Liz I've never read any of them. Sorry. :(

message 2: by Noits (new)

Noits Loved loads of them ...

No worries, Liz. It's just so we can have awesome recommendations on our group shelves :)

Gail - I know. It's nearly impossible to pick just one. I put all the books in by hand, only to find out that you couldn't specify how many votes people get. Argh :(

message 4: by Nibha (new)

Nibha hi I really like "the color of magic and thud.

message 5: by Pam (new)

Pam I've never read any of them, either, but I have copies of the whole Discworld series, and I'm planning on reading Color after I finish the book I'm currently reading.

message 6: by Meg (new)

Meg Hmmm... I wonder if it would be "better" to do which is your least favourite. I can probably answer that one more easily. Maybe we can have an anti-recommendation shelf? :o)

message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma So, I voted for "soul music" but I also love "the color of magic" and "feet of clay." Just sayin'...

message 8: by Emma (new)

Emma Meg wrote: "Hmmm... I wonder if it would be "better" to do which is your least favourite. I can probably answer that one more easily. Maybe we can have an anti-recommendation shelf? :o)"

I concur!

message 9: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Pennington Why do I have to pick just ONE?! Arrrrgh!

message 10: by Paul (new)

Paul Guzman I've also never read any of them. I've heard several times how good they are, but I never seem to find time for them; too much other stuff to read.

message 11: by Derek (new)

Derek They went downhill after the first...

message 12: by Riona (new)

Riona so hard! why the hidden results?

message 13: by Fiona (new)

Fiona Never read any - Sorry

message 14: by Steven (new)

Steven Harbin Yes, I hate having to pick only one as well.

message 15: by Travis (new)

Travis So hard to pick just one, and to remember which ones I've actually read.

Maybe I just need to read them ALL again!

That's quite an awesome idea, Meg.

I'm not sure we really want to be hating on Pratchett, in particular but I'm sure there are things we could anti-recommend.....

Because I know when I see the way the votes are going, I always use my vote to bump up one of the underdogs! And since you can change your vote on here, I thought it might get a bit.....*wait!*......CHAOTIC.

What was I thinking? Of course we should go with chaotic. Clearly I spent too long as a bureaucrat. I'll go change the settings. This could be infinitely more entertaining...

I know. I would have liked to have been able to do a top 3. I had to go through and read all the synopses and try to remember which ones I actually read. It has been a very long time! That kind of worked out for the best, as I realised there's only one that I still have vivid recollections of. It's "Reaper Man" for the record. Oh, Binky. I still think that's genius.

Hehehe. One of our local burger chains has a community chest vote every month. With your burger you get a bottle top to put in one of three jars with the name of a local charity on it. The winner gets a cash donation. I can never bring myself to put it in the one that's already winning!

message 27: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Hard to pick just one. I loved the first two best, but then I just read "Guards, Guards" and could NOT stop laughing. I think my husband got sick of me reading sections out loud to him.

Oh, I get into trouble for doing that too. My boyfriend will now never read John Dies at the End because of me!

That post sounds almost like it's in a phonetic Scottish accent. "Ah need ti rread tha!" At least that's the way I'm choosing to pronounce it :)

message 33: by Riona (new)

Riona I haven't read a discworld book in months, I don't think. It may be time to return!

message 34: by Mosca (last edited May 31, 2012 02:35PM) (new)

Mosca I've never read any of the "Diskworld" books But I keep trying without success. (Strange brain inside my head).

But what a great idea for a poll and comment chatter.
This will help those like me looking for a doorway in.

Just a reminder, voting closes midnight Monday night my time - so very early Monday morning for some people. I'd suggest voting by midnight Sunday night wherever you live. That way you'll definitely make the cut-off :)

In the meanwhilst, I just realised there's a Pratchett book called The Unadulterated Cat. Why have I not seen this before? And why do I not own it?

And why have I never read this one? That's unacceptable.

Totes unacceptable. Somebody must pay.

Nataliya Hehe. I will. For that book. Out of my quite slim bank account.

So I forgot to make the big announcement! The Poll is closed and we have a clear set of winners. Thanks to everyone who voted!

I'll be adding the top few to the Humour Bookshelf, and we can use this for reference for any of the other shelves he's nominated for. Thanks again :)
