Kaity | 492 comments Hiya Sandy! I enjoyed returning to your shelf (having been there recently for M&G), unfortunately I've already recommended to you most of the books on it that I've read/heard of. You read a lot of genres that I don't. I still gave you a bunch of picks from that shelf though. Hopefully it helps you out and they're not crummy!

Blue:
Still Alice by Lisa Genova (M&G Shelf)
Blue & Peaceful Cover - I haven't heard of this book before but the cover really stood out to me. It's got a high average rating, hopefully it's enjoyable to you.
This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen (NEW)
Peaceful Cover - I love how 'soft' this one's cover looks. I saw you've enjoyed other books by Dessen but didn't have this one on your shelf. I haven't read anything by her in a while long but this is a book I've kept with me since I read/loved it in high school.

Still Alice by Lisa Genova This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen

Green:
The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness (M&G Shelf)
Green Cover - Eek! Now that the third book is finally out I really have no excuse not to read this series myself. I've heard great things about it.
Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey (NEW)
Renewed Relationship & Green Cover - I really enjoyed this book. All of its characters are unique and interesting. It's hilarious but very deep as well. Second chance relationships are one of my least favorites but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness Exclusively Yours (Kowalski Family, #1) by Shannon Stacey

Red:
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (M&G Shelf)
Energy - I've only read City of Bones so far but I loved the characters' energy and the pacing of the story.
Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione (NEWish)
Red Cover & Passion - This was on your TBR but not on the M&G shelf so I'm being a little cheaty :P An awesome passionate series though and this one has a vibrant red cover, how perfect for this category!

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione

Purple:
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah (M&G Shelf)
Purple Cover - I'm not familiar with this author at all but I saw you enjoyed other books by her and the cover is gorgeous.
Holiday in Death by J.D. Robb (NEWish)
Favorite 'Grounding' Author - Another one on your TBR but not M&G shelf. I love this series to pieces. I love its consistency, every time I open a book it feels homey and welcoming yet there are still surprises to keep me guessing.

Fly Away (Firefly Lane, #2) by Kristin Hannah Holiday in Death (In Death, #7) by J.D. Robb

Black:
Panic by Lauren Oliver (M&G Shelf)
Dark Story & Black Cover - The one has a blackish cover and the summary sounds fairly dark. I'm familiar with Oliver but haven't read any of her books. From what I've seen this one was a hit or miss, hopefully it's a hit for you!
Vicious by V.E. Schwab (NEW)
Secrets & Dark Story - I'm a little hesitant about recommending this book. I LOVED it but there's really nothing to compare it to to judge whether you might like it. Schwab's writing style reminds me a lot of Neil Gaiman but the story is utterly unique and enthralling. Vicious was nominated for best fantasy on GR.

Panic by Lauren Oliver Vicious by V.E. Schwab

Orange:
Comanche Heart by Catherine Anderson (M&G Shelf)
Orange Cover - I've never read anything by Anderson but I've seen her mentioned every once in a while and it's always very positively. I don't read many westerns but this sounds like a good series.
Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire (NEW)
Adventurous - Urban fantasy is a very adventurous genre. I've not personally read this series but it's always being recommended to me.

Comanche Heart (Comanche, #2) by Catherine Anderson Rosemary and Rue (October Daye #1) by Seanan McGuire

Yellow:
Tea Time for the Traditionally Built by Alexander McCall Smith (M&G Shelf)
A Thinker - Probably not the 'thinkerest' of books but if you're like me, then at the very least you'll be trying to puzzle out the mystery before the characters.
A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare (NEW)
Intelligent - I love Dare's books. I love her intelligent stories and characters. This book has lots of brilliant (and slightly mad) characters to enjoy.

Tea Time for the Traditionally Built (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency #10) by Alexander McCall Smith A Night to Surrender (Spindle Cove, #1) by Tessa Dare

Pink:
Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier (M&G Shelf)
Pink Cover - I saw you really enjoyed the first in the series and this one had a pinksh cover. Hope you enjoy this book just as much!
Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper (NEW)
Paranormal Romance - I really enjoy this series, it's fun. The silliness and characterizations reminds me a lot of the Stephanie Plum books.

Son of the Shadows (Sevenwaters, #2) by Juliet Marillier Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper

Wow, Shelby!! For having a hard time - you did a fantastic job!! Even though I only pick 2, all the new ones are definitely going on my TBR!! I'm so excited! There are a couple I was already going to read for other challenges, and one I've already read. Sorry about that. Not sure how it ended up on my TBR. So I have to think about which other ones I'm going to read. I will let you know!! So much fun (rubbing my hands together!!)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1970 comments I may have missed that it was marked read since I was looking at cover views most of the time too. I tried to bounce around your different TBR lists. But I could very well have clicked somewhere random and gotten a book you'd read. Sorry!

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Hi siriusedward!
We have MUCH different tastes on most books, so I tried to go with one book on your TBR and one that's not for each category. I hope that you can find something to work with! If you need repicks, PM me and I'll try to fix things for ya. :)

Most of the ones on your TBR I picked for their color because I don't much about the book, but the rec's are books I'm more familiar with.

Blue :
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (TBR)

It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips (rec) This is one of my all time favorite authors, you've not had much success with her in the past, but give this first book in the Chicago Stars series a try. It's one of my favorite books

Black :
Embracing the Wolf by Catherine Bybee (TBR)
Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno, #1) by Sylvain Reynard (TBR and rec)--talk about secrets. This was a very interesting book. And it has the added benefit of having a black cover!

Orange :
The Odyssey by Homer (TBR) orange and an adventure

I've read The Red Tent before and thought it was great. Not sure how it ended up on my TBR but that's OK.

It's a toss up between The Wheel of Fortune by Susan Howatch and The Source by James A. Michener (which I've tried to read at least twice before) and I Take Thee, Serenity by Daisy Newman .

Thanks again.

message 116: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Ok Breann, finally finished! Just FYI, I made most of my picks based on the assumption that you like strong alphas with equally strong betas (Even alpha/alpha). I hope I'm not way off base with that conclusion. Sometimes good books are just good books regardless of that type of distinction and sometimes the color of the cover was just right, lol. Here we go...

1. Blue: Trouble & the Wallflower by Kade Boehme Sidecar by Amy Lane
2. Green: Someone to Watch Over Me (Bow Street Runners, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling, #13) by Nalini Singh
3. Red: Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12) by J.R. Ward
4. Purple: A Red-Tainted Silence by Carolyn Gray Reunion in Death (In Death, #14) by J.D. Robb
5. Black: Raphael (Vampires in America, #1) by D.B. Reynolds Conscious Decisions of the Heart (More Heat Than The Sun, #2) by John Wiltshire
6. Orange: Texas Pride by Kindle Alexander Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre , A new genre for you, but a great read.
7. Yellow: The Gifted One by Jacob Z. Flores Steel's Edge (The Edge, #4) by Ilona Andrews
8. Pink: Sometimes You Just Know (Dark Horse, #1.1) by Kate Sherwood Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6) by Nalini Singh

I think I have a good mix of genres here but I emphasized m/m. Hope you find something you like. HAPPY READING!!

message 120: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments Hi Brett - Here are your picks. I tried to blend both the color of the cover with the subject matter recommendation. That strategy may have ended up producing some odd picks - but I hope you can still enjoy. Let me know if you need any re-picks.

Blue:
NEW: A New World by Patricia McLinn – besides his stare being pretty intense, a peaceful blue scene
TBR: The Wanderer by Robyn Carr – I think most of Robyn Carr’s covers are peaceful. This one has blue.
A New World by Patricia McLinn The Wanderer (Thunder Point, #1) by Robyn Carr

Green:
NEW: Magnolia Summer by Jaci Burton – a renewed and new relationship, also some green on cover
TBR: His Wife For A While by Donna Fasano – new relationship, green cover
Magnolia Summer by Jaci Burton His Wife For A While by Donna Fasano

Red:
NEW: Dare Me by Jocelyn Bell – lots of passion (and red)
TBR: The Geek Next Door by Lauren Fraser – one of my favorite tropes. The reviews hint at a lot of hotness (read: passion), so that’s what I’m basing the pick on. Oh and the red in the cover.
Dare Me (Voyeur Series #1) by Jocelyn Bell The Geek Next Door by Lauren Fraser

Purple:
NEW: Truth or Dare by Lori Foster – Lori Foster, Maries Force, Jill Shalvis, Julie James, Susan Mallery, Shannon Stacey, Lora Leigh, Lorelie James – all contemp authors who I know will give me a satisfying read that will get me on an even keel (well, the last two might raise my heartbeat a bit…). This one is a trilogy of yummy novellas in a purple cover.
TBR: Nauti Boy by Lora Leigh – see above… slightly purplish cover ;-) Also very alpha-hole H's but so in love with the h's you have to forgive them.
Truth or Dare by Lori Foster Nauti Boy (Nauti, #1) by Lora Leigh

Black:
NEW: Night Blooming Jasmine by Alicia Thorne – I’m thinking the whole Brotherhood thing is a big ole secret from the world! Story is kind of dark, too. And then there’s the cover.
TBR: Hot Rock by Annie Seaton – this sounds really interesting and like they have secrets from each other.
Night Blooming Jasmine by Alicia Thorne Hot Rock by Annie Seaton

Orange:
NEW: Riding Wild by Jaci Burton – Yes, this is the second Jaci Burton, but it’s got adventure and it’s got orange.
TBR: Forged in Fire by by Trish McCallan – there is definitely lots of adventure in this one. And I love this series, though it's slow as molasses at being written or released.
Riding Wild (Wild Riders, #1) by Jaci Burton Forged in Fire (Red-Hot SEALs, #1) by Trish McCallan

Yellow:
NEW: Ring of Fire by Heather Huffman – kind of a cheesy cover but the h is a scientest and it’s a good story
TBR: The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden – He’s a scientest, and there’s yellow on the cover ;-)
Ring of Fire by Heather Huffman The Theory of Attraction (Science of Temptation, #1) by Delphine Dryden

Pink:

TBR: A Girl Like You by Maria Geraci – very pink. Sounds interesting, too.

My to-read-asap shelf is a lot more manageable! And really what is is on my radar. On the plain to-read shelf is a lot of freebies and stuff given to me that I might or might not get to someday. I also try to keep the next in series on my to-read-asap to help make that easier too.

But I'm looking forward to what you come up with for me!
