What are you reading?

typically main character between 18-24 - so graduated high school/in college - I think is supposed to be a distinguishing feature

Basically, it's young adults out of high school and in those first few years of life where they're either working or living on their own for the first time, or attending college.
So the reading level falls in between Young Adult and Adult. With the contemporary romance (which I wouldn't recommend much of because so many of them read the same), it often has added steam. Some NA has about the same amount of steam as an adult book.

Yep.

I am reading

I still question that one. LOL.

I'm so weird on this but it's one of those random things that makes me take a second look.
Technically, NA would be an age classification, not a genre.
A genre is something like sci-fi, paranormal, contemporary, etc. - the actual term for the type of world you're reading about.
An age classification refers to reading level. Think adult books, for example. No one calls adult books a genre because it just encompasses mainstream reading, but it is an age classification overall. i.e. - childrens, middle grade (jr. high), young adult, new adult, adult.

I am reading

I read about a quarter of it and the story was just not grabbing me. The world was confusing and I didn't feel the connection between the leads. Does it pick up?

Makes sense Stacia. The way you describe it, there are an astronomical amount of books in this classification.

LOL...so true.

LOL! Well I'm on my eleventh one in a row. I think I've been reading her for like three weeks.

So, I love my new Nook HD but I started reading on the kindle touch my mom gave me. For you kindle owners, is the reading speed time really accurate? I see now what Lori was saying about trying to race against the time. LOL I don't think it bothers me though b/c I like to know that I can finish a particular book in X amount of time if I had no interruptions.

Yeah, I'm weird. If I leave the reading speed, it does seem to be accurate for me. Of course, if you page around or go in and out of a book, then it insists on recalculating it again.
I'm liking Dream Of Me too, although I'm not all that far into it. You've been asking some really great questions so far - got me thinking!

I couldn't get into the world at all, and while I liked the male lead more than the female neither one hooked me.
I will be trying to finish it though because I got to almost 50% and have heard since then that the second half is better than the first.

I'm just curious about it, not knowing much. Regina, you brought up Fever - Mac is 22? So is that NA? In the end, is it a ridiculous classification - a marketing ploy? Stories being either YA or (upwards) adult?
I'm fascinated by it - potentially because it does seem to be smoke and mirrors. Anyhow, thanks again for all your thoughts.

It's definitely for marketing. But I do like that age range. Marketers are getting very good at figuring out what people want.

That looks really good and original.

Not sure what to read. I'm thinking of starting

I'm reading [bookcover:City Of Ashes} now. It feels very different than the 1st book.

Hallowed Ones is REALLY good. You can't go wrong with Amish plus vampires.
Regina, I'm excited for the next book too. I'm going to be reading another Amish book in a few days because I love reading about Amish culture.
Finished

Starting

Yes, I wanted to see a Dex & Perry video on the authors GR page and they kept disappearing once I clicked on them.

I am feeling overwhelmed by books these days. I seems like the days get shorter and the books I want to read keep getting longer.
Stacia, when are you going to read

Did you read 2.5 yet?
Dark Light may be a bust. I'm only having fun reading it because a few of my friends are reading it together and cracking on it. That's so sad.
Probably going to start

It is hard to take a break from her books. Her men are too hot to leave for too long. Ha ha!
