What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

And I have also just finished The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty and loved it! 5★s

Great review, Brenda, I see you enjoyed it just as much as I did!

Yes, looking forward to Big Little Lies even more now.

Good to hear you enjoyed it, Julie - bring on Big Little Lies!
I took the opportunity between challenges to finish a series I have been reading with the final book called The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

Great review Julie:)
Am trying to catch up on a bit of backlog on my NG for reviews .. Reading Mountain Ash by Margareta Osborn at the moment - better late than never

Thanks Brenda, it's certainly proving to be a popular book. It would have to be one of the most regularly mentioned books here for some time.

Yes you're right Julie:) Certainly worth recommending to those who haven't read it yet!

That's for sure Marianne, it's so popular at the moment with this group, that it could turn out to be book of the month!

I'll review it later, but I really enjoyed it. Fancy inventing a magic system, where the 'libriomancer' can reach inside a book and pull out something useful! (Or dangerous and visit terror and destruction on the whole world...) The perfect magic system for obsessive readers!

I'll have to read that one at some point Brenda - I also struggle with books that have too many unlikeable characters.

I generally love Kate Forsyth's stuff, but unlikeable characters could be a real turn off for me.
Although I love JK Rowling's style of writing, when I read The Casual Vacancy I struggled with the characters - particularly staying interested enough in them to keep reading - and had to rate it down. It's really difficult when that happens, but it means I won't re-read it, and I only give four stars and up to books I'll re-read.
Yes I know a lot of people like Kate's work, and with no other reviews yet, I'm interested in seeing what others think. Sally is reading it at the moment too...

By the way, I am SURE The Chemistry of Tears was on The Book Club a few years ago - that's where I first heard about it. Did I just imagine that? If not, why would they be featuring it again? Either way, I can't wait to hear Marieke's views on it ;-)

About quarter of the way through. Is different to her previous works. That's not necessarily a bad thing though :)

Just starting Being Jade by Kate Belle. I was not a big fan of The Yearning so will see how this one goes.
Just finished The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. A lovely book with a rather over imaginative title. It is actually an excellent story about slavery and the fight for abolition in 19th century Charleston.
