What are you reading at the moment?
At the moment, I'm reading Hallowe'en Party and Hurting Distance. I've not read anything by Sophie Hannah before - full of strangeness!
I collected a few books from the library today, and started to read three of them straight away! Will I ever master patience???Brodmaw Bay

Greetings all--I'm currently reading "Midnight Voices" by John Saul (he's one of my favorites) and for the "Anything Goes" book group's December read the genre is fantasy-so I chose a series somewhat off my usual genres-"Curiosity Thrilled the Cat" by Sofie Kelly. It's about 2 magical cats who help their human out of a mess when she is accused of a murder! So far it's a fun and (at times) LOL funny romp and I'm enjoying it.

Hi everyone--I had to take a couple days off from everything (you should see my messages and don't even get me started on spam!)because I'm not feeling well--better now but still not 100%. I have started "Veil of Night" by Linda Howard but haven't even felt much like reading (you know I"m truly not myself when I don't feel like reading!) so am only on page 30. She's classified by the library as romance and there is a little of that--but her books are a combination of mystery-suspense-and murder and mayhem. I read mostly by author--and she is definately on the list. Kyle what is the Rescue about? Are you enjoying it?

It could be a temporary blip on Goodreads. Try it again and see what happens.

I'm reading three books at the moment - unusual for me. They're Treasure Island, Raven Queen and An Enemy at Green Knowe - all very different, but I'm enjoying them all.

Hi everyone--Kyle--what do you think of the Rescue? I've never heard of it--I finally finished "Passion" by Kate Lauren-3rd in the Fallen series. Didn't enjoy it as much as the first two-but it got better toward the end. Has anyone else read this series? I'm also working on "Veil of Night" by Linda Howard--and I normally like her writing style (she is on my list of must-read authors) but it took me awhile to get into this one. To be fair though--I haven't been much into reading or much else over the holidays--just been kind of a rough time for me--and you know if I don't feel like reading----something is definitely OFF!! What is everyone reading for the January genre of psychological thriller? I'm looking for ideas!!
My youngest daughter received a boxed set of Michael Morpurgo books for christmas, and I can't wait for her to start reading so I can get my hands on them afterwards. I know they're for children, but all so beautifully written. They'll keep me entertained for hours!

I'm currently reading The Old Mermaid's Tale a kind of coming of age story of a young girl in the 60's. It's beautifully written and I'm enjoying it very much.

The stories include animals usually, and tell stories that delve onto our own humanity. I guess they have a message and moral. The most well known of the books, War Horse has recently been made into a film. I can't recommend it since I've not seen it, but I'm told it's good.
My daughter's favourite is The Butterfly Lion. I've watched her cry when reading it, it's very moving! My daughter is in year 4, and she has been reading these stories for a couple of years at the recommendation of her favourite teacher. They are spot on for a bright and sensitive child who is able to read without help.
I currently reading 11/22/63
. It is historical fiction about the Kennedy assassination, who was the 35th president. It makes me wonder if I could change history would I be able to do it....
I am reading 2 books at the moment, something I pretty much never do. 11 22 63 A Novel and Devil's Bargain 11/22/63 is the 849 page hardcover which feels like it weighs about 10lbs and since I usually read during lunch at work I knew there was no way I was going to lug that monster back and forth, so I started Devil's Bargain on my Kindle. 11/22/63 is amazing so far and Devil's Bargain is good too, but I think anything is just gonna seem not so great when you're comparing it to a Stephen King book
Still reading A Game of Thrones and Brodmaw Bay. Really, really enjoying another book by F.G. Cottam. Great suspense!
Reading 11/22/63; Getting Out of Jersey (it was a freebie on GR giveawys and is actually okay, but the editing sucks) and The Pearls of Lutra for fun. Plus my son said I had to give some of his books a try. might as well, get it out of the way.

I'm re-reading my favourite book The Shadow of the Wind, definitely a bit of comfort reading going on. I challenged myself to read at least two DTB (dead tree books) from my TBR collection every month, so I'm going to go and have a good rummage for something extraordinary. I haven't been through those piles in ages - how exciting!

Guess all mine are dead tree books--wasn't able to get a Kindle like I wanted--oh well--my birthday is coming up! I'm reading The Haunted by Heather Graham.

It's good so far, but my reading time has been limited this week, since my youngest daughter has just discovered the twilight dvds. She's a bit too young to be allowed to watch them on her own TV in her bedroom, so I have suffered the three of them throughout the week, keeping her company! I'm all "cullened-out". In fact she has become a chick-flick diva, but at just nine, I have to make sure the content is suitable.
Whilst I'm reading a few books, loaded with action, plot and characterisation, I also have a more subtle book on the go in The Summer of the Bear. It's imaginative, moving and beautifully written, probably a bit slow if you're like me and usually read full-on action, but worth the change in pace.

Reading The Holy Machine by Chris Beckett. This was after reading Jackie E's review - reviews are important !(Alondra) I really like the Redwall series especially the Feasts. Martin the Warrior is my best book.
Hi all--I am still fighting with this cold/flu thing--haven't been this sick in years and because of this I missed "Before I go to Sleep" at my library (also because we still have snow and ice on the ground and in Seattle that means very spotty transportation) so I'm not sure what I will read for January--but right now I've just started "What the Night Knows" by Dean Koontz--it happened to be the next in line on my night stand!

I thought Winter in Madrid was very good. Quite a slow burner, but very atmospheric, with some interesting and believable characters. I think he captured the times very well. Well worth reading, I think.
