I loved The Parasol Protecorate series - I've read the first 4 and just recently received the 5th - Timeless These were my first 'steampunks' and I really like the mix of new and old and fantasy. Check them out Carole, but as Chris said, start with the first
Soulless
The latest additions to my "currently reading" list are Interview With the Vampire and At Home: A Short History of Private Life. Hard to believe I haven't read IWtheV before now - enjoying it so far. The Bill Bryson is very interesting and entertaining.
i will be hopefully going to finish nightchild by james barcly by the end of the week. im part way through a terry brooks book. im thinking about starting another book
I'm reading book #4 in the Leigh Koslow seriesNever Kissed Goodnight which I'm enjoying as much as the previous three
Started Matterhorn a few days ago, for a genre challenge with another group. Very good, very gritty.
I seem to have lost my reading mojo just now. I can't stick to a book (it probably doesn't help that I have seven on the go right now)! In fact I watched TV mindlessly last night for about three and a half hours - Something I never do. All the books I have "currently reading" should be excellent choices for me, every one of them, but sadly I'm uninspired! Any suggestions?!
Alice, I'll see what I can find in the library. maybe something light but not chick lit. Steve - I have that one, how far have you git with it
3/4 way through it and enjoying it so far got it from library and its due back next tuesday but wanted to read and then one of the 7 other readers can then read it , think its better than the snowman

I think I'm going to return to Notes from an Exhibition, a favourite that I have never re-read, and if I still don't feel like going back to my half finished books after that, I'll read The Phantom.
~☆ Alice☆~ wrote: "Is The Phantom the first book in a series?Phantom"
Alice - no this is the 9th, The first 2 are not translated into English. I started with The Snowman, number 7 I think, then the next, The Leopard, both are excellent. I bought the books 3 through to 6 inclusive, but didn't enjoy them anywhere near to the later books. I'm enjoying The Phantom so far but have only read about 90 pages
Thanks Chris, that seems very odd that the first two were not translated.
Hi all,I am reading "Ash" at the moment, i am really enjoying it and someone who has read it before has told me that it is the lesbian version of Cinderella, i have found out why Cinderella, but not the lesbian part though. I don't think it is as good as the last book i read though " the white giraffe" oh well.
Latest addition to the currently reading pile - The Bookshop by Penelope Fitzgerald. A novella, so very short - won't take long:)
The Radleys and its so good I don't want it to be over! We went to see Dark Shadows last night and I enjoyed it so much.

The Radleys has been on my TBR pile for too long now ...seeing that someone likes it give me incentive to start it ---- and I'm going to see Dark Shadows tonight :)
I loved the Radleys so much I went straight out and got The Dead Fathers Club (also by Matt Haig). I haven't read it yet though. Currently I'm reading Kissing the Demons.
I've never heard of the author (Kate Ellis) before. I'm enjoying it. It's a good police procedural which has avoided the usual police procedural cliches, but with the added element of a (possibly) haunted house.
Chris wrote: "Just got 50 or so pages left of Jo Nesbo's the phantom."i enjoyed when i read it the other week
Still reading my three "currently reading" books - enjoying them all, but it's slow progress. I finished The Bookshop last weekend - an interesting short read - have also finished a poetry collection called
by Heather Grace Stewart, which I enjoyed immensely.
Has anyone read Peaches for Monsieur le Curé,
. I love Joanne Harris and really enjoyed the previous books in this series;
Chocolate,
, and The Lollipop Shoes,
. I disliked her last book though Blueeyedboy,
Really enjoying The snow child now, It's a refreshing read after some pretty heavy going books. Want to get back to some others I've got on the go too.

im currently reading
the elves of cintra by terry brooks
black house by stephen king
robopocalypse by daniel h wilson
so far all them are rather good. but the black house is such a heavy read so once that book is done i would want some light to read within fantasy. :)

im currently reading robopocalypse by daniel h wilson which is a great young adult book if you like futurama the tv programme then you will probably like this book, but its more about robots that aliens and yeah. :) also i am reading fifty shades of grey by EL james, well at first i thought that i wont really enjoy it but now once actually got into the plot and the characters with their relationships i am really enjoying it. :) and i am currently reading zombie apoclypse in which now i am really enjoying, i am enjoying the rather interesting plot that the book has as a whole. i would reccommend this book to all fans of zombies and paranormal kind of stuff. :)
I'm currently over half way thru Morning Star and its not bad but I'm not overly thrilled with it either.
I'm currently reading The Rise and Fall of Thomas Cromwell: Henry VIII's Most Faithful Servant, I'm listening to The House of Wisdom: How the Arabs Transformed Western Civilization and I'm trying to read The Technologists but it isn't grabbing me.
I picked up my ms book as I am going to loan it to a neighbor. I just started The Deadfall Project which is a thriller and grabs you right off.

The Deadfall Project
I'm reading The Royal Victorians: King Edward Vii, His Family And Friends which I haven't gotten very far into yet but Queen Victoria ruled the Prince of Wales with an iron hand. Poor boy was kept away from his siblings and made to study 11 hours a day, unhappy child. On a lighter note I'm also reading The Vampire Hunter Chronicles and Smokin' Seventeen.
