Have you read The Lake of Dead Languages by Carol Goodman. That was quite good too. I haven't read anything else by her, so have added Arcadia Falls to my enormous TBR list!

I finished The Secret of Lost Things and also Tehanu and loved both of these. I'm still trying to finish Kraken but I must say I just don't like it. Someone told me to stick with it that it got better and that the ending was worth it, but so far its not getting any better.

No, I've got it and it's working its way up my TBR pile (which is growing at an enourmous rate at the moment). The only other Carol Goodman book I've read is [book:The Ghost Orchid. I can thoroughly recommend that. I've just checked and it's on my read bookshelf. So you can check my review if you are interested in it.

I'm reading Lucky Man - Michael J Fox's story of his experience of Parkinsons Disease - am only 52 pages in but think I am going to enjoy it....he seems to have an interesting story to tell and an upbeat approach to life

Nearly half way through Bleak House! Read a short memoir called Next of Kin byPriscilla Lalisse-Jespersen - it's a book I won in a giveaway - a moving, worthwhile account of the author dealing with bereavement. I've also started another giveaway win - Gone by Julie Elizabeth Powell. I've only just started it, but like it so far. Bleak House is very good and I'm enjoying it, but need a break from the writing style every now and then!

Dog Years: A Memoir I just started Dog Years which is sad but I am enjoying as its about dogs. I really seem to like dog books lately.

I'm reading Mortal Fear by Greg Iles. It's one I've had hanging around for ages and I simply didn't get around to reading it. The preface and chapter one were so so and I didn't get much further, but then picked it up again last night, and WOW, but scary stuff. Now I remember why I love Greg Iles books

I finished Incantation pretty quickly and I thought it was really good. I am now half way thru The Meaning of Night: A Confession and about 1/3 of the way into Tipping the Velvet and Faerie Wars

I am working on 4th of July by James Patterson. It moves along quickly and certainly keep my attention. Also reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón it is a good mystery.

I just started The Black Angel by John Connolly. I found that I really enjoy the Charlie Parker series. I have to say my favorite characters are Angel and Louis. They seem like odd couple but it works for the series.

well the book is well written and it is the first book that have read by clive cussler. it is very fast paced, full of detail. you should read it. :)

I've gone back to one of my challenge books, Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter. I do like it but it's an awfully slow read for me. I'm glad I put it on my challenge list after all, perhaps I'll finish it after all these years! I think I will be glad if I do.

Not reading so much this week, I have had to start some daily medicine to prevent migraines and it's really knocked me for six. I can't concentrate on anything for more than ten minutes at a time. Really, really frustrating. AND I'm not likely to see any improvement for another week or two. Soooooooooo grumpy!

Sorry to hear that your head is playing up, Chris. I used to suffer with migraines - so draining. Hope the medication works properly and that everything settles down soon and allows you to return to your usual self.

I'm reading Bleak House - still! Also reading Auctioneer's Lot by Philip Serrell and Dead as a Doornail. They're both light, fun reads.

Hope you get better soon Chris. I take a lot of medication myself and some of these that I take makes it really difficult to concentrate on anything.

Thanks everyone, I'm sure I'll be fine after a few days, but I don't like taking medicine, especially when the side effects are so intrusive. I'm hoping I get used to it soon. I'm going to "read" the Fry Chronicles on audiobook in the meantime. That should keep me occupied for a while.

I finished The Meaning of Night: A Confession and was kinda disappointed. I expected it to be much better. I found it alot like The Moonstone and very predictable and thought the plot was unlikely. I have also finished Tipping the Velvet which I loved. It got a rare 5 stars. I also recently finished Faerie Wars and I thought it was ok.

I think I'm now gonna start The Wise Man's Fear

Now I'm reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult which given my rants against Jodi Picoult is a little embarrassing. But I am fascinated by school shootings. Although the one at Columbine did turn out to be led by a sociopath, not a victim striking back.
I'm also trying to finish Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter. It's a very interesting book but the prose is convoluted (with dialect, just for good measure) so not at all easy for me.

I just finished The Shadow of the Wind byCarlos Ruiz Zafón. This book kept my attention to the end. I had to keep my notebook at hand so that I could charterers list straight. I think my favorite character was Fermin. He was defently a needed to lighten things up.

I think Shadow of the Wind has to be one of my favourite books ever. I recommend it to everyone, and I've lost count of the number of copies I've bought as gifts. I get a buzz when anyone else enjoys it.

I've gotten started on The Wise Man's Fear which is really good so far. But its been so long since I've read The Name of the Wind its been difficult picking up where I left off.

I've also started Hood and The Journal of Hélène Berr

I hope you enjoy Hood, I like Mr Lawhead's twist on the legend. Also I find him an 'easy' read, and the spirtual dimension, which is not everyone's cup of tea.

Probably Fermin Romero de Torres, I liked Issac too! Have you read Angels Game? It's much darker but includes the Cemetery of Forgotten Books. I don't think I enjoyed it as much as Shadow of the Wind, but it's certainly worth a read.

If you're interested The Mystery, Crime and Thriller Group are reading this at the moment, and are probably at the point where they will be having an informed discussion about it.

I have the Angles Game on my TBR list. I think I'll take a look at it. And I'm already in The Mystery, Crime and Thriller Group that is how found out about this book. Thanks for the suggestion on the Angle Games I was not sure, but now I am going to read it.

i just started heartstone by C.J. Sansom. well it is just as good as the others in the series.

I enjoyed Heartstone, I thought it was better than Sovereign, Dark Fire & Revelation, but not quite on a par with Dissolution. Always seems to bring them out for Summer holiday reading :-)

I like the Jack Reacher series, but I find I like Lee Child's writing better if I read it in small doses. So today I started Die Trying. I'm also reading The Sentryby Robert Crais and Until Proven Guilty by J.A. Jance. This should keep me busy for awhile

I know what you mean Chris, I've been so busy lately I've hardly had any time to read. I'm currently about 1/4 of the way into The Name of the Wind and I've gotten a good start on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I'm really enjoying both of these but I wish I had more time to read.
