I'm reading "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" and really enjoying it. I'm about two thirds of the way through and reading quite quickly for me!
Just read Jump by Jilly Cooper - not my cup of tea - I should know better. Now reading The Snowman by Jo Nesbo, set in Norway. it's jumping around a bit without much explanation, but maybe I have not quite got into the characters yet, still early in the book. I think it will shape up quite well.
Hi

Chris i always waned to read The Snowman by Jo Nesbo, so when you finsh it can tell me if its any good?

Currently I'm reading The Confession which I just got for Christmas and so far it seems pretty interesting. I am also reading The Farthest Shore. I've read the first three in this series and so far I really like this one too.
I started reading Phineas Finn not long ago and after dragging myself past the first 70 pages with continues threats to give up, it really started improving. I'm glad that I stuck with it.
I was reading, but put on hold, False Memory which was really good in the begining but has gotten really predictable. I'm not sure I am gonna finish it.
As soon as I finish putting together the 2011 challenges TBR pile I am going to start with The Eagle Catcher by Margaret Coel
Currently I'm reading "The Emperor's Tomb" (Cotton Malone #6)by Steve Berry. I read the first five and I'm really enjoying this one.
I'm currently reading Shadowfae by Erica Hayes. I just put it on my eReader yesterday and can't put it down. I should be working on my own book at the moment but you know how that goes...

Relieved to read that you've changed your opinion of "Phineas Finn"! I bought it in a charity shop a few weeks' ago, and I had an "oh no" moment when I read an earlier comment you made. I've only read one other Trollope - "Barchester Towers" and really liked it.
I have just begun The Marlowe Conspiracy (on Kindle via Amazon). I'm fascinated by Christopher Marlowe, although there is very little in the way of actual facts about him. This is a another fictional account of events leading to his death. Might be another "late into the night" read.

I have definitely changed my opinion of Phineas Finn, getting past that first part is definitely worth the effort. Since I have manage to finish
The Farthest Shore, which was as good as the first three, I plan on focusing on Finn which keeps getting better.

I've only read The Wizard of Earthsea... the other books are worth reading, you think?
I finished reading The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest in the wee small hours of the morning - great story! Loved it! Now, I think I'll have a browse through my new cookery book - Nigella's Kitchen - Christmas present from daughter Anna - before starting Room.

I've enjoyed all of the Earthsea books. And I'm looking forward to the rest of them. I think there is at least a couple more.
Ooo, I'll have to try the other Earthsea books! It's a long time since I read the first,so shall have to re-read I think.
I've just started to read a novel by A.D.Millar called 'Snowdrops'. It's a psychological drama of an Englishman's winter spent in modern Moscow. It's something different from what I normally read but is holding my interest so far.
Angela wrote: "Chris wrote: "I have just begun The Marlowe Conspiracy (on Kindle via Amazon). It's a novella based on Christopher Marlowe's last few days. I picked it up from a charity shop just before Christmas. It's got mixed reviews on Amazon, so I'd be interested in hearing what you made of it if you've read it.
I'm currently reading Second Shot by Zoe Sharp. She's a new author for me, and I'm not far into the book, but it's looking promising so far.
Hi JackieI read Tamburlaine Must Die after Chris had posted on Book Army that she had read it. I thought it was very good - not long enough though! (I know it's a novella) Definitely worth reading.
Finally finished Phineas Finn and must say that I loved it. Currently I am still trying to finish the last half of The Confession

I was like that with Barchester Towers. It took a while to read, but I was so glad I stuck with it. There was so much to enjoy.
On the Run by Iris Johansen I was really lucky last year and purchased library unabridged CD audio books in bulk. This lets me do 2 things at once.
I am liking this book very much.
Just finished Foundling and looking forward to the rest of this trilogy. Also read Letters From The Earth by Mark Twain and really loved this one.Getting ready to start Helen of Troy
Nick wrote: "I have just started reading The Lucifer Codeby Charles Brokaw"Nick you will have to let me know how well you like this one. It looks intriguing.
Just finished Thirteen Years Laterand really enjoyed it. Just starting [book:Chosen To Die|6385574. Think this may be a quick read cos the font is HUGE so not quite as big a book as it looks and seems fairly easy to read! Not much concentration required!!
I have just finished The Small Hand about 5 mins ago. I really enjoyed it. It's not a terrifying ghost story, more an atmospheric spooky little tale. I really liked how Susan Hill built up the spookiness.
Shirley wrote: "Started

I've noticed alot of mixed reviews on this one. Let me know what you think of it when you're finished.

I've got the first one (The Various Haunts of Men), but I think it will be a while before I get to it.
I only "discovered" Susan hill after seeing her on the Sky Arts book show and and bought her book the very next day. It took a a little while before I got to it, but then I devoured it in a day or so. It's quite short.I have been meaning to look out other books
Just finished Helen of Troy and absolutely loved it. It got a rare 5 stars from me. It was very hard to let go of when it was over. Just now getting started on City of Bones and not so sure I'm gonna like this one.
I've nearly finished reading Faceless Killers, my first Henning Mankell book. A good read, without being spectacular!
Finished Faceless Killers this morning - pretty good! - and have started The Lemon Tree by Helen Forrester. I've had it on my bookshelf for years, so thought it was about time!
I'm thoroughly engrossed in Never Let me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, however I have just bought a kindle copy of The Small Hand by Susan Hill, which I'm eager to start later today!I still have several other books on the go too, as usual!!!!!!
well i have finished kill for me by karen rose its a brilliant book
i have like just started the shakespeare secret by j.l.carrel.
i have like just started the shakespeare secret by j.l.carrel.
Decided to pick up Bleak House again, after first attempt to read it 3 years ago. Getting on much better with it now, although not a speedy read by any means. The Lemon Tree is O.K. but shall be glad to finish it I think.
I just finished The Case Has Alteredand I liked it but I must admit I had it figured out who did it about middle way thru it. Currently I'm about half way thru Something Wicked This Way Comes and I'm not really loving this one. I think I will manage to finish it but will be glad to see it over. I also am just getting started on The Aeneid and I think this one is gonna be a tough read.
