I've only read up to page 114 so far, but am enjoying it. We've been up in the North East for a few days, but didn't have much time for reading. Went to see England v. India - rained off at 3.00p.m. but enjoyed a decent Indian innings!

Well I think that later tonight I will finish Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. But I can not seem to make my mind up on what I am going to read next. I hate having to make decisions.

Oh, I enjoyed The Sugar Queen and the Peach Keeper even more. I also love all Charlaine Harris Sookie books but not her murder mysteries. I am reading several books at once again. I got Anthill at the Borders close out and another one. I recommend Catch by Sean Quirk if you like fast James Bond type action with a little Sci Fi type stuff too. (its great)

I am also trying to read a book about Lyme but its so boring so far. The writer gives you ancient history like a college text book. Lab 257 if better as too scary .......its like a real Hot Zone.

Thanks Flora for the warning about the movie. So many movies are bad but tonight we watched a very good one. Hubby found it in Ohio....Follow the River. I read the book a few years ago and its very hard to read as based on a true story of a woman captured by the Indians who makes her way home. The movie in this case is excellent with a happy surprise twist at the end and I am so tempted to tell you but will refrain.Follow the River

im still trying to read insurrection i seem to read in small chunks of time. i dont what is wrong with me trying to read this book its either me or the book. grr this rarely happens to me.
but i am also reading run for yo life by james patterson. lets see how i get on with this book. :)
to behonest i have not had much time to read as i have been doing my homework and coursework for my A-Levels. i really need to knuckle down this year as i dont think that the school will give me another chance on repeating the year again.

I remember when I couldn't read as I had to study. Good luck with that. I was up around 3 am with asthma so I continued reading Deliverance Dane...its getting better all the time.

Have you read Shatter? It's excellent and Ruiz plays a good guy. I gave up on Lost, I couldn't get into the narrative, but after Shatter I've warmed to Ruiz a bit and might try again.

I'm trying to read The Summoner by Layton Green. It looks fabulous. I was drawn to it when Calum had a "feature" about the second book in the series The Egyptian. I wanted to read that one straight away but noticed The Summoner came first. The only problem is I start it then drop off to sleep really quickly afterwards! No reflection on the book, but it definitely has that effect on me (I usually read a good 100 pages in a session). Has good reviews, too!

I'm working my way through Heart of Darkness and Other Tales as part of the "50 books to read before you die" challenge which I started on Book Army (For people who don't know, Book Army was a similar site to Goodreads only much smaller. It folded eventually and many of us migrated here). The stories are very well told but they seem very dated to me. I am enjoying it enough to want to finish, but not enough to want to read it throughout the day, so I'm also reading The Magdalena Curse. Normally I really like F.G. Cottam's books but I'm finding a bit hard to get into this. I have just started it though , so hopefully it will get going soon.

I meant to ask what you thought of The House of Lost Souls, I was thinking of getting the audible version to listen to in the car, but it has some pretty mixed reviews. I loved the Waiting Room and was hoping for something as good!

I really enjoyed the House of Lost Souls. It was different to The Waiting Room though, which might account for the mixed reviews. There was initially more of a mystery about it (sorry I can't remember the details now), but the ending wasn't as intruiging as The Waiting Room. The House of Lost Souls was his first book and although I liked it, it was more of a conventional spooky book whereas in the waiting room, he had some interesting but unconventional ideas. Maybe that's why some readers didn't take to it. I didn't like the Magdalena Curse though. He seemed to be trying to spin the suspnese out too long. That coupled with loads of (to me) boring details about military things had me moving swiftly on to something else.

Finished The List of Seven, which was a grat ready by the way, and now I'm reading Courageousby Jack Campbell. It's also a good read. (Number 3 in the Lost fleet series). A good Military-Sci-fi-space-opera.

I'm going to start The Redemption of Alexander Seaton tonight for my November Historic book read. I finished Guilty Pleasures which was a good crime book about a rare antique snuffbox. It was a nice undemanding read with believable characters. I liked it enough to look out for others in the series.

We are back from Ohio but I feel sick....sigh. I picked up a werewolf book at the Wolf Park where we howled with the coyotes/wolves....what fun! I started reading it on the trip but lost my place so back to October Dreams since we are home and its on my night stand still. Its a good collection of short stories.

I also read a little of Breaking Dawn while traveling.

Thanks for the welcome JackieB--- I am currently reading Spider Bones by Kathy Reichs--love the "Bones" series and have just discovered the book series--so far so good!! So can someone give me a few examples of the fantasy genre since I guess that's what was chosen for December's read---not one of my usual genres--but am willing to try it if I can get recommendations? Thanks!
