Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Krystal, I listened to Bossypants by Tina Fey late last year; it was funny.

BJ, I have the CDs for A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness from the library "in transit" to me.

message 704: by Lavinia (new)

Lavinia (platinumwarlock) Just got word that The Snowman on audiobook was waiting for me. I don't remember reserving it, but that isn't necessarily meaningful...

message 705: by BJ Rose (new)

message 710: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Checked Out

I grabbed Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant which I'm stoked to read, but at the same time am afraid to start because I know I won't want to put it down once I begin and this week is uber busy.

On Hold
Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu 98th on 25 copies
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett 637th on 146 copies

Don't think I'll be seeing either of these very soon...Anyone have a kindle lendable available? :-P

message 711: by Dani (new)

Dani (dani_duda25) | 26 comments Have checked out The Favored Daughter One Woman's Fight to Lead Afghanistan into the Future by Fawzia Koofi which is an amazing book so far! Dear John by Nicholas Sparks The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf The Gift by Cecelia Ahern Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

message 712: by Lavinia (new)

Lavinia (platinumwarlock) Jex wrote: "Anyone have a kindle lendable available?"

Neither can be lent, sadly. :( But that's a great idea - I'd be happy to lend after I finish things.

message 713: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I wonder how they decide what will be lendable or not. I have a shelf (not finished with it) that has all my lendables on it. Feel free to contact me if one strikes your fancy: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...

message 714: by Rachel (last edited Feb 09, 2012 03:36PM) (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I think lendable books have to do with the publisher just like the price of the ebook. The publisher sets the ebook price which sometimes makes me mad because they are almost the same price if not more expensive than the hard copy.

Another great idea, Jex - thanks. :)

Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver - reading now. Couldn't put it down last night.
State of Wonder - Ann Patchett - lying in wait for the 13th.
Destined - PC Cast - a DNF for me. I enjoyed the first few books of the series, but I can't bring myself to finish this one. I just don't care about any of it.

On hold:
Mine - Robert R McCammon - for horror book club.
New York to Dallas - JD Robb - 4th in line for it. Probably another month before I get it.

Booksfree (in the mail):
Enslave Me Sweetly - Gena Showalter
Unholy Ghosts - Stacia Kane
One Salt Sea - Seanan McGuire
Last Argument of Kings - Joe Abercrombie

I bought State of Wonder today and I'm very mad at the price. Why the hell is a 350 page eBook $13? It makes no damn sense. I don't have to pay for printing, paper, or ink so why is it so expensive?!

message 718: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I KNOW! It makes me mad too. I haven't bought a book for my Kindle in FOREVER because of that very reason. I just don't see the point.

message 719: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I would've bought the physical copy but then I'd have to pay and wait for shipping. Plus I have no space (I just gave away a lot of books recently)

message 720: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments *gasp* Gave them away?? Blasphemy!

message 721: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I had no choice but to buy the ridiculously priced Ebook. I couldn't even find a copy of it at the local Barnes and Noble.

message 722: by Sashana (last edited Feb 12, 2012 08:53PM) (new)

Sashana Lol I gave away some books that I bought but never read. I figured I outgrew them: Gossip Girl, Cheetah Girls (what was I thinking?!) etc...No love lost though, I only spent $0.50 a pop for each and made some pre-teen very happy. A better alternative than sitting on my shelf and collecting dust.

message 723: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (crazylittlebookpage) I don't understand why eBooks are so darned expensive either it's ridiculous really

Where or to whom did you give them away to? I tried to give away my old children's books at a Free/Recycle yahoo group, but didn't garner much interest. :\

One of my dad's coworkers has a 14 year old daughter so I passed them on to her. Maybe you can try donating them to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. You should be able to donate books to your library too.
