Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished Fire Touched (Mercy Thompson, #9) by Patricia Briggs Another excellent read. I feel like there was a bit better of a relationship/plot balance in the previous book but still very happy to be back with Mercy.

Ian is super funny. nonchalant and all. he surprises Beth lots =D he's not as crazy as everyone puts on. and his honesty is funny at times. u don't expect anyone to be that honest.

This is one of my favorites, too. So many layers to these characters and this story.

Leea | 1437 comments Hi, I haven't been around much - lost my reading bug. I just read The Girl on the Train and couldn't put it down. It wasn't the best book i've read - but it kept me reading and that's awesome.

Hope this finds you all doing well :)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments finished listening to Fifty Shades of Alice Through the Looking Glass (Fifty Shades of Alice Trilogy #2) by Melinda DuChamp . nice quick raunchy read. liked the initial book better though. hehe

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments i've finished Bound by Flames and Blurred Lines.
now on to Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland . i read a Vi Keeland book about a month ago and loved it. hope this one is as good.

message 7369: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments i finished Stuck-Up Suit and i loved it!! didn't want it to end. i'm like a junky. i need another Vi keeland- Penelope Ward novel.
i don't generally like dual author books, but i've enjoyed their books immensely.
just to keep my reading streak going i've rented Good Girl (Love Unexpectedly, #2) by Lauren Layne

message 7370: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments i finished The Baller: A Down and Dirty Football Novel a couple days ago and it was awesome. i'm seriously loving Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. they have some fun plot filled reads =D
currently listening/reading Ravished by a Highlander (Children of the Mist, #1) by Paula Quinn

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Just finished Appointed By Fate.

Ever read a good book that just wasn't for you?

That's this book for me. It's actually a very good slow burn Romantic Suspense but the main character has intimate relationships with all three of the male characters.

In Erotic Fiction I don't mind that....but it's kind of tough in a book that's trying to be romance.

message 7372: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Now I just wish Penny Reid would sort out her narrator problems and get the audiobook for Beard in Mind out.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Joyfully His A Novella (Sterling Canyon) by Jamie Beck

I quite liked this book...at 100 pages it's a quick and easy novella.

But if I can be just a little pedantic...

That cover is ridiculous. It has a snowman and that's supposed to convey what? Snow? It's about two ski instructors who have emotional baggage. They didn't stand around making snowmen. And the cover models look nothing like the characters.

Oh, I hate when the cover doesn't match the book - they way the characters are supposed to look and the tone. Glad you liked it, though!

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Reading Wish Me Home which is great even if it's kind of unlikely. I mean police officers don't pick up vagrants and take them home to their mother for a meal and a bed.

I am enjoying it despite the way it glamourises poverty and homelessness.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Is anyone interested in reviving this thread??? I'm reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo...so far no True Love in it. How about you guys and gals?

It's funny you should say that... I actually bought the new paperback that includes all three STEM romance novella's. I've recently discovered I love scientists and romance... it's my new niche!

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments The male narrator is Teddy Hamilton. He was one of the voices in HIM.

message 7383: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments It's a dual narration too! You're killing me, Angie!

message 7384: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading Off the Deep End by Lucinda Berry, and I feel like that's exactly what has happened to this book. It's taken an inauthentic turn that's really turning me off to the book.

message 7385: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments As much as I hate it, I still find myself looking at GR ratings before I start reading. Off the Deep End doesn't look to be doing the bestest...

I'm currently reading Born Wild (Black Knights Inc., #5) by Julie Ann Walker .

It's the 5th book in the series and while it's not up to Troubleshooter standards for me, it's the perfect escapist Romantic Thriller.

message 7386: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I should, but usually a lower rated book is good news for me.

Very nice. I haven't read her yet, but she's pretty prolific, so you have a lot of reads ahead of you if you dive into the backlist.

message 7387: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Yep! And I might too. There's also going to be a sister series to this Black Knights Inc series that's not out yet but in the works. I do love me some romantic suspense/thriller. Especially military. :)

message 7388: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I finished Off the Deep End. Thank God that's over. Now I can focus on finishing up Chick Magnet by Emma Barry , which I am, admittedly not loving. But not enough to stop reading it. I think it could pick up.

message 7389: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I finished Born Wild, and it was the BEST one so far. I couldn't stop reading it. I love that feeling.

Now I'm reading Warping Minds & Other Misdemeanors

That looks kind of awesome. But the title is...not that great. LOL It sounds non-fiction.

message 7391: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments LMAO! I agree, the series isn't well named, but they are very fun. This is part of the Guild Codex Universe I'm reading, which starts with Three Mages and a Margarita

I ended up waiting, because Born Wild was so good I really wanted to keep going with BKI, so instead I'm reading Hell for Leather.

message 7392: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments There is a quote from the Guild Codex: Demonised that I love.

Two demons talking to each other, one is a first house demon and the other is from the 9th house. Because the 9th house is much weaker he has had to learn tricks and use cunning to survive.

“You think that if you do not know a magic, it is not real? Smart. You will live long thinking that.”

message 7393: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I've been struggling to find books that interest me lately.

I read Undead Menagerie by A.M. Geever earlier in the month. Given to me by the author who grew up in Pittsburgh. It's zombies but in a small way it's a love letter from the author to the city.

Last week I reread Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson book 1) which is a lot of fun. And at the moment I'm rereading Two Witches and a Whiskey by Annette Marie.

It seems like there aren't as many new releases coming through at the moment. I would think this would be when the market was flooded with them.

message 7394: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I hadn't heard of Nice Girls, but I've been eyeing UF lately, so I'll have to check that out.

I think I put off Warping Minds partially because I really liked Tori. She was a fun character to read. Can you answer a question? Is there a clear romance in this? I couldn't seem to figure it out by skimming reviews.

Did you liked the Warped books?

message 7395: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Wendy F wrote: "I hadn't heard of Nice Girls, but I've been eyeing UF lately, so I'll have to check that out.

Nice Girls is more PR than UF. It's a hoot. A lot of fun.

In order....favorite to least favorite...Guild Codex

1. Demonised
2. Spellbound
3. Unveiled
4. Warped

I don't really know for sure but warped has two authors listed and I wonder if Annette Marie just put her name on the cover and didn't do much more. It seems a little different to the others.

I do like it, I just like the others more.

message 7396: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments okay. that's good to know. are there crossovers? I'm a curious cat. and I do like some romance!

message 7397: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments There are romantic elements in all of the guild codex books…not the main story so much as an undercurrent.

message 7398: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I read Warping Minds in 1 day, which is pretty awesome. I blew through it. I liked it. I still think I like Tori and her three mages best, but it was pretty enjoyable.

I'm now reading The Studying Hours. For some reason, I was hit with a major urge to finally read something by Sara Ney. So far it's not bad, but I can see why it's the "douchebag" series. I seriously want to junk-punch Oz.

message 7399: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I'm back again.... updating what I'm reading. I'm superfast!

I finished The Studying Hours. It had some good, it had some bad, but in the end, Oz did show some pretty nice character growth and I did a smidgeon of swooning. Next in the series is Zeke's book, and he was WORSE than a douchebag. I'm not jumping right back in though, I'm gonna need an "idiot man" break first.

I'm going to read A Hard Day for a Hangover, which will conclude the series for me. I'll be checking it off my spreadsheet.
