What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

Yes, fantasy is a strange genre fir me - I like some, but I am very selective - some fantasy is an OK level of "strange" for me and others just go a bit (or a lot!) too far for my enjoyment!

You might enjoy Coraline then as it's a children's book (a bit scary for kids IMO) so it's not too over the top.

OK, I'll keep it in mind!

Goddamnit what is it with me and finding cliffhangers to get attached to.

I finished Abhorsen which was lovely and ended the series so nicely.

And now I am going to start Written in My Own Heart's Blood. I have a million other books I should read first but I have been waiting four years for this to come out and I am not going to wait any longer:)

Went back to uni this week, hopefully I still get some time for reading still. The Sandman, Vol. 5: A Game of You

Yeah a mate of mine has been screaming in my ear about them constantly, she loves them. I've got the 3rd book - second one isn't anywhere in my library! :(
I have just this minute finished an amazing book -
Lord Somerton's Heir by Aussie author Alison Stuart - my review will follow, but what a wonderful book!

Her books are very engaging, full of wry observations (often aimed at herself) on Parisian life and the French way of doing things, while exhibiting a real affection for her adopted country. Recommended if you feel like something light and humorous to read.

That's good Liza:)

That sounds like my cup of tea - it's going on my TBR.

I agree, a great book, Liza. Look forward to your review.

Enjoy Deb. I've still got probably a couple of weeks before I will get to start it. But soooo looking forward to it :)

No good for me - I don't have Foxtel.

I just finished Written in My Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon and I have tried to write a review which isn't just raving about how good the book is - because it is brilliant!!!

My head is still with Claire and Jamie Fraser in Written in My Own Heart's Blood but I now have to go back to my buddy read with Tien Bitter Greens. Neither of us is particularly enthused over this book :(

I found this one quite different, but in the end, really liked it. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I have The Dinner on my Kindle - sounds like I need to get onto it, pronto!

Good review, Phrynne. I have 50 pages left to finish the book. You know, with all the magic of the stones etc, I would have liked it if she had let ..... live. I cried when he died.
(Not disclosing name here).
Thanks Bette. My impulse was to rave on for hours but that isn't really constructive plus it's hard to avoid spoilers.
If you are referring to the death that made me really sad too I think it was possibly for the best. He would not have had a good life in those days.

I just got a reminder from the library
that We Are Water by Wally Lamb is due back on Wednesday and someone else is waiting for it so I had better drop everything else and get started on it!

Ooh, that sounds like a good one for my daughter. She's been studying Romeo and Juliet at school.

I read Breath a while ago, and thought he did such a wonderful job of capturing that period and also the feeling of holding your breath under water till you might explode. Evocative.

I've never read any by him either, but then I'm not very much into fantasy so he might not be quite to my liking...
