Brilliant review, Sally. You have really nailed the essence of the book.

Love your review Bette but was surprised about whose death left you so sad. It was sad yes, but wasn't it just normal old age? I thought you were talking about (view spoiler). I almost wish Gabaldon would not write another Outlander book. This one left all the important people in such a happy place. The others could be dealt with in another Lord John book.

Oh gosh, how did I forget him! Yes, I cried when that happened definitely. I loved him; I had such a clear mental picture of him and what happened was so unexpected. I've edited my review, thanks Phrynne.

Of course you don't! What you wrote is perfectly fine:) Anyway I cried most at the happy ending not the sad bits.

The Dinner is very good - I chose it for my bookclub and we certainly all had a lot to say about it! I am waiting for the library to get Summer House with Swimming Pool - sounds like that one is good too.

Yes, this book is certainly bursting with issues, Phrynne. Lamb's I Know This Much is True and The Hour I First Believed are so, so much better.

Don't you hate that! It's worse when you're in the middle of a gripping scene and the little box plonks itself in the middle of the text telling you to charge the battery!

Well in this case it was my fault. I left the WiFi switched on when I had finished ordering a book. That flattens the battery in no time
