You've already read 17 books this year, as in 2023? Because that's actually a lot for most of us. :D

Are you looking for ideas? Or just need a break?"
i think i'm going to take a break-ish...i mean i'm still reading, but normally by this point i've been 10-15 books and i think i'm only on like book 6 for the year. i've been working on my epic cross-stitch a lot more too

Have you seen this? The minute I saw it I had to share it with the Penny Reid FB group .... a lot of creators in that group. The artists name is Lucy Simpson Kilvington.

Wendy - this is the pattern i'm doing -

its pretty slow going - but i've got the outside for the right half of the pattern nearly done, will then work on filling it in before moving to the left

I used to do hook rugs when I was younger. It was nice doing something with my hands.

I'm just a little bit into it, my goal this year to to read whats on my nightstand - this is the one i'm starting with.
Super glad to be back reading and thanks for getting the group going again.

I've been reading a lot of Mystery/Thriller lately, but I haven't read anything from Lisa Jewell yet. I need to check her books out!

I finished A Hard Day for a Hangover, which closed out this trilogy for me, provided the author doesn't decide to keep going. Honestly, I hate that. The series always seems to go downhill when an author continues writing a series that had a clear ending, so I'm not sure I'll continue. Especially since I wasn't really thrilled with the series to begin with.
Last night I started A Veiled & Hallowed Eve. It's also the last book in a series, and I was hoping to close this one too. Sadly, trying to read it was putting me to sleep and reminded me of how I was feeling before I went on my reading hiatus. I didn't want to find myself back in that dark place, so I'm setting it aside.
Instead, last night, I switched to Indigo Ridge. It was on a whim after reading a Goodreads friends review of the 5th book in the series. It was a kindle unlimited read, and since I have a KU account, I grabbed it. I'm enjoying it quite a bit, and read to 50% last night without feeling like I was falling asleep, which only cemented the decision to set aside the Soulbound book.

I have an about of hour of Nona the Ninth to listen to - this series has definately kept me guessing, I was so confused for most of the book where nona fit in and then it call clicked into place with one reveal.
currently reading Educated by the Earl (historical fiction series where the heroes are all second sons - those who are supposed to fight vs. inheriting the title); also reading Hide (police procedural set in Chicago) and Blackwater Falls (also a police procedural, but focused on community response units vs. the traditional police - the lead is a muslim detective)

I finished Indigo Ridge, and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm going to talk more about it in the Kindle Unlimited thread next. Because I loved it so much, I'm jumping right into Juniper Hill.
Also, I've been binge-listening to the Kate Daniels books on audible, but I needed a break. I've switched to listening to All Rhodes Lead Here instead.

WOW! Book 7. You really ARE going full throttle on this series. ;)

I am. The thing is, the author does a fantastic job of setting up the next book in the series. She introduces the next couple just enough to that you're invested in continuing. I think that's a skill. With that said, I can't decide if I should keep going with BKI, or going back to Devneys Eden family.

I just finished Bacchanal by Veronica G. Henry and it was challenging. So many trigger warnings in this book. It's about a black woman in the deep south in the 1930s...there is racism including the murder of a black man by the KKK. There is animal death. There is child death.
I avoid books with this sort of stuff in it but I managed to battle my way to the end and it was well worth the effort.
But I need something lighter now so I'm reading Slaying Monsters for the Feeble by Annette Marie.

I know I should read more about problematic times in human history, both here in the US and stories of Nazi Germany for example. It is just so hard for me. My anxiety gets so bad it's hard to pick the books up.
I find myself fleeing from it. In the last few years, I've learned that my DNA has too much flee, and very little fight. Reading or watching violence like that causes anxiety attacks. I dislike it about myself, but it's who I am.
On another note, funny you bring up Annette Marie. I'm up to book 3 in the Spellbound Codex series, and I read the first Warped book.

Maybe have a look at the synopsis and see if you think you can deal…everyone’s different but I found it OK.

And out of the blue last night I dreamt about a book I read years ago called A Summer in Sonoma by Robyn Carr. Kind of skirts the line between women's fiction and contemporary romance. So if nothing else comes up I'll probably reread that over the next few days.

The next book in Sarah Lyons Fleming's Cascadia series must be coming out soon....but she never makes "coming soon" announcements. The book just shows up one day with absolutely no fanfare. So I check Amazon every couple of days just to make sure I haven't missed it.

So I returned it and used my refund to buy Once Upon a Devilishly Enchanting Kiss by Maggie Fenton....I imagine it will be a regency romp and from every other book by Maggie Fenton I've read I think it will be a laugh out loud funny blast.

Also, that sounds absolutely adorable!! I may have to check that out!

I FINALLY finished Chick Magnet, and what a chore that was. It was pretty boring.
I started Travis by Mia Sheridan, and I really like it so far. It's coming out next month from Sourcebooks Bloom. I'm pretty sure it's a reissue of a book she originally self published. I picked it up on Netgalley as 'Read Now' mostly because it takes place in Maine.

I finished Only When It's Us, and now I'm reading Terms and Conditions. I'm on my phone so I can't add a picture.

I'm halfway through Wonderland, and I am really enjoying it. I only have it in audio, so it slows me down a bit. I should have trusted Jennifer Hillier. Three reads, and she hasn't let me down yet.

I finished Terms & Conditions. I'm a bit surprised that I like that trilogy so far. I also read book 10 in the BKI series, called Fuel for Fire. I've only got 2 books left and then I've finished that series. There is a spinoff too, so I think I'll keep reading Julie Ann Walker.
Next, I'm going to read People We Meet on Vacation. It's the last Emily Henry book I have to read before Happy Place comes out. I'll have completed her backlist.

I finished Terms & Conditions. I'm a bit surprised that I like that trilogy so ..."
The only one I have left is Book Lovers, and I am debating on if I want to read it now, or if I want an unread Emily Henry in the world. It's why I haven't picked up the one Alice Feeney I haven't read. I need to know it's out there for me. LOL
I'm glad you're finding so many books to enjoy! I'll have to check out the series with Terms and Conditions.

OK - I looked Terms and Conditions up. I was going to say that I'm surprised you picked it up because that author is quite hyped. But that's me that is hype-resistant. Not you.

Now I am reading

I've read 17 books this year and 11 are rereads. Though I'm reading Bacchanal by Veronica G. Henry atm and it's sooo good. I read The Quarter Storm last year and loved it so it's nice to revisit this author.
