Can I skip a detour? I don't know if I'll be able to do the detour #4, maybe I can do a task?"Circe,
I think at least 4 of us are committed to doing the detour. The rules do not permit the team to do a combination of detour and tasks at the same stop. Don't worry if you can't do the detour. You can just sit out this stop and maybe start reading one of your future books.

I have added my books to the SS.
Stop #4-Detour "the sun" in text on page 11
In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to FreedomStop #5-Detour Character's LN Pepper
The Curious Charms of Arthur PepperStop #6-Spellout of Christchurch- I added two books: 1. Letter I-Character FN, iola
The Prayer Box 2. Letter H-Title of book
Halsey StreetI am flexible, if we need to change any of these.

Sorry I confused some by what I said and thanks for reposting the rules, Karolyn. I was just trying to see if we had the interest for ALL to read for the detours since that gets us the most points. If not, then I was asking if at least 4 wanted to read for the detour to get the 25 points. Yes, if we select that option, then no one else would read for that stop; just the detour readers. Since this team wants to read for each stop, we will get more points to NOT do a detour with just 4 reading. I’ve been on teams before where people don’t want to read for each stop, in which case 4 people reading for the detour works well. It’s wonderful that we all want to read!

Looks like our detour reading is starting to fall into place. Way to go, girls!
I decided to start reading my big book The Dome and you are right, Circe, it is so good! In fact I think it’s going to be hard to put it down to read my other books from time to time. Very relieved that it’s a good read!

I will volunteer to read for 4,5, and 8. I can do others if needed.

Thanks for posting those, Karolyn. The most detours we can read for is 5, so we only need to choose 4 of those. It sounds like some have already started their long book for stop 8 and I like the idea of accomplishing reading a long book, so let’s keep that detour. How about we all volunteer for detours we’d like to do and then we can see if we have enough volunteers to complete them. Sound ok?

Sounds good, Jess!

The app is so bad! I’m driving to my aunts funeral right now, so I’ll be limited to the app for the next few days too. Sarah when I get back I’ll post the detours (if no one gets to it before me) so all can see. I know the one for stop 4 is to find the words “the sun” in the title or text. I’ve already found it in the text of a book, so I’m set to go for that one. If you don’t know how to search online for a phrase or word in a book, just let us know and we can give you an explanation and the site.

Team,
I suggest at least 4 of us read for the detours for the next stops in order to gain the most points, but it needs to be a team decision. I will be one of the 4 if we can get 3 more to commit. We get the most points if all of us read for the detours, but I don't think this is the type of challenge where people should be reading something they'd rather not read. :)

Jess, I just ordered Pygmalion for 60 cents to read on my iPad. I love the musical "My Fair Lady", so looking forward to a fast, fun read!

Has anyone read any of David Sedaris' books before? I heard so many good things, so chose
Me Talk Pretty One Day and I do not like it at all. I'm almost halfway through and just not getting his humor. I'm going to finish it, but I've sure read funnier books. *sigh*

OMGosh! I just picked up my most pages book on my TBR shelf, The Dome, and it is huge!! A real doorstopper! I'm so intimidated just looking at it. If I fall asleep reading it at night and it falls on my face, it's going to do serious damage! lol I'm already figuring I'll have to check it out of the library a few times to get through it. I have a hard time reading those big books as I'm always thinking about all the other books I could be reading. I usually have a few books I read simultaneously, so I'll need to have some fast reads to pair with this big boy!

Karolyn, I read P&P for the second time about 30 years ago. I recall having similar feelings to yours.
I recently listened to the audio book
Eligible, which is a modern parody of Pride and Prejudice. It was entertaining and made me consider another reading of P&P. I'm going to bite the bullet and do it.
Anna wrote: "Nancy, although I've not read it, I do consider it a classic too. But it is on the list. It is number 147."Yay! So I read a few reviews and people are loving this book! It's a satirical novel and it's FREE on Amazon through Kindle. I went ahead and downloaded it to my iPad for future reading. Seems like you've picked a winner, Anna!

No problem. :)
Jessi wrote: "I'm going to read
for stop 3"Jessi, I added this book to the SS for you.
Anna wrote: "For stop 3 I will be reading Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen."Anna,
I added this book to the SS for stop #3. Is it on the "Best Humorous Books" Listopia List? I didn't see it listed as humorous, but I didn't look through the entire list. I think of it as a classic.
Circe wrote: "So it is decided we are doing the detour #3 and #8 then?
I'll read
or
. It surprises me that on the list there isn't ..."Circe, I really liked
Where'd You Go, Bernadette. I also read the sequel. Hope you like Bernadette's quirky nature!

Yes, Carrie, that is correct. In this challenge there is no minimum page requirement. Great price!
