TT2-Read-a-Thon Mini-Challenges&Games

I'm the same way, Teresa, which is one reason I try to get a copy of our new releases *before everybody else does. I want to read it and form my own opinion before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon :)

Add me to that list as well. Actually, I think most readers are moody readers, if we're honest with ourselves :)

Mini-Challenge #9: A Rose by Any Name
C - Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator - Steven (Mango Tango)
L - Looking for Alibrandi - ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (Cadet Blue)
A - A Devil's Touch - Lisa Kay (Cadet Blue)
I - In the Company of Vampires - Sonia (Cadet Blue)
R - Red Mist - Stacie (Tickle Me Pink)
E - Eden - Ezinwanyi (Cerulean aka Hobbit Blue)

I wouldn't pick a book up if I didn't like the cover but on my kindle, the cover doesn't make so much of a difference. However, a good cover will catch my eye on Amazon and the opposite is true.

LOL glad you got a laugh out of that one Teresa!!! I would love to just rip her a new......ummmm.....well you know....BADORKAS!!!!Such a bad bad role model for the young adult females of our society to idolize. You are much more lenient on her than I would be by just slapping her LMBO
I picked up The Book Thief a couple of years ago when my youngest son had to read it in school. He talked me into it telling me what a good book it was. This was long before I was a member of GR and saw all the hype about it. It was a DNF for me simply because I thought the use of Death as a narrator was utterly ridiculous. I loathe repetition in a book and this is exactly what was executed...death telling me what was going to happen and then I had to read it again when it did happen or reading something that happened and Death re-telling it for me. Instant replays are fine in some cases but not in books LOL
I am a very moody reader also Steven. Sometimes certain things just irritate the doo-doo out of me and other times it doesn't. But I think a lot of it depends on my mood as well as whether other aspects of the book are good or bad.

**Grins** Thanks Barb!!! LOL I have read books in which I didn't like the characters BUT Bella takes the cake. I am going with Daffy Duck on this one and say:
BELLA

I'm a cover lover! But the synopsis is the deciding factor of to read or not to read.

Went through the books that I've read and came up with these. Definitely not the prettiest collection though!

Covers you think are artistic, Leslie.

LOL! Well, I don't know if he is naked. That part is invisible. But, he could be. Or maybe he's in bathing trunks? You decide.

I loved the cruises we've done. I fell in love with Nassau on our last trip but it's harder to find fun books with the Bahamas on the cover ;)

My favorite vacation destination is (almost) anywhere a cruise ship takes me, so I've found book covers with cruise ships on them -- although the ship is rather small in the second one :)

I've never been, but my idea of a perfect vacation is to visit a castle in Scotland.

◈ Mini-Challenge #14: Book Chain

While smoking their stash of pipe weed (adult Hobbits only!), co-captains of Hobbit Team (aka Cerulean) came with great idea for RaT mini-challenge.
The way they explained it, as best they could, follows. :D
It's book chain.
One of the Captains (or Mods) post a book/cover; next one has to match it by author's first/last name; or word in title; or something on the cover, and so on.
Example:
First person, Hobbit Turtlecollector, posts:
Confessions of a Murder Suspect, James Patterson
The next person, could post:

or...Requiem, by Lauren Oliver (because of girl on cover)
or...Confessions of a Shopaholic, by Sophie Kinsella (because of the word "confessions" in the title)
