message 626: by Caitrin (new)

Caitrin (literarydependent) My library has a limit of 6 things of the same type (book, audiobook, etc) for holds but as soon as they come in to the library that space opens up. Also if I use one of the recommendation/request slips it's put on my account and doesn't count as one of the 6 either. It surprised me to learn I could get a book that wasn't searchable in the system that way.

Since I have so many out (yay no limits on how many you can get AND no fees for late books) I'll only list the ones I've gotten in the past week.

The Improbable Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by John Joseph Adams Stiff The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi 10th Anniversary (Women's Murder Club, #10) by James Patterson Habibi by Craig Thompson The Darkest Road (The Fionavar Tapestry, #3) by Guy Gavriel Kay

And requests: Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson The Alloy of Law (Mistborn, #4) by Brandon Sanderson Killing Lincoln The Assassination that Changed America Forever by Bill O'Reilly The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern Of Blood and Honey (The Fey and the Fallen, #1) by Stina Leicht

Sashana Caitrin wrote: "My library has a limit of 6 things of the same type (book, audiobook, etc) for holds but..."

Whoa, I don't know how you manage. When I request, I request in bulk. I couldn’t imagine being limited to requesting six books at once. I also have The Night Circus requested but I'm like 100th in line. I hope its worth the wait.

message 628: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I just picked up the Night Circus. Talk about lucky. I couldn't believe it was in.

message 630: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I made a much needed trip to my library today and picked up: Shit My Dad Says by Justin Halpern Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys and a few DVDs (Rent, The Rocky horror picture show, The young Victoria, and Casablanca. Can you say movie night?)

I forgot to pick up Stay by Deb Caletti and Perfect by Judith McNaught . I realized I didn't pick them up off the shelf when I got home.

message 631: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I was searching through my library's catalog and I saw that they had Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins so I requested it. I don't even have to wait in line :)

message 632: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Nice, Sashana. Have you ever seen Rocky Horror? I watched the first thirty minutes of it for the first time a few months ago. *ducks in advance* I Hated it. I couldn't stand another minute. Hope you have seen it before and/or end up liking it. I couldn't do it.

Don't you just love when you don't have to wait for a book? Or better yet when you can just go and grab it right off the shelf? Love it!

message 633: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I haven't see it before. I got it because one of the episodes on Glee was based on it and because Lisa Kay created a challenge based on it. I figured that's a higher power telling me to watch it lol. I watched the The Young Victoria tonight and I enjoyed it. Popped in Rent for a few minutes but it couldn't hold my attention.

I love when I don't have to wait, especially for new releases.

message 634: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Rocky Horror isn't meant to be enjoyed via video by yourself. It's an interactive experience where people chant things at the screen, throw toast, and sing along. I hated the movie when I saw it, but the live show was so much fun!

My library doesn't have it :(

message 644: by Aneeqah (new)

Aneeqah | 322 comments I was pretty surprised my library actually had it, considering they barely get any new books at all... Why don't you try asking them to get it?

message 645: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Aneeqah wrote: "I was pretty surprised my library actually had it, considering they barely get any new books at all... Why don't you try asking them to get it?"

I'll try. I know there's a way to request for them to buy a book but I've never done it before.

message 646: by Aneeqah (new)

Aneeqah | 322 comments Good luck! I just went straight to the librarian and told them how popular the book was, how people were saying it's one of the best books of the year, etc. I bet they will get it, since it's been popular this year. =)
