Courtney | 159 comments Finished Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day which was pretty good! I enjoyed it.

Going to read Bound (Bound Trilogy, #1) by Kate Sparkes .

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished The Circus of the Damned by Cornelia Grey Not bad. I really liked the whole idea of the damned circus, some very hot m/m scenes - just bumps with the voice of the main character. Thought he should have been a bit rougher. Sometimes he just seemed a bit polite and bland.

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i finished Backstrokes by Dylan Madrid - disappointed...from the cover/title/description you'd expect a swimming based book, but not really - and there was like a tragedy for tragedy sake that just didn't work

I hate books that have tragedy for tragedy sake. It's a peev of mine.

Mine, too. When I read Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas years ago, I finished that book feeling like the author just sat down and thought 'I'll write a sad book.' I didn't find it very full of emotion at all.

message 6658: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Exactly, lol. I wind up feeling like they were just attempting to manipulate me and I wind up more pissed off.

message 6659: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments it was disappointing...I need to figure out how my review will go - I was supposed to have it up on my blog last week, but I wrote the wrong date down and didn't have the book read...normally the blog tour company is a no reviews below 3 stars, but since its late...its a solid 2.5 - just trying to decide if I want to round up or down on GR

message 6660: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Does it annoy you that they put a stipulation on it like that?

message 6661: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments sometimes...i'm pretty up front if I don't feel it will get a good review and they don't hold me to writing them - I just DNF and post at a later date

I think this is a big reason why New Adult doesn't work for me. I think authors feel like the more drama, the better the story.

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments we termed NA in another group - TADS - teen angst drama sex...kinda sums it up

message 6665: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments lol, it does sum it up. I really don't like NA either. I've read a few and they just seem to be... yeah, manipulative to the point of unenjoyable... for me.

Pure adoration. How's book 2? Anyone?

message 6678: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 26, 2014 10:15AM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I'm almost done with book 2. I went into it expecting not to like the book because everyone says to read through book number 2 in order to get to the next books, which are better. Supposedly, book number 4 is the fan favorite (along with 1). Maybe because I didn't expect much out of the second book, I'm really enjoying it quite a bit. It won't be a 5 star read like the first book, but unless the end sucks, it will be a solid 4 for sure. It's cute - kind of similar in parts to the first book (the author definitely sticks to a formula) but also reminds me of the movie You've Got Mail with the rival business owners.

So I think if you go into it expecting it to not be as good as book 1, you might enjoy it, because I am.

Cool. Thanks. I will go in with lowered expectations.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) How do I love Sarah Maclean? Let me count the ways. Her latest chapter the HRs involving The Fallen Angel gaming club was the best of the series yet No Good Duke Goes Unpunished (The Rules of Scoundrels, #3) by Sarah MacLean And the ending killed me! Not sure how I'm going to wait 2 months for the final book.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I've been reading Rock Chick Renegades...
Honestly if you've read one, you've read them all. The only difference between the books is the names but they're still good fun.
Though I have a bit of a problem with something that just happened.
Jules, the heroine of the story just told Vance (the alpha hero) that she wasn't interested in sex and he pretty much forced her. I get that she loves him and that she enjoyed it...but...she said "no"!!!

errr...if she needs convincing then that's a no.

Rock Chick Renegade (Rock Chick, #4) by Kristen Ashley

Next up is One Plus One by Jojo Moyes. I'm kind of excited about this book.

The One Plus One by Jojo Moyes

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I like Jojo Moyes. I'm looking forward to what you think of the book. This is one I haven't read.

Finished The Chocolate Kiss (Amour et Chocolat #2) by Laura Florand and it was cute. I loved the quirky, slightly spooky setting and rivalry between business owners. It reminded me of the movie You've Got Mail. It wasn't nearly as magical or epic as book 1, but it was still an enjoyable read.

Finally getting a move on with my slow read of Skin Game (Skin, #1) by Ava Gray .

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I read my first Jojo Moyes a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it! Her books stick with you.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I'm very glad that Stacia had me lower my expectations for The Chocolate Kiss (Amour et Chocolat #2) by Laura Florand because it wasn't as good as book one. And had I expected it to be, I would have been severely disappointed. Instead I was enchanted. Ensorcelled if you will. On to book three.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I hope to start book 3 soon. I'm most looking forward to book 4. I was told yet again the other day that it's a favorite.

Without Words by Ellen O'Connell The One Plus One by Jojo Moyes Red Delicious Death (Orchard, #3) by Sheila Connolly

Picked up a few books from Edelweiss and Netgalley in the last week which I'll get to soon.

Dog Crazy A Novel of Love Lost and Found by Meg Donohue A Ghostly Undertaking by Tonya Kappes

And Elizabeth Hunter's publicist offered me an ARC of her latest book which I declined because it's book 2 in the series, but I offered to read book 1 instead ... Shifting Dreams.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) The Chocolate Touch (Amour et Chocolat #4) by Laura Florand I couldn't find book 3 at my library so I skipped over to book 4. It may be the fan fav but it's my least fav one so far. Books 1 and 2 were sooo much better in my opinion. I felt like everything - Paris, the chocolate, Dominique and Jaime were all really formulaic without any of the depth and delight that had informed the previous books.
