Leea | 1437 comments I read a huge chunk of Against the Dark (Associates, #1) by Carolyn Crane tonight and it's a fast read for sure. I have to say, I didn't expect this kind of sexy. This hero is a total nerd, glasses but he's playing this take charge guy who has to show his mob boss that he's like that. There is this hot hot scene with some fantastic hair pulling. Wow!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Sounds like something I'd like. Nerds and a mob boss? I'm intrigued.

Finished The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle and it reads like a combination of the movie Almost Famous and a horror movie mixed in with some sexy time. I liked the book but mostly because of the crazy second half. It was a bit of a slow starter.

Still working on The Exiled Queen (Seven Realms, #2) by Cinda Williams Chima and absolutely LOVING it, and I started The Collector (Dante Walker, #1) by Victoria Scott because I've heard it's got some good snark.

message 53: by Carina (new)

Carina Hoping to get back on track and normal this week!
I'll be starting The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead tomorrow or tuesday and then I'm gonna tackle some awesome arcs!!

message 54: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Wendy F wrote: "Well, I can say that wouldn't bother me, lol. I've read plenty of YA without a major romance, love triangle, or beautiful but lonely girls."

I know, LOL! To me, it feels more appropriate for adult readers because you can get past the outcast part. I mean, there's a character that's super fat, another one grows backwards, etc.

Leea | 1437 comments I'm so tired of this wind and now my head feels like it's in a vice... ugh!

I finished Against the Dark (Associates, #1) by Carolyn Crane and it was quick fun read. I really love Cranes characters, such deepth and this book is HOT. I wrote my review in a fog so i'll have to go edit it i'm sure. haha!

**Edit for stupidity**
Next up: Reading a short about Robin adn Jules with Wendy, Beginnings and Ends (Troubleshooters #16.1) by Suzanne Brockmann

message 56: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments We already read book 16, crazy lady. :)

After Beginnings and Ends we're going into Headed for Trouble (Troubleshooters #16.5) by Suzanne Brockmann .

Regina, where are you in Breaking the Rules? I know you were doing the audio and it was slow going and you wanted to read the anthology with us.

message 57: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Regina wrote: "Stacia (and her imaginary friend) wrote: "Pulled a DNF on Rules of Entanglement (Fighting for Love, #2) by Gina L. Maxwell. Everyone else seems to love the book but I found it too cheesy for my liking."

I think I was in that "vacation/beach mood" when I read the book. It probably is cheezy, but I liked the sassy heroine and the Dom male with an almost beta personality - he was pretty laid back.

I'm trying to read Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare , but I haven't read any of the other books. Do I have to read The Mortal Instruments stuff 1st? 'Cuz I'm feeling really lost in this story that's not explaining much of anything to me about this "new world" that I'm in.

Have a terrible, horrible cold/bronchitis! UGH!

message 58: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments OOOooooh, yeah. You should definitely start with TMI first, I think. I mean, there are cross over characters and everything.

You should read the first three TMI books first, and then read Clockwork Angel. Then it goes back and forth after that.

message 59: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Face palm!! I blame it on the allergies.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments What Wendy said.

Lori, I'm the rare person who didn't like it (other than another friend who also pulled a DNF). Most everyone else likes the book, so I just chalk it up to me being picky.

The Collector is making me happy. It's a lot of fun. I can see why the author is being compared to Kemmerer.

Hahahaha, don't worry. I knew what you meant. :)

message 62: by Sunny☼ (new)

Sunny☼ (sunny2) Right now I am reading Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward and Fever (Breathless, #2) by Maya Banks . Both are so good it is hard to put one down to read the other.

message 63: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments I read Real (Real, Raw & Ripped, #1) by Katy Evans . Didn't love it. So many people did. I started Thief of Shadows (Maiden Lane, #4) by Elizabeth Hoyt . Need a good historical now.

message 64: by Leea, Escape Artist (last edited Apr 15, 2013 09:21PM) (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm about to start my last Troubleshooter book. Headed for Trouble I'm so excited for these snippets but so sad it's all come to an end. These are amazing layered characters that I couldn't help but love.

message 65: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I liked headed for trouble - the shorts were cute

I have a friend who loves EVERYTHING she reads, but even she didn't care much for REAL.
Bummer, I thought it sounded good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I have the feeling that Real isn't going to work for me, even though a lot of my friends are 5 starring it.

Finished The Collector (Dante Walker, #1) by Victoria Scott and it was fun. Not a great book but still a quick, fun read with an interesting concept.

message 68: by Carina (new)

Carina I'm starting to feel that way too Amy.

message 69: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments It sounds good, but I'm not sure that it's my thing. I tend to steer clear of books that are highly popular and highly dramatic. This feels like it may fall in the Beautiful Disaster camp... it makes me nervous. (Talking about Real.)

message 70: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hey just popping in to say hey (yes I am a bad girl, lol) but I am finishing up Breaking the Rules (Troubleshooters, #16) by Suzanne Brockmann and I forgot about the Team Jacob reference! LOL -- Suzanne Brockmann totally writes for me. :)

message 71: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Haha, that was one of my favorite lines in the whole book!

message 72: by Jen (at last!) (last edited Apr 16, 2013 06:43PM) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 222 comments I can't think of anything to read before our Viking read...lol. I may read Stealing Jenny by Ellen Gable , but it seems kinda dark and I'd rather be happy and giddy this go 'round. I think I'll read The Making of a Duchess (The Sons of the Revolution, #1) by Shana Galen .

message 73: by Ladyhawk (last edited Apr 16, 2013 06:35PM) (new)

Ladyhawk Jen, Sinatra fan wrote: "I can't think of anything to read before our Viking read...lol."

No way Jen!

Lori McD, I read. Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare before reading 2 and 3 of TMI, simply because I didn't know it was a prequel to TMI. I really enjoyed it. I'm on the tail end now of book 3 City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare . Then I'll probably read Clockwork Prince Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare . Before I read bk 4 City of Fallen Angels City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare Criss crossing the two series.
I'm just weird like that.

message 74: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Ladyhawk, be careful. Some of the crossover's and secrets could be missed or you could get surprises before you're supposed to. You should read Clockwork Prince after reading City of Fallen Angels, to get back on track by publication date.... unless you don't care, in which case ignore me! :)

message 75: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Uh oh, I hadn't thought of revealing spoilers Wendy. I'll take your advise and read in that order. I just prefer to savor a series Im enjoying instead of reading through too quickly. Thanks for the heads up. Now I'm super curious about the secrets and surprises!!

message 76: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I just started Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4) by Kristen Ashley .

message 77: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 222 comments Haha, Ladyhawk, I was more being indecisive than actually not having options to read. :)

I actually read Clockwork Princess before City of Lost Souls and I think it added a special depth to the reading of CoLS that wouldn't have been there had I read them in order of publication date. That's just me, though.

Oh, which reminds me of something! I think I'll check out our young adult thread and see if there's anything I can post there about my observation.

message 78: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Interesting suggestion Jen. I'll keep that in mind too. These two series connect very uniquely. I love the dark Victorian element of the past, as well as the excitement and freedom of the present day.

Hope you find something fun to read.

message 79: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Have fun Angie and that was my favorite book :)

I'm enjoying immensely Headed for Trouble (Troubleshooters #16.5) by Suzanne Brockmann - it's like everything a fan of the series could want. Like Brockmann took all our dreams and wishes and wrote about them. I mean, it's amazing how she made a combination of short stories and sudo-interviews with my favorite characters.

Wendy, I totally forgot about us picking up Gameboard of the gods... Let me know if that's still the plan or if we need to change the date? I feel bad that I totally forgot, sorry girl!

message 80: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I just finished Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare and I really am not sure how I feel about it at the moment. Huh?

message 81: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Apr 16, 2013 09:49PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I loved the ending of that book. I thought Clare handled it perfectly without doing an easy copout like (view spoiler) that Wendy had brought up before.

Finished The Lucky Ones (Bright Young Things, #3) by Anna Godbersen the ending was crazy, but I'd expect nothing different from this author. I am so in love with the 1920's.

Starting Wicked Cravings (The Phoenix Pack, #2) by Suzanne Wright tonight and Mind Fuck (The Administration, #1) by Manna Francis tomorrow for some buddy reads.

message 82: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Game (Jasper Dent, #2) by Barry Lyga is out and I cannot wait to read it. I loved I Hunt Killers (Jasper Dent, #1) by Barry Lyga and I hope this lives up to the first book.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Oh, we'll have to make time for Game. I've been looking forward to that. I also have Unbreakable (Unraveling, #2) by Elizabeth Norris this month that I'm extremely excited for.

This was the last ID book. Next up is the final MI, then the LA shadowhunters series.

message 89: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I am starting Wicked Cravings (The Phoenix Pack, #2) by Suzanne Wright for a group read. And let's face it, even if I wasn't doing a group read I would be all over this one...Dante is one of my favorites.

The fact that this was the last if the ID books makes me sad. I can never get enough of Will. I was also curious to see his sister, Cecily grow as a Shadowhunter.

That the heck is the LA Shadowhunter series?

Don't worry, Marcella. I had the same reaction, but mine was more b/c of the epilogue. I was fine with how the book ended. It made sense to me. I feel like the epilogue was written for the sole purpose(view spoiler) That's just me, though. :)
