that odd experience of having nothing on, in any format. Feels strange. I used to panic but now I sometimes enjoy it. Usually I'm crushing myself with too many reads.Such as now, actually. I'm reading too many but enjoying them all so I can't decide what to give up. I just make sure I read at least 30 pages of any I pick up. Except for In the Castle of My Skin which is so difficult for me I can only manage 5-7 pages an hour & then I'm exhausted. Call It Sleep is another one that reads slow-but after 20+ years of starting it, I'm 250 pages in & really liking it. I'm also reading The Recognitions, Blackout (which is the opposite kind of reading-super fast-paced, leaves me breathless, really like it), some murder mysteries Shoots to Kill, Death of a Prankster, and Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage.
Hi Ellie, I can't remember when it last happened to me, but it is an experience. It's a bit like when you finish school for the summer holidays, having completed all exams. I enjoyed The Map of True Places, it's had mixed reviews, and I admit some of the repetetive language and phrases irked after a while. I think it was there to emphasise the dementia of one of the characters, but it didn't really work. Other than that, it was a good story, well paced and completely compelling.
Hi Chris, Don't forget the Nook.....;-)
Maybe its called Book Nook? I was impressed by it.

I am embarrassed to admit what I am reading right now so will keep it secret. A hornet stung me awhile ago today so recovering. (allergic to vespids)
I've just started "Magician" by Raymond E. Feist. It's a pretty old copy that I've had for YEARS and is apparently two books in one. I've read a few fantasies like this in the past and usually find them quite easy, absorbing reads. Hoping that this will be like that, as it's over 800 pages long!
I've finally gotten started on reading The Help which I really like so far. And I'm also just starting My Life in France as well as The Cat Who Said Cheese
The Magician is a great book, still head and shoulders above all the continuation books I have read.
I've started two, but since I'm back at work this week, I'm too tired to read very much; Blood of the Fold and The Summoner.
