It's not Christmas, but I've already dipped into the anthology to read PG Forte's sexy story where romance and the relationship is a journey. I loved that they were grownup characters confronting their vulnerabilities with courage. Also, oh my! It ma ...more

Great analysis of money laundering in Australia. Well explained for non-experts like me. Disturbing implications for how crime has infiltrated so many aspects of society, so many industries (finance, law, real estate).

A well-written canter through Russian history. Little snippets about key people (like Lenin's older brother's execution) add humanity and interest. Acknowledges that how we tell national history (what we believe) influences current events. ...more

Good point about UF - and this is a good example of a cozier, emotional UF novel.

I loved this conclusion to the Pack of Dawn and Destiny trilogy. KM Shea writes wonderful characters. In this series, it all felt real. Solid world building, a bit of humour, lots of action, and underpinning it all a heartwarming belief in people's g ...more

I love this series. The world building is excellent and there is a well-paced revelation of secrets through the series. Add in likeable characters and a solid mystery in each book and there's a reason I pre-order each one. Enjoyable for both fantasy ...more |

“Long ago, on Earth, he talked about friendship as being of three kinds. Where we can use someone or they can use us. A friendship of utility. Then there is the friendship that comes from deriving pleasure from a shared activity. Both of those types of friendship disappear when the utility or shared activity ends. The third type of friendship, of purely appreciating your friend, of valuing them for their inherent virtues and not for what you gain from being in relationship with them, is the rarest but the best.”

“He sighed deeply: to fall in love at first sight with this malodorous sleeping girl, with, as far as he could see, no pretensions to beauty or even good looks, was something he had not expected. But falling in love, he had always understood, was unpredictable, and, as far as he was concerned, irrevocable That they hadn't exchanged a word, nor spoken, made no difference. He, heart whole until that minute, and with no intention of marrying until it suited him, had lost that same heart.”

Thank you! "Excited" doesn't even come close to describing how I feel. I have to ration !!! or they'd take over my every post.
So happy!!! ;)

Japan must be so much more exciting than Canberra. I'm in Perth now, but I lived in Canberra about ten years ago. The people are great and well, I quite like country towns, so I enjoyed Canberra, too. But it's definitely not exciting. Still, I enjoyed being able to say I lived in the Australian capital and kangaroos really did jump through the streets :)

Thanks for the friendvite. :)

I was looking forward to reading more of TD, I thought it was a very interesting concept.
My writing is going ok, I've trundled down a different track with it now; started a new story.
Good to hear from you :)

Hi Renee
Thanks for asking! Unfortunately, the answer is no time soon. Life has caught up with me. I haven't even had a chance to catch up here on Goodreads. I have a novella coming out with Carina Press soon and I'm writing its sequel.
The Divide is likely hanging fire an awfully long time.
Hope your writing is going well? :)
