That's about it Julie. The only way it will happen. I am craftily useless, unless it involves words.

I had a successful couple of hours this afternoon - specialist, waiting room, then not being able to drive for a couple of hours! I read Sisters At Heart by Juliet Madison, The Iron Road by Charlotte Nash and Where There's Smoke by Jodi Picoult:) All short stories of course! But I'll need to get my thoughts together before I can rate and review;)

Sally906 | 87 comments I have to confess I am not fond of Philippa Gregory's Plantagenet series. The first of her works I turned my nose up at.

The series starts with The White Queen and it had a strong paranormal element that did not sit well with me.
And I like paranormal books :)

Someone told me recently that The Lady of the Rivers is chronologically before the others and if I read that and then went back to the others it will make better sense. So I may just try that.

Sally, I have somewhere mentioned the incorrect listing of chronological order. I've just asked Brenda to fix the series numbering errors. I started reading the series out of order (thanks to GR) so haven't got to The White Queen yet.

I had a little scout around Wikipedia and apparently this era/reign was rife with rumor/suggestion of witchcraft etc. Supposedly started by those not in favor of Edward VI's choice of Elizabeth Woodville as his wife.

One might not be wrong in supposing that such rumor to discredit Woodville would have come from Earl of Warwick who until then had virtually stage-managed Edward's life.

I wonder if Goodreads could add a little box somewhere to indicate the chronological order of a series? I was never quite sure what that other number indicated but thought it referred to order of published so we could find their debut book :{

I'm glad you mentioned they were all short stories Brenda. I was beginning to think you had become even faster at reading. Hope all was okay with specialist visit.

Marina Finlayson | 285 comments Just finished The Edge of the Woods, which is by a new Aussie author.

Here's my review. (Hope I did that right!)

Also gobbled up The Screaming Staircase yesterday, as my little boy was raving about it. It was a fun read, though I could see why an eleven-year-old found it "really creepy"!

Haha! Read them all while relaxing over a coffee - I couldn't see very well, but managed! (Eye specialist, drops to enlarge the pupils!) The eyes didn't come good again until about 10pm last night! Thanks for asking:)

Did you read her first book The Wedding Season is it the same sort of tone - kind of chick litty but meatier?

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Finished The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

A comment only: Gregory tells the story of Elizabeth of York, daughter of a king, wife of a king and mother of a king. The author weaves a really riveting version of what happened to the Princes in the Tower. She also bids you to remember in Henry VII's reign that another two young men, Edward the Earl of Warwick and the boy Perkin Warbeck, died at his command. 4.5★

We had visitors yesterday and lastnight, so I didn't get very far into it, but really loving it so far! I love the style in which the story is told. Very simple, but seems to say it all. Plus I'm originally from country NSW, I don't think too far from the stories setting... so that adds an element of familiarity to life
