Tower Team D: Dangerously Determined to Devour All Books
@Melissa - the Rock Chick series looks really interesting. Looks like another series to add to the ever-growing to be read pile.
Rebecca wrote: "@Melissa - the Rock Chick series looks really interesting. Looks like another series to add to the ever-growing to be read pile."I love it! The Rock Chick's rule. I've read her Mystery Men series as well - that series is good too but I love the rock chicks!!
We are now tied with team A with 689 books read!!!! We can do it oh yes we can!!!!!
Well, I've tossed
. I liked the first few pages, but then the author got into a lengthy description of the gross and disgusting.Any suggestions of romances with "M"s?
@Deedee, what kind of romances do you like? I have several I can recommend, but not sure what you like.Great job everyone!! Let's push past 700!!
I will post an updated list of our M books tomorrow. Not going to Mardi Gras this year, so lots more time on my hands!
Hope everyone on the East Coast is staying warm and dry. No driving = more reading time!
Leslie, I love that picture! So cozy! Right now I'm snuggled up on my couch like that reading
and watching the snow fall. It's so relaxing!

Looking good, Team D. ☺

Just finished
I love time traveling Highlander's! It's an M book and a romance (Duh!!). Now I've started
. Not sure what to expect out of this one. @Katie - glad you are snuggled up. Watching snow fall is wonderful - it's the shoveling and driving in it that I always hated.
Just finished my second M book and it's a romance too :D
byR.L. Mathewson this was really good. Hated Haley's family but her Grandma was awesome!
@Leslie I love her Highlander series! I'm going to start
I keep putting it off. I just hate how the last book ended.
Finished 2 more Romance and M books today!
My Favorite Mistake - Chelsea M Cameron &
Midsummer Magic - Catherine CoulterMy Favorite Mistake was good - gave it 4 stars. High for that type of book(for me anyway), but it sucked me right in and I couldn't put it down.
Midsummer Magic was your typical historical romance. I've read better and I've read worse.
Going to start on another M book -
Death of a Poison Pen - MC Beaton - not a romance though. I like to alternate between genres - keeps me from getting burned out on romances.
I finished
by Sarah Mayberry and
by Sarah Morgan. Mayberry's was awesome as usual. I'm really digging her Super Romance books. The H/h are so believable and normal people.Morgan's romance was a sweet one. It was HQN Presents so you have that unbelievable millionaire (or is it billionaire nowadays?) and usually set in Greece. (I guess Greek ones are in demand) But as usual Morgan doesn't write alpha-hole heroes but the heroine was too naive which I found it not so believable. Other than that, I really enjoyed the romance.
I've started
and if I can I'll try to squeeze
too.
The ending is awesome, right?! I so want the next book now but apparently, the author is going to concentrate on the Mercy Thompson series now. GAH!!!Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "Just finished
which 156 people put on the romance shelf. And can I say, Oh what an ending!"
@Melissa - Make sure you have the fifth on hand. This one also has a cliffhanger ending and you will want to start the next asap. I hate cliffhangers.Incidentally, for those who've read both her Highlanders and Fever series, if I'm not too into PNR (I can do UF fine, though), will I enjoy the Highlander? I enjoyed the fever series but I'm reluctant to start her highlander series due to this.
@Leslie -- I don't normally read romance novels -- but I've read some that I've liked. Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, some paranormal romance. Personally don't care for the soft-porn romances. I read Shameless by Karen Robards last year and really enjoyed it. (One of the advantages to being willing to toss a book is that I'll try ones out of my comfort range :0) )Oh, and Lauren Willig's series is great!
Vi wrote: "The ending is awesome, right?! I so want the next book now but apparently, the author is going to concentrate on the Mercy Thompson series now. GAH!!!"
Now as being a year or longer? I had heard before she was only writing one book a year and going back and forth between the series. So I was expecting it to be two years before the next book, but if she is only doing Mercy that is a bummer (not that I don't love Mercy).
@Vi ~ I do have
on hand for when I finish. So I'm good to go. Her Highlander series ~ not sure I would classify it as PNR. To me it is more of a romance with historical and some paranormal elements thrown in due to them being Fae if that makes sense?!? Maybe try to see if you can get book one from a friend or the library. That way if you don't like nothing is really wasted except 50-100 pgs of reading time.
Deedee wrote: "@Leslie -- I don't normally read romance novels -- but I've read some that I've liked. Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, some paranormal romance. Personally don't care for the soft-porn romances. I ..."Deedee maybe you could try
it has romance, mystery and humor all wrapped into one. It was a light fun read.
Good morning, everyone!! WOW, lots of conversation about books. What fun!@Vi - I would say definitely try the Highlander series. It is so different from her Fever series. The best one to start with is Kiss of the Highlander. Even though it's #3, you aren't missing anything. Just great sexy fun!!
@Deedee - if you like Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer (a personal favorite of mine!) and Lauren Willig - you might want to try Lisa Kleypas
Great author and great start to a series.Another author you might want to try is Ciji Ware. She has historical mysteries that are pretty good. One of them I read recently is
Another author you might enjoy is Elizabeth Lowell. She writes many different genres but does Romantic Suspense very well. Her book
is pretty good.
Great job, Team!! Keep reading!!I just finished
and despite the cheesy cover it was actually quite fun! I am now starting
which is part of a historical mystery series that I love!! Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre or would like to try it.And Deedee, I thought of an author you might want to try Susan Mallery / Susan Stephens / Olivia Gates. She writes some very good contemporary romances.
I'll have an updated list of M books up soon.
DeeDee, I agree with Melissa on
, it was one of my faves from Crusie, that and
. Both are hilarious and fun to read!

I finished Gossip Girl. Now I'm starting The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1) and finishing Tiger's Curse :)
DeeDee ~ I second Leslie's Susan Mallery recommendation.
is the first Susan Mallery book I read. I love when food and books collide!! This is the beginning of a sweet trilogy.
@Michelle - wow, what eclectic choices!!@Melissa - I've never read that one! I'm just trying to finish the Fool's Gold series.
I've finished another M book (not a romance!) -
Death of a Poison Pen by MC Beaton. It's a super fun cozy mystery series. Spoilerish if you haven't made it far into the series - (view spoiler)I might read
Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie, but I doubt I'll have it finished before the challenge deadline. If it's anything like the last Poirot book, it'll take me a couple days to finish.["br"]>["br"]>
Finished last night
. Really enjoying this series!! Got to meet new characters and learn more about Archeron and Artemis. 494 users classified as romance.Starting
@Leslie the Susan Mallery trilogy is cute and the first one is about a chef and second chances (if I remember correctly)

Oh, I love the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. She's one of my favorite authors! And I love Acheron! I need to catch up on this series since I've fallen behind.

Love the books this morning!! I unexpectedly decided to read
for another team challenge. I enjoyed it though it was a little too much like reading about my kids lives. Slightly uncomfortable.I've also just started
. Should be finished by this evening!@Melissa - I put the Susan Mallery book on my TBR (thanks!). I love books that combine food and romance as well. Looks good.
I have a love-hate relationship with Sherrilyn Kenyon. I liked her stuff and then I got real tired of it and stopped reading her. I need to go back and re-read her.
Kristin wrote: "Have you read Poison Study by Maria Snyder? I really liked it but I haven't read any other books in that series. "Yes I just read that in January and I am looking to buy the next two books in the series to continue it as I also liked Poison Study.
Maria V. Snyder is one of my favourite authors at the moment. I have already read the the Glass and Insiders series.
Leslie wrote: "I unexpectedly decided to read

Your kids might be uncomfortable knowing you just read this, too ☺
Well, my oldest is 24 (now engaged) but she will tell you (and me!) that she had the "FULL" college experience at Vanderbilt! I was definitely the mom texting her at odd times and saying " we haven't talked in so long".
Leslie wrote: "Well, my oldest is 24 (now engaged) but she will tell you (and me!) that she had the "FULL" college experience at Vanderbilt! I was definitely the mom texting her at odd times and saying " we haven..."Sometimes ignornance might just be bliss. Can hardly wait for this with my kids, lol
Katie wrote: "I just finished
for both romance and M challenges. Everyone is doing a fantastic job!"What did you think?
Hey Leslie! I wasn't sure at first if I would like Beautiful Creatures but a lot of the supporting characters really grew on me. Amma and Macon make the journey through 500 pages worth it and I've put in for the second installment at the library already.
Well, the TBR pile is just getting bigger and bigger. I've now added Touch of Power - that looks really good! @Katie - good to know! My youngest daughter loves it. But I'm always so hesitant about Young Adult books. I won't get to it before the movie comes out, but I will definitely move it up on the to-read list.
I've finished my second book for the M challenge and it's a romance, too. Sadly, I didn't like this one as much as some of her other books. It was a too confusing.
Tricia, have you read the other ones before this? I agree that this isn't as good as her other dragon books, but it does improve. The going back and forth is a little confusing, though. I agree.
