I love this one. Brandon Sanderson's worldbuilding is my favourite thing about his writing -- so inventive. It's going to be a long wait for the full series, though. He says there'll be ten in all, and they're such doorstops it takes him a long time to write them!

OK I've fixed it! The kindle/ebook ones had St John - all the rest have St. John! A little thing like a fullstop! So I've put the fullstop in with them and combined them, so they're all together:)

Sorry, I sent you this because in the St John we were looking at there were only 2 books so I thought the rest should be listed, but you found the right author with all the books and joined them up, so all OK

Apparently number 2 Words of Radiance came out in March. Another doorstop at over 1000 pages. And at the moment it has a Goodreads rating of 4.78!

I loved it! Such inventive world building. I've read heaps of his books, and he always manages to make his worlds unique. The sheer detail that's gone into The Stormlight Saga world is remarkable. I really enjoy all the companion sketches sprinkled throughout the books.

I've read most of his others but this series is my favourite. As you say, so amazingly detailed! It's like his other books were warming up for this epic masterwork.

David Menon (wwwgoodreadscomdavidmenon) I'm reading 'The Farm' by Tom Rob-Smith. I absolutely loved his previous three books which formed a trilogy set in the Soviet Union of the 1950s and beginning with 'Child 44'. I've just started 'The Farm', it's set in contemporary Sweden and it hasn't gripped me yet although, like all good books from good writers, there'll be a boa constrictor lurking in the prose waiting to reach out and grab my imagination. 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' was like that for me. The first 50 odd pages I wondered what all the fuss was about but then it got me and I couldn't put it down. I'm sure 'The Farm' will be the same.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Thanks also Julie, Zoey, Brenda, Bette, Sharon & Dale for the likes on that review, it negates the criticism. I do try very hard NOT to put in spoilers as I know how annoying it is when you read a review that says "I was really upset that Jeffrey died" or the like.

Marianne I just had a look at your review and I really don't understand that comment!!! What spoilers, where??? I mean when you read the blurb it tells you who and what Serenity is and that a young war widow comes to see her and this is the story of the consequences of that meeting. You don't give anything away about what they are. I wouldn't stress about it. And I reckon if Brenda says they're not spoilers then they're not. :)

You're welcome, and I think that person just had a gripe - Elaine is right, as I re-read the blurb then your review, and it's pretty much the same! Just some embellishment on the brevity of the blurb (which is what I do) So just ignore her, she's got the problem, not you!
