Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Angie, how are you liking Silver? Christal and I really enjoyed it.

Do you mean 2 seconds -- written by the author?

message 6752: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Got Dark Prayer by Natasha Mostert off NG and really enjoyed it. This is the second book of hers I've read that deals with memory and she takes very interesting ways into her exploration of it.

I like it so far. It's interesting being in the head of a heroine who appears to be insane.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Love Me to Death (Underveil, #1) by Marissa Clarke ended up being a DNF for me. I didn't care for the characters, and the whole 'I need him now' thing while the main female character's life was in danger just wasn't working for me. It seems I'm in the minority, as the book has gotten really good reviews.

I'm picking Silver (Silver, #1) by Rhiannon Held back up today, because my buddy reader will be joining in, and I also started Reap & Repent (The Reapers #1) by Lisa Medley .

message 6755: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I read a horrible m/m that I can't remember the name of. It was long. And I found myself skimming sex scenes desperate to get back to plot. Which is generally not a good sign for me. Seriously, I've given up trying to find m/m books on my own. The ones that you all have vetted are great. I should know better and just stick with your recs.

message 6756: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Have you read PsyCop, Tellulah? I haven't read many m/m but like to read more too.

message 6757: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments I'm listening to A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness

message 6758: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished The Invitation Prequel (The Invitation, #1) by Roxy Sloane which was alright, really short, but I should've expected that from the page numbers and it being a prequel.

I also started Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye .

message 6759: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I finished The Understatement of the Year (The Ivy Years, #3) by Sarina Bowen . Really good! I was up till 2am reading it, hahaha.

So glad you enjoyed it, Wendy. It was really lovely, wasn't it.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I couldn't put it down. Really very good.

message 6764: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I just started More to Give by Terri Osburn. I'm already feeling the love. She really owns CR at the moment.

I'm about to start a novella recommended to me by Ninja Vicki. All I Want for Christmas is You by Jessica Scott. The fact that Vicki wrote a review, something she doesn't often do, is enough to make me want to read it.

Another rec from Vicki was Seven Days, Six Worst-Case Scenarios which I will get to shortly.

More to Give (Anchor Island, #4) by Terri Osburn All I Want for Christmas is You (Coming Home 5.5) by Jessica Scott Seven Days and Six Worst-Case Scenarios A Humorous Romantic Mystery (Victoria Douglas Vacation Mysteries Book 1) by Leslie Huggans

message 6765: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye which was pretty good for being a short novel.

Started Sweet Addiction (Sweet Addiction, #1) by Jessica Daniels and still reading No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole .

message 6766: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Ian - if u are going to read the Jessica Scott book - that character is introduced in book 2 of the series (main secondary character)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Courtney wrote: "Finished Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye which was pretty good for being a short novel.

Hearts in Darkness was a nice little gem.

Just finished The Headmaster by Tiffany Reisz I enjoyed it. The story was perfect for Halloween. It read like a contemporary romance with just a slight paranormal twist. The school setting was sort of dark and lent itself to the mood, which was nice. I didn't even mind the insta-love this time because it read like the couple was fated to be together and the story was so short that the fall had to be fast.

message 6768: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments almost done with Wrong Bed, Right Guy in audio...unfortunately, i didn't plan on my commuteb eing 1.5 hours this am (normally about 30 min) so I don't haev a new audiobook to start when I finish this one up

message 6769: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Quite enjoyed The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins from NG.

message 6770: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Dee wrote: "Ian - if u are going to read the Jessica Scott book - that character is introduced in book 2 of the series (main secondary character)"

Just noticed this. Can I read Book 2 without reading Book 1? Damn series' that confuse me.

message 6771: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments yeah pretty much - there are some spoilers from book 1 (view spoiler) - but its mostly stand-alone - I just say read book 2 because you meet the major in it - he is the lawyer for the H - more as a character awareness - i haven't read his book yet though

message 6772: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Sweet Addiction (Sweet Addiction, #1) by Jessica Daniels which was full of miscommunication in the relationship and I hate that.

Started Beyond the Far Horizon by Sally Malcolm .

message 6773: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Beyond the Far Horizon by Sally Malcolm which was meh. Didn't like it too much because of the unrealistic relationship and betrayal in the book. Also dnf'ed Friend-Zoned (Friend-Zoned, #1) by Belle Aurora . It was pretty bad. Reminded me of the Kristen Ashley book I read that I couldn't bring myself to finish either.

Going to start The Red Wolf's Prize by Regan Walker .

message 6774: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I just finished Blamed (Blood Money #1) by Edie Harris and now I've started The Heist (Fox and O'Hare #1) by Janet Evanovich .

message 6775: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Mind blown by the amazingness that is Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy, #1) by Mira Grant Though I hate the cover.

I think this is the one Wendy recommended to me. Good to see you liked it, too.

I've missed chatting with everyone - hope you're all doing well.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Leea, I think maybe you should try The Understatement of the Year (The Ivy Years, #3) by Sarina Bowen . I think you'd really like it. (So is the newest Raven Boys book, but you may want to start with something faster and lighter.)

Also, I've been waiting for you! The sequel to Too Stupid to Live is out. :)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Leea wrote: "I need book suggestions... I want to get back into reading but I have no clue what to read. I feel overwhelmed at all the choices."

Genre preference?

If you feel like CR, More to Give by Terri Osburn will be released in just over a week. She's brilliant. To be honest if it wasn't for her I'd probably take a break from CR.

I'm just about to start Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. Don't know much about it except a lot of people are raving about it.

And I read The One Plus One by Jojo Moyes about a month ago, and I'm still thinking about it. It kind of blew my mind. I just really love the main female character...dirt poor but would do just about anything for her family.

Thank you Ian, any genre. The last book I loved was Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail I wish I could find something like that to read.

The Jojo Moyes book sounds so good. Thanks!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Billionaire with Benefits (Romancelandia #2) by Anne Tenino ! The rating is a little lower, but I loved Too Stupid to Live so much that I'm willing to give it a shot!

Leea, I'm backed up for a couple books, but maybe I can squeeze it in after I finish what I'm reading? You should definitely try Understatement of the Year. It's Wendy, Kay and Tellulah approved. :)

message 6785: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Which is a pretty good trifecta of approval. *grin*

message 6787: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished The Red Wolf's Prize by Regan Walker which was very drawn out and became pretty boring.

Started The Fire Seer (Coalition Of Mages, #1) by Amy Raby .

message 6788: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Billionaire with Benefits (Romancelandia #2) by Anne Tenino was a pretty meh read for me. But read Dirty Rowdy Thing (Wild Seasons, #2) by Christina Lauren and oh my, how I love this series.

Leea, I have rarely found a book like Wild! I just re-read After Hours by Cara McKenna by listening to the audio and man, I just love this book. You like Cara McKenna, maybe try that one?

Angie, just beware that while Feed is really good, many many readers felt it picked up around 30% -- and then it was fabulous.

message 6790: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Big Little Lies is actually kind of amazing...though more women's fiction than anything else.

It's about a murder (though we're not told who) at a school trivia night. The whole book leads up to the murder following three women who are facing different struggles. A young single mother, a woman in her late 30s who is unhappy in her marriage, and a slightly older woman who is dealing with a rebellious teenage daughter.

As I'm reading I'm finding myself trying to puzzle out what is going on and where people fit into the story. There are still a few big pieces that I can't quite figure out but I'm enjoying the not knowing.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

message 6791: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I saw that book last night at barns and noble. Leaving tomorrow for a girls trip to San Diego, going to start One Plus One

message 6792: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished The Fire Seer (Coalition Of Mages, #1) by Amy Raby , which had a unique concept but the execution was slightly lackluster.

Starting Wrong Bed, Right Guy (Come Undone, #1) by Katee Robert .

message 6793: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am about 75% into Symbiont (Parasitology, #2) by Mira Grant - -anyone else reading it?

message 6794: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Nov 06, 2014 10:10AM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I probably will read Symbiont at some point over the next month but I have other scheduled reads to get to first.

Working on Magic Embrace by Jennifer Horsman and it's pretty weird. I think I'm really not an 80's bodice ripper kind of girl.

Also working on The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1) by Megan Shepherd which is a deliciously creepy retelling of The Island of Dr. Moreau. I like that the gore hasn't been left out, even if the story has been romanced up.

And I'm starting UnWholly (Unwind, #2) by Neal Shusterman for a buddy read.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Regina wrote: "I am about 75% into Symbiont (Parasitology, #2) by Mira Grant - -anyone else reading it?"

I started it Regina. Only just though, i'm only in chapter 2.

message 6796: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Wrong Bed, Right Guy (Come Undone, #1) by Katee Robert which was a decent read.

Going to start Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase .

message 6797: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Regina wrote: "I am about 75% into Symbiont (Parasitology, #2) by Mira Grant - -anyone else reading it?"

No, but I just finished Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant and my Mira Grant love continues. Is the series as good as Feed?

message 6798: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I say no, but it's good. Feed is definitely one of a kind, but the spin on 'zombies' in Parasitology series is interesting, and the character is very unique. It's still pretty good. :)

message 6799: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase which was an ok read.

Starting The Vampire Queen's Servant (Vampire Queen, #1) by Joey W. Hill .

message 6800: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading Toxic by Carol Ericson and Shattered Bonds (Wicked Play, #7) by Lynda Aicher . The second one is the last in a series, and I've only read the one directly before it, which I enjoyed. But I think this last installment would be better enjoyed if you've read the entire series. I'm having a hard time keeping track of the secondary characters.
