I became one of those sad sacks— I only lasted in Los Angeles for eighteen months. I limped away, feeling like a failure for the first time in my life. I let the city and the industry beat me. But now I was back. It took me ten years to make it back and this time… I wasn’t going anywhere.
“OK, you caught me. I wanted to see you. Is that so terrible? I’m bored, and you’re fascinating.”
“You will be the death of me, Sheridan. I can already tell.” He sighed, unfolding his long legs to get out of the car.
“Yes, but it will be a good death. I’ll be gentle. You won’t even know I’m coming.”
He turned back and grinned. “That’s what she said.”
Perfection.
“Oh, and Grace?” he continued, walking toward his car. He stopped when he reached it and leaned back against the door.
“I will definitely know when you’re coming. And so will you,” he said, biting down on that lower lip.
Fucking Perfection.
“I love that you’ve become so important to me,” he added, gazing at me from under heavily lidded eyes.
“I love that you are so totally wrapped up in my life now,” I answered, my heart thumping wildly… what were we saying?
”Yeah, she’s right here. She’s in the shower, in fact… Oh, Jack! I told Grace the funniest joke about the British invading her hoo—Wait, what?… Hold on… Grace, Jack would like you to know that he has seen the pictures and he thinks you were pointing that shrimp at him far too aggressively… No, she isn’t acknowledging you. She’s now banging her head against the shower tiles… Oops, now she’s glaring at me… she’s turning off the shower, Jack… she’s coming toward me… she’s naked, Jack… and angry… she’s naked and angry, Jack… you would probably love angry, naked Grace. It’s something to see. She’s hitting me, Jack… I think she’s going to take the phone away from…”
“I love you too, Gracie…Always,” he deadpanned, holding up a maxi pad.
He pushed me back up against the door, slamming me against the doorbell. I heard it ring out.
“Coming!” I heard Holly say as she clicked across the floor to the front door.
“Not quite, but she’s close.” He chuckled, removing his hand and leaving me breathless and rosy cheeked.
"Hamilton, Hell yes, although I'll need to be swept off my feet." He responded in less than a minute. "Here's to getting you off your feet, Grace..."
"Sorry, boobies," he corrected. "You can say tits, although I prefer boobies. I also like Ta-Tas," I said with a straight face. "how about love pillows?" he countered. "Breasticles?" I offered. "Uhhh, how about Flap Jacks?" he asked, struggling not to laugh. "Nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to sweater meat," I managed to get out before laughing so loud I sprayed Saltines all over the counter.
"Twenty-four year olds were my new favorite thing. I needed to tell Oprah to put them on her list."
"Randy? Hell no, we're way past that. I need to get pounded, and you're the guy that's going to do it," I said severely, pushing him towards the stairs, holding hte banana like a light saber. "Igot a hole that needs fillin', a field that needs plowin', and a stocking that is aching to be stuffed."
