Wonderful to have you back, Miss Vicki:)
I have finished and reviewed Karin Slaughter's newest, Cop Town - brilliant! She doesn't disappoint! 5★s

Thanks Vicki :) You'll definitely enjoy it.

Well the 1-star rating is described as 'Didn't like it'. So if you try to read it, get 50 pages in and can't get any further... seems like it fits fine.
I have more of a problem with people giving books that aren't out yet 5-star ratings. I swear this is the only reason The Casual Vacancy is above 3 stars.

Yes, I had really mixed feelings about that one when I read it, Liam.

I couldn't stand The Casual Vacancy either. Was a DNF for me.

I've started A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro

Can we expect some even more dazzling commentary from you Vicki? ;)

Each to his own, I guess, I thought it was a brilliant read.

Started The Camomile Lawn by Mary Wesley

I bought that this morning. The guy in the bookstore asked if I thought he should read the series and I said YES! (have you seen it has a 4.77 rating on Goodreads. That's rather good)

That's amazing! But then, it's an amazing series all round. It's alternating between hailing and raining here, and I think I'm going to curl up on the couch with me kindle right now, and just read :) Happy reading Phrynne!

The wind just hit us in Sydney. I have a gum tree outside my window which keeps leaning rather dangerously and all sorts of things are bashing and scraping on the roof. I think I will retreat to a warm corner with my book too.

just finished We Were Liars which was okay - Personally didn't think it was worthy of the hype over it on BookTube. Anyway ... now reading Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell

That sounds great - it's going on the list (I haven't read any Hornby for a long time, either).
I finished and loved Scoop by Evelyn Waugh. So entertaining!

This is my first by her and its been on my shelf for ages - I'm enjoying it so far although I just discovered I have been "pronouncing" one of the characters names wrong lol Aoife / Eva .. really?

For non fiction I am reading one by Glenda MacNaughton called Doing Foucault in Early Childhood (or something like that) which is a lot more interesting and fun than you might think from the title.
I also have a mile high stack for my "to read" but I skim read some, read others properly and get through a fraction of them (I am banning myself from sites like the book depository for a while though)

Oh yeah, I started this book and a few pages in I looked up in the Internet how to pronounce that because I couldn't stand the idea that I would be saying it wrong in my head for the whole book! It's one of those ?Celtic ?Irish names like Eoin and Siobhan which sound NOTHING like they look.

- "Coast to Coast 1944". They were anthologies
issued every year, edited by Vance Palmer. There
are stories in this one by up and coming writers
Ruth Park and Jon Cleary. Pretty good.

and now for something completely different:
