I agree Elaine that everyone should read/watch things for themselves because of the vast difference in people's opinions. I was thinking that when Bette was talking about The Tournament actually - I have it here to read and the reviews have been varied....one day!

Great review, this sounds like a good one Marianne.

Starting The Headmaster's Wife by Thomas Christopher Greene; he's like a smooth Richard Ford.

Just finished Rocking Horse Hill and really enjoyed it - the thriller part was a pleasant addition to the romance side.
I did guess the location where the climax was going to occur, but it did not deter from my enjoyment :)
I haven't read any of her others, but looking forwards to her next one whenever it comes out :)

I'd love to say it's nearly finished, but that would be a big fat lie. :)

I'll "third" that. :)

I've come to the realization that I like my historical fiction to be based around an actual event or person in history. Otherwise books with no point in fact simply seem to be novels based in the past. From that point of view I am a bit frustrated by the above novel so it's only a 3.5★
I thought you would pick In the Blood next as that was your alternate last time;)

I'll be interested in reading your review, Michael. Elaine and I are reading The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared at the moment - well, she's finished and I'm reading the last 8% - and we've enjoyed it. Some of the political details have gone a bit over my head at times, but it's generally been an amusing read so I think I might be interested in reading his second book at some point.

Kathryn i loved his first book. It cracked me up with his crew roaming the country trying to escape the bumbling bad guys and the authorities. Allan was a great charac..."
Yes Michael it was definitely a great, fun read and like Kathryn, I too can't wait to read your review of his second book. I think now that I really want to read The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden. If for no other reason than to experience Jonas Jonasson's great writing style again and to see what other entertaining story lines he comes up with.

Fantastic read.

Yes I have, Brenda. It's sitting on my bookshelf waiting patiently. I'm now reading something totally different : Matilda's Freedom by Téa Cooper which I'm rather enjoying :)

No I didn't know it was Sharon. That's a shame :( Perhaps she has changed publisher or something. I'll get in touch with her tomorrow for you if you like?
