35559 Yes, that's correct, Jessi. We can read books for any stop at any time.
Anna checked in fairly recently, but if we don't hear back from her within the next few days maybe one of us should message her. Things happen in RL that of course take precedent, but we can just see how she's progressing.

Yes, that is correct.

Yes. Karolyn is correct. Everyone on the team must read a book to get the maximum points.

Yay! So glad you liked it! You might want to stream or rent the movie sometime. I usually don't like movies as well as the book, but this was an exception.

35559 You're welcome, Carrie. I also just added your book for our next stop to the SS.

35559 I've changed my mind on my book for this next stop. Upon Jessi's recommendation, I'm going to read The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. The synopsis reminds me a bit of two other books that I found charming...A Man Called Ove and The Story of Arthur Truluv. I've added it to the SS.

35559 Thanks, Jessi. I'll take hurricanes over tornadoes any day! At least we have plenty of notice. I grew up in Ohio and we had some deadly tornadoes.

35559 Carrie,
I put in your finished reading date for you on the SS.
Thanks for your kind words. I hope your family fares well. The Carolinas are probably going to get hit harder than us.

35559 I picked up The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper tonight. Yay! I've got a request in for A Monster Calls. My library had the DVD, so I picked it up. I usually don't like to watch the movie first, but this may be an exception, if we don't lose power. I'm in Virginia and hurricane Florence is supposed to be hitting us on Friday. If I don't check in for awhile, it means we've lost our internet and/or power, but no worry...I'll be reading a ton!

35559 Anna,
I'm adding A Monster Calls to my TBR shelf. Looking forward to reading it.

Jessi,
I'm waiting for The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper to come into my library. I had already requested it. Good to hear it's a good one!

35559 I finished my A book and put the finish date on the SS. I picked up Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave, who is British, so I'll start reading that soon for our next stop. He wrote Little Bee also that I adored, so if anyone is looking for a British written novel, you might want to take a look at that.

Karolyn, how are you liking The Zookeeper's Wife?
Sep 10, 2018 02:06PM

35559 My stack from the library don't include any British authors at the moment, but I'm sure I can find some if that's the way most want to go.

Still working on my A book. Might finish by tonight.

35559 Here's the answer to that question, Anna, copied from the rules:

" Books count that are started after your team thread is created. Provided the book is started during your challenge period, it can be used at any point during your challenge for a task or detour."

I created a shelf especially for this challenge (ATW) and I'm placing books I'm reading now that don't work for this particular stop. That way I'll remember them and if they fit I'll use them at a future stop.

35559 If anyone on the team likes historical fiction, I recommend The Zookeeper's Wife for our letter Z. It takes place during WWII. The book was really good and I enjoyed the movie equally well.

35559 Good reminder, Sarah!
I will read for another A. I am reading Good Hope Road. There is a Dr. Albright in the book.
Sep 08, 2018 11:40AM

35559 Yay, Jessi! Glad you found a "U" book.
I looked through my books at home and my TBR list, but can't find a "Z" book. Anyone else have one?

I finished my "L" book and I'll add it to the spreadsheet now and see if I can read something for another letter.
Sep 07, 2018 10:15AM

35559 Carrie,
We still have 5 letters that haven't been claimed, so I doubt that we will be ready to move on the 8th. I'm not signing up for another letter yet because I may not finish by the 8th either unless I get more time to read than I'm imagining. It's all good.

Happy reading all!

Thanks, Sarah. Will do!

35559 Thanks, Jess. Does anyone know how I get a mod to add me to the roster? I was told to join your group on the discussion thread.

35559 Sarah wrote: "I won’t be able to read both books by the 8th. Sorry. Hopefully not too long after that though."

Sarah, we do not have to be done by the 8th. That's just the earliest we can possibly move on to our next stop. We can decide as a team how fast we want to pace ourselves. No extra points are given for finishing the trip in the minimum time.
