I finally finished a book! I read
. It started off a bit slow but when it picked up, I enjoyed it! It's a YA, thought provoking with lots of room for discussion. Now, what to read next....

I started
on audio. I've only started listening to audio for the past year or year and a half, and I love it! What a great way to catch up with series that have a lot of books out and keep up with current releases at the same time.
totally agree Angie. i love audio books too. it brings the stories to life. especially when u have a great narrator. i also love the series ur starting. have fun =D

I finished my listen of

before I went back, I'm going to start it from the beginning in audio.

I had some issues with books 2 and 4, but thought 3 was done quite well. The main heroine had some grit compared to the other female leads, which I liked.

Em definitely gave Hunter a run for his money. they made a great couple. she never let him off easy.
although, i liked bk2 as well. Ruger is definitely on the rough side and he was a bit confusing but i liked him too. bk 1 was actually not so good for me. and i've finished bk4 (Picnic's book) and it was good too. not my favorite, but entertaining. hehe

i was a little frustrated with the book in the beginning, but i liked the ending and how supportive Dante's family was to their relationship. i would be interested to see how their buddies take the change though. and Griff's father. although, i know he won't be kind.
A few years ago, I was walking through a shopping centre when this young woman bailed me up and starting talking about skin care products. I'm a guy but hey, I take care of my skin. I use L'Oreal Men Expert! It has "expert" in its name so it must be good. Anyway, apparently I was doing terrible damage to my skin using that vile product and before long her breasts had me convinced that I should buy some Dead Sea Salt product.
Need proof? OK...here is a jar of unused dead sea salt that is 4, maybe 5 years old.
Anyway, the point is, I thought that woman with the perky breasts was interested in me! But as it turns out she was only interested in selling me a $50 jar of salt!
Which brings me to Sabotaged. I requested this thinking I was getting Romantic Suspense centred around the Iditarod Dog Sled Race. No mention that this book was christian in the synopsis. That every chapter a character would start praying. No mention that I was going to get preached at.
It's not bad for what it is and if I was told going in it was christian romance I might feel a little more generous but I kind of feel like I've been tricked into reading it.
Anyway...objectively 3 Stars. But my personal "distracted by perky breasts so the missionary can slip a tract into my back pocket" rating is 2 Stars.

Instead of the living breathing fabulous people I have read and re-read. i'm not even going to be reviewing it because I'm not doing less than 3 stars and I don't think I can even give it that.
I am at about 45% and am enjoy it much more than Iced. I am enjoying being back in the Fever world and in Mac's head. But I heard it ends on a cliff hanger.

Kay, you should give it a try. Everyone has different experiences. That is what I wish people would get. You might end up loving it which would be a plus for you :)

So true...everyone does have different experiences! I am just nervous that one of my beloved favorite series will disappoint me. I loved how Shadowfever ended and I felt closure with Mac & Barrons. With Iced, I thought it would be the beginning of Dani's story and possibly just scenes with Mac & Barrons. I didn't realize that Mac would be back as one of the POVs in Burned. So, I am just nervous and don't want to taint one of my favorite UF couples...if I'm making any sense here.
Makes perfect sense, Kay. It was a bitter pill for me to swallow. I have been on a high from this series. Well book 1 was sluggish but after that I have rode the wave. I will continue with the next book but I'm more apprehensive about it. If you do read it, let us know your thoughts.
I wasn't a fan of Mac having such a strong presence in Burned (and the first half was a slower read than the previous books) but I still liked the book. It wasn't a favorite, but it was still decent.

I just finished Burned. It exceeded my expectations in every single way. I really enjoyed it and maybe even kinda loved it. I loved being back wkth Mac. I think having her be the lead was the best answer and is the only reason I enjoyed it. I think there were two bad plot devices that I would characyerize as lazy writing or a lazy method to tell a story. I did not appreciate her KMM's multiple communications to he readers (ie answering all of the negative reviews). But despite those I still really enjoyed it.
I'm reading it now and I suppose since I was soooooo angry about Iced, and she went a completely different route with this one, I'm enjoying this one far more.I did not like Dani's story at all. I agree with Regina, I think being back with Mac was definitely the best answer.
I liked Burned but feel like it compromised the flow of the story some to switch back to Mac as the main PoV. It smacks of indecisiveness on the author's part and (possibly) pressure from the readers to compromise the direction that she wanted to go in (switching a story mid-stream can make for disjointed storytelling). But...I still liked the book, so I can't complain too much. I really don't know why so many people disliked it. Moning writes entertaining stuff, even if the characters say or do things that I don't always like.Since I finally finished a book this year (hah), I figured I'd keep going and actually read some more, so I'm starting

I did too, Dee. I haven't disliked any Fever book. Sure, there were some I didn't care for as much as others, but all of the books have had a fair amount of entertainment value. Maybe I'm more forgiving with some of the issues/plot devices that would bother the hell out of me if they were used in contemporary books because of the paranormal element explaining away things like (view spoiler)
Interesting idea, but (view spoiler)The more I am away from the book (maybe 18 hours now), the more I love it. I think KMM was taking a huge chance to have Dani be the protagonist and it failed. I personally think it is good she recognized it and realigned. I do not like when authors respond so much to readers (I am thinking of JR Ward here), but I see this as different compared to what Ward does. Ward writes storylines in that people want. KMM removed a storyline that people hated but still took the story in the direction she wanted to go. It is obvious that she is till pointing at Ryo and Dani together and that Dani is a key part of the story. She experimented with a method, and it was almost entirely rejected -- so she decided to tell it a different way. I strongly believe we are getting the same direction and storyline about the fever world, just told in a different way. I guess I see that different from readers affirmatively wanting one thing in the book and Ward plops it in. But also, personally I never felt like Mac's story was over. Big things and changes happened at the end of Shadowfever and are still happening that need to be resolved. She is such a good character, so many books could be about her. And her and Barrons will never have a typical HEA, thank goodness -- so there will always be great stuff to write there. I loved Barrons in this book. I also liked that she affirmatively drew distinctions between Ryo and Barrons so that readers could see the difference. Often in Iced, Ryo felt like Barrons.
The only Fever book I ever disliked and was outright bored with was Iced. It made me fall asleep.
There is one plot device that I understand why she did it in Burned and I think it was related to the shift and she had to explain or have a reason for Mac to be telling the story -- I don't think it is the greatest way to tell the story. But in the end, I still really enjoyed the book!
Did you notice all the explanation points she used in this book? I started highlighting those sentences -- it was like reading an email or web post. :)
See I loved Iced so I saw it differently. I think that is why it was almost jarring for me to switch like this. I got over Mac being the primary POV once she announced it. You can't change someone's opinion. I even understood it once Dani went away. While I have never been the biggest Mac fan, I do agree that there are some things that still was not closed in Shadowfever so I expected to come back to those.I don't know if I agree that Iced was a fail but I know a lot of people didn't love it and they didn't necessarily cared for Dani or even Ryo. I heart them. The same goes with Burned. It is a mix bag to tell you the truth. That might be one of the reasons I didn't rate the book yet. I'm debating on even writing a review.
The first book was the only book (beside Burned) that I didn't care for. I had to start it in audio to appreciate it but the series picked up from there and I was an addict...still is! LOL. I'm already thinking of what could possibly happen next.
I wonder if there is a theme? I know many people didn't like the first one or found it to be slow or found pink Mac to be irritating. Were those readers more likely to enjoy Iced? I loved Mac from the first page and was so inlove with the world and the series from the get go -- so for me, Iced was such a deviation. One of the hardest things for me to swallow in Iced was how she wrote the MacKeltars and Christian. I have read the Highlander series so many times and Daegas and Christian were my favorite characters written by her -- but she deviated from what she had written about them and I just felt like Iced was inconsistent with what she had done earlier. Dani's POV never bothered me though -- but I prefer Mac's. :)
I am really excited at the end of Burned and what it means for the next book!

I haven't read all of the Highlanders. Only the first one to be honest which I didn't love. What were the MacKeltars and Christian like that was so different in Iced? Awww...I was scared the next book wouldn't be out in October. I'm still a huge fan so I still want more. I'm greedy like that :)

In fact that was one of my theories going into Burned so I was so pleased to know I was on the money because KMM throws some twist and I hardly ever guessed right.

I have a question...do you know where I can go to get spoilers on a series? I am reading a series right now and the author pissed me off. I do not want to continue reading the books.
