Agreed! Although I haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but I keep hearing great things.
I also loved the newsflesh trilogy. After Feed I just didn't see how she could write a series, so I was pleasantly surprised! I actually enjoyed the second book more, and then when I got to Blackout I was super impressed. An incredibly well written series!

You and me both, Stacie! I've only read two of the Grant County series but I really like them.

I have read these out of order but it doesn't matter because they are great.

One of my favorites!! I want to read them again.

Arcane Society by Jayne Anne Krentz

I'm going to start this series soon. I checked out Second Sight but didn't get to finish it. I liked what I read, though!

Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. I can usually finish one of these books within 2 days if I really try. Some of the books have been meh, but overall I like the series. A couple of these are combined with his Mickey Haller series, which I also like and went ahead and added in the spoiler tag. The only book of this series that I haven't read is the most recent and it's going to be read very soon.

My faaaavvooorrriiitteeee is Harry Dresden. Who doesn't love a smart aleck wizard from Chicago?

[bookcov..."
I have these to start soon too!
Me too, Steven! Maybe we can do a buddy read at some point this summer?

I think I've only read one of him books. I must get back to him.

I didn't know there were four books in that series. Geez. I only read the first one!
**Lisa Kay scurries off to library website again!**

Just thought I'd throw that out there."
Gee thanks, mon capitan *sigh* I needed that tonight :P

That's one of the few series that I'm actually caught up on! At least till the next book comes out LOL

There is so much angst in that series it's ridiculous. Which is exactly why I love it so much. :D It's perfect for those days when you actually want someone to rip out your heart and eat it. lol Or maybe that's just me....

Cadet Blue
I snuck over to Wild Blue Yonger and checked out what Erin had to say about Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead. I've been putting off starting this series, and it looks like she has too. However, she gave it ★★★★★ in her wonderful goodreads review .

I'm so happy to find someone else who enjoyed that series! I was sad when it ended :(

Hope you like them. :D They are some of my favorite books. "
I second that! I just read the newest one a week or so ago, so now I have to wait another year till the *next one comes out!

LMBO! I do go through periods of wanting angst, but otherwise I stay away from it. LOL! I'm such a moody reader; however, it is good to know that there is something besides my Harlequin Presents for that! LOL!

Team Leather Jacket Black

I loved the first one in this series; I need to get back to it and read the rest!

Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. I can usually finish one of these books within 2 days if I really try. "
I just read the first in this series last month. I need to remember to add the next one to my TBR list :)

Team Leather Jacket Black

Yes, I love the clever Flavia de Luce #1 series. Another one to which I must return!
@Barb and Lisa Kay - I picked up the first one for a book club a while ago and then couldn't help myself but to continue to read the series. I'm not sure what it is, but on some level I think it just takes me back to the kind of books I read as a kid. They are what I would call "happy reads"... enjoyable and not too much thinking required :)

Whoa. Babe."
I was avoiding work. It made some time go by.

I will warn you to be prepared. That's all I will say.

I also love the Monkeewrench series.

I'm a big YA fan so I'm posting these that I've enjoyed:

And this one, though I haven't read the last in the series:

This one:

And thanks to NBRC I found this series, but still have to read the 2nd and 3rd:

Joanne♥ from Tickle Me Pink
Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
Tiger's Saga by Colleen Houck
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Decided to add a couple more of favorite ones on here.
Taylor Jackson Series

Oh yeah, I have the Taylor Jackson series on my mountain but I'd forgotten about it. This is fun, discovering all these series I want to read.

Re: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and the rest of the series
We just did this for our book group last week, and one of the things we found were a lot of comparisons between Alan Bradley and Agatha Christie. When you realize that he was in his 70s when he started writing this series, I guess its being Christie-like makes sense.

Yes, good point. They are very much like that. If only Christie had made a teenager detective! Although Poirot and Marple would be hard to beat :)
I was surprised in my book club I am the only one to really love Flavia and continue the series. It is great to think that one's mind can be so active in your 70s to write so well, isn't it? I can only hope to be like that someday!

Had some cute moments with Flavia but it was a bit draggy and wordy for me. Too many similes! Not sure I liked what happened once Flavia realized who the murderer was. Thought it was a bit much (but I don't want to reveal anything so I'll just have to leave it at that!)
I also mentioned in my comments that I had issues with it being in first person because I found some of her observations felt unrealistic, since she was all of 11-years-old. I don't remember specifics now. I wanted to like the series but I just don't think I'll bother with it unless I get tired of other series.
I think of you didn't like the first one Teresa there is no point continuing as the rest of the books are similar! You're right, Flavia is awfully clever for 11, but then so is Artemis Fowl and I love those books too.... Maybe I like them as it's just what I wished I was at that age? lol

My son has always been very into planes and all things related to aviation. When he was 8-9 years old, my mom took him, his sister and two of their friends to see some old WW2 planes at their local airport. Jason started telling the kids all about how this worked, and why that was put in this part of the plane, etc.
Mom turned around and saw a handful of older men following, listening to what Jason had to say -- and laughed when they admitted that he knew more about the planes on display than they did!
So yes, I believe it IS possible to have a child who is totally absorbed in a topic and is knowledgeable beyond his/her years :)
