Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Okay but you must promise me you got back to Moon Called! Promise? :D

The suburb that the novella starts out at (Oak Park) is where I live. :)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Of course I will go back and read it! I'm on a huge PN/UF kick right now. Plus, all your recs have panned out so far! LOL

Oh, that's cool. It must have been easy to picture! Unless she was inaccuate...

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina wrote: "Angie, for Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega, the series intersect and you should start with Mercy -- do you know the time line?"

I heard a rumor that Mercy Thompson is finally being released as audio from the beginning early next year. I'm thinking I might jump on that...I've read some of Alpha and Omega and bits of Mercy Thompson but have been a bit spotty on it.

I picked up the Patricia Briggs shorts / novella compilation which includes Alpha and Omega. Some good, some bad but overall not worth the money. If I hadn't already listened to Alpha and Omega which was the shining light UI might have said it was worth it, but taking that one out of the equation tips the scales in the other direction.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I think I might read the Mercys via audio. There's so many of them!

message 6906: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Drives me insane!!!

Night Broken is available from audible.com ....all the rest aren't.

Mur Lafferty's book Shambling Guide to NY is available as audio. Book 2 Ghost Train to New Orleans is not.

I can go on for a long time about this.

What really bugs me most is I can generally order the books as CDs shipped from the U.S. (costs a fortune in postage) but I can't get them as digital files.

message 6907: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments it drives me nuts too - even in the US, I find random books I can only get abridged, but I can get unabridged on CD elsewhere

Briggs is one of my absolute favorites. I prefer her over Ilona Andrews.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments All the audios of Mercy are really really good. I have read them all and listened to them all and then listened again.

That's quite interesting. I can't get it as an audiobook but I can get it as an iPhone or iPad app which includes the audiobook.

Might have to have a look at that.

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Crazy Hot (Steele Street, #1) by Tara Janzen which was an average read.

Going to start House Immortal (House Immortal, #1) by Devon Monk .

message 6926: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments House Immortal looks interesting. Keep us posted.

I just finished, Key the Steampunk Vampire and the Dungeon of Despair. Very much a book for early readers / children picking up their first chapter books. Was pretty good.

Key the Steampunk Vampire Girl and the Dungeon of Despair by Becket

Am currently reading Coming Home For Christmas by Jenny Hale. Pretty good, though more women's fic than romance. Love Me Sweet by Tracy Brogan who, along with Terri Osburn is keeping CR from becoming irrelevant for me atm. And Summoning the Night by Jenn Bennett.

Coming Home for Christmas by Jenny Hale Love Me Sweet (Bell Harbor, #3) by Tracy Brogan Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2) by Jenn Bennett

I've just loaded up onto my Kindle and iPhone, Circle of Influence, by Annette Dashofy Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs and Key the Steampunk Vampire Girl and the Tower Tomb of Time by Becket

message 6935: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Happy New Year everyone! I've had quite a lot of time to read as I just graduated from nursing school and enjoying the holidays!

Finished House Immortal (House Immortal, #1) by Devon Monk which had a very unique and interesting premise. The world building could've been better as well as character development.

Going to start Meant to Be (Anchor Island, #1) by Terri Osburn .

message 6936: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Meant to Be is awesome! There is a triangle....I hate triangles....and I'm still saying it's awesome!

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter - thought it was a gorgeous read

message 6938: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I have a few novellas which I'll be getting through over the next week.

His Prairie Princess is great so far (@20%). Out of the Storm is up next. It's Christian Romance. My friend Ninja Vicki pointed out a review which is a hoot. A plainly very conservative christian was lamenting how filthy it was that the H and h kissed. Anyway, just because of that review I decided I wanted in when Anna and Vicki buddy read it.

His Prairie Princess (Prairie Brides #1) by Kit Morgan Out of the Storm (Beacons of Hope, #0.5) by Jody Hedlund

I'm also about to start Atlanta Burns...not really sure what they book is, what it's about or where it sits as far as genre goes, but I like the cover. I'm also reading a mystery called Circle of Influence....the title makes you think thriller but the book is definitely cozy in a Desperate Housewives sort of way.

Atlanta Burns (Atlanta Burns #1-2) by Chuck Wendig Circle of Influence (Zoe Chambers Mysteries, #1) by Annette Dashofy

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Happy new year, everyone! 6 days into the new year and I haven't picked any book up! :( I'm still in a reading funk and nothing sounds good to me.

Courtney, congrats on finishing nursing school! What an accomplishment!

message 6943: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Kay - I hope your reading funk doesn't last too long! And thank you, but it isn't over yet! Gotta pass my NCLEX and actually get a job!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I haven't read anything yet, either. Soon, hopefully.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) I haven't been present in this group for awhile. Less reading and less socializing. Will try to get back into the swing of things.

Anyway, just finished an 'inspirational' novella Out of the Storm (Beacons of Hope, #0.5) by Jody Hedlund as part of a group challenge. It didn't preach, but the heroine was almost painfully innocent. At least, she wasn't prudish. Also read Patricia Briggs' short "Seeing Eye," which featured a white witch. Nice!

Next up... The Hollow Kingdom (The Hollow Kingdom Trilogy, #1) by Clare B. Dunkle , a YA fantasy GR friends loved, the historical romance Catch a Falling Heiress (An American Heiress in London, #3) by Laura Lee Guhrke due for-review soon, and finish a few short stories in Shifting Shadows Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs .
