2 Alexander McCall Smith 38
3 J.D. Robb 37
4 Georgette Heyer 29
5 Monica Edwards 27
6 Kerry Greenwood 26
7 Stephen King 23
8 Kathy Reichs 19
8 Lee Child 19
10 Maeve Binchy 17

10 Maeve Binchy 17
Oh dear!!!

James Patterson 65
J.D. Robb 46
Jack Higgins 43
Clive Cussler 39
Mary Higgins Clark 33
Kathy Reichs 25
Lee Child 24
Tess Gerritsen 24

Wow! Thanks Phrynne - I've never done that before...interesting!
It's really interesting to look further down the list too!

Mine was a bit hard as I had a few authors tied - so just did the top 10 as it cameKerry Greenwood- 20
Nora Roberts - 12
Debora Geary - 10
Janet Evanovich - 9
Katherine Howell - 8
Kelley Armstrong - 7
Debbie Macomber - 7
Gail Carriger - 7
Rachael Johns - 7
Christine Feehan - 6
I think it's not quite a true reflection of the authors I've read, as I know for a fact I have more of quite a few on my read list spreadsheet - but read them before I was on Goodreads so they aren't on here.
Other than Katherine Howell it also shows I lean to the lighter, mystery, romantic and paranormal reads. Which is pretty spot on
Lol! That makes quite funny reading Phrynne! It's a real time capsule. Anne Perry 34! (a long time ago)
Terry Pratchett 23
M C Beaton 21 (also a long time ago!)
Kerry Greenwood 21
Lindsay Davis 13 (ditto)
Janet Evanovich 12
Sarah Paretsky 12
Lois McMaster Bujold 11
Alexander McCall Smith 11
Louise Penny 9
It's a bit random because I've listed some older series that I've read in the past but not others - like Lee Child, Harlan Coben, Jodie Picault that I know I've read a lot of. Anne Perry's books are cosy crimes set in Victorian England and I mostly picked them up second hand to read between more serious novels so interesting that she's come up on top.
Mine are these ones! 1 7779 Arthur C. Clarke 12
2 16667 Isaac Asimov 9
3 58 Frank Herbert 8
4 56 Brian Herbert 5
4 696805 Jules Verne 5
6 23509 Jean Craighead George 3
7 1630 Ray Bradbury 2
7 4 Douglas Adams 2
I love the mix of different genres! As Carolyn says it's like a time capsule which shows the way your reading habits have changed:)
We've read different totals for J.D. Robb Phrynne..that's odd! Unless it's because I've read most of the .5s too..

Yes - I rarely read novellas or short stories so I don't read the in between books by any author:) I think our Lee Child s are different for the same reason.

You can still add them in as read Sally, if you can remember which ones - I did that with my owned books when I joined. Obviously I can't remember the zillions I read that I don't own though!
Brenda wrote: "You can still add them in as read Sally, if you can remember which ones - I did that with my owned books when I joined. I have the year I read them (not the date though) and the score I gave them (all B and A) - so its not as though I am fudging it!!!
Here's mineNo surprise with my 2 favourite authors on top, but it seems I have a thing against male authors. Dont have any appear until much further (Equal 24th)down the list. :O
Philippa Gregory- 19
Diana Gabaldon- 18(this was actually a bit higher but it included some re-reads so I adjusted
Sue Grafton- 16
V.C. Andrews- 16 (from back in the day :) )
Jilly Cooper- 9
J.K. Rowling- 7
Jean M. Auel- 6
Jean Plaidy- 6
Rachael Treasure- 6
Tara Moss- 6

It has made me feel inclined to add some books I have read in the past in order to make it a bit more accurate!
Find duplicates sounds good too. I shall go look for that now.

Hmm... I only have stuff for the last year and a half so it won't be accurate. It doesn't have my complete Dean Koontz (at least 60 books) and no J.D. Robb. But here's what I haveDean Koontz 19
Richelle Mead 9
Mike Carey 8
Brian K. Vaughan 8 (comics)
Matthew Sturges 8 (comics)
Ed Brubaker 7 (comics)
J.K. Rowling 7
Raine Thomas 6
Kay Hooper 6 (I think this is closer to 18)
Stephen Leather/Pittacus Lore/Charles Dickens/Neil Gaiman 5 each
God bless comics and their length or I would have nothing to show for my efforts.
Think I'll have to try and update my list of books read too. Will be a nice job for a wet wintery day perhaps!

Sorting through my books the other day, and I couldn’t believe how many Dean Koontz books I own - read them in my 20’s.
I haven’t updated them in Goodreads but I’m sure if I do, he’ll be number 1 author on my list.
I think my Goodreads friends would absolutely kill me if I started inputting a bunch of old reads. Scrolling through all of those changes can be SO annoying. I need to make a list and then add ten per day ;)

Just go to Edit Profile & under the 'Feeds' tab untick 'Add book to my shelves' & any books you add wont come up on your feed or any of your friends
This was a really interesting exercise and I was a bit surprised by the results as I don't particularly like some of the authors in my top 10 anymore.1. Nora Roberts 56
2. J D Robb 39
3. Robyn Carr 30
3. Susan Mallery 30
5. Debbie Macomber 26
5. Suzanne Brockmann 26
7. Susan Wiggs 23
7. Lee Child 23
9. Jodi Picoult 21
10. Harlan Coben 20

Well I guess that cuts your TBR number down by a few :)

I had 2 duplicates :)

My thoughts exactly - good tool to reduce the TBR ;)

I would do it Phrynne (add books you've read in the past) and see if the order of your list changes.
I'm about to add my Dean Koontz books, now that I'm home :)
I think my top ten may be pretty accurate but some of the lower ones are certainly quite wrong! When I have time I will add a lot of old reads:)
So, I'm a bit late to the party here. Lol. Mine are as follows: 1. Christopher Golden- 25
2. Nancy Holder- 15
3. Jeffrey J. Mariotte- 13
4. Diana G. Gallagher- 11
5. Justin Richards- 11
6. Murray Ball- 8
7. Mel Odom- 7
8. Paul Ruditis- 7
9. Philippa Gregory- 6
10. Colin Brake- 6
Most of these authors come from my teenaged days. Back then, I just devoured everything I could of Buffy, Angel and Charmed. I was completely, 200% obsessed! Lol.

I was amazed Neil Gaiman didn't make it into my top ten. He needs to write more books!!!

Indeed he does! He has another collection of short stories coming out soon :) He ranked so high in mine due to The Sandman graphic novel collection I'd say.
A few surprises in there, I must admit. But it is good to see some indies right up there :)1. Rebecca Royce - 21
2. Lindsay Buroker - 14
3. James Patterson - 13
3. Charlaine Harris - 13
5. Tony Talbot - 12
6. Laurell K. Hamilton - 11
7. Natasha Duncan-Drake - 10
7. John Marsden - 10
9. Keri Arthur - 9
9. Paul Jennings - 9
I had not heard of Lindsay Buroker so I checked her out and now I have a whole new author to read. Thanks Lynxie:)
Phrynne wrote: "I had not heard of Lindsay Buroker so I checked her out and now I have a whole new author to read. Thanks Lynxie:)"Lindsay is one of my favourites (clearly!!) She's so great with reader communications and interactions too. I wrote a profile article on her a year or so ago. I got to interview her via email and she was so helpful :D
I love her characters in The Emperor's Edge series too - Amaranthe is awesome and I ADORE Sicarius.
