Leaving tomorrow morning for the beach with girlfriends. Most of us are teachers or retired teachers and we've had the tradition of going the week before teacher week for the last 12 years. We fill every room to overflowing and consume lots of wine! I'll be on the app, so hope to be able to see what I need.
Keep up the great reading teamies!

Laura, the first thing I thought when I saw your puppy was, "Oh that's a stuffed dog!" Exactly what Margaret said! Looks as if she likes her crate. That will be very helpful when you go back to work and she needs to be contained from eating more of your items. Ha! I came home from work one day and my kids (who were in MS and HS at the time said, "Hi, Mom. Chelsea ate the couch." Sure enough she had! It had feather down in the cushions and we were pretty certain that her tennis ball got stuck in between and once she got a whiff of that goose down, the rest was history. She literally tore all the fabric and ate a ton of the feathers on a full-sized couch. Evidence appeared later, if you know what I mean. I didn't know who I was angrier with, the pup for destroying the couch or the kids for not even bothering to clean any of it up! We laugh now at the memory, but I wasn't laughing at the time. I remember I said something like, "I'm taking a walk and when I come back if you want to still have your dog this will be cleaned up." She lived another 15 years and redeemed herself many times over! :)

Wonderful news! I thought we had to wait until Saturday. I'll start reading!

Team, It might help in BINGO for you to know what the mods say about the picture squares.
"as long as you can give us a connection between the picture and your book, it works."We can help each other out with making those connections. This part is going to be fun using our brains!

So exciting that we claimed all our squares so fast! We are going to kill BINGO, team!!

Laura,
I can take the square:
Book Published in 2013My book
The Narrow Road to the Deep North was published in September 2013. I'll wait to start it until Saturday. Would that be ok?

Our first card is generated. Tree pattern seems to be the consensus for our first pattern. I 'll update the pattern this evening unless Amanda or Nanci beat me to it!"I guess either you or Amanda beat me to updating the pattern. Yay! Now we can start claiming squares!

So exciting to get our first Bingo card! I love that it has a shark, but not the bingoshark...or maybe it is! Who knows what will be uncovered for sure until we've read for that square.

for this boast. She gave it 5 stars!

I just looked. Note that some require more books to be read than others. I like the tree pattern where we get to increase our x2 power squares to x3 power squares. Of course knocking out the whole board would be awesome to give us 100 bonus points too. I'm just thinking since we get extra power squares I wonder if we would be better off to choose boards with less books to read and keep getting more power squares possibilities. What do you strategizers on the team think?

Does anyone else find it ironic that our word is BINGO? Ha!

I doubt I'll be able to finish another book between now and Friday (5pm my time), as I have a pretty full calendar.

Hey,
Was it on here that someone read
? I learned about it from one of my threads, but can't recall which one. Anyway, I got it from the library today. I'm going to hold off reading it until I see if it works for Bingo. Great cover for Bingo, I'm thinking!

Cover has lots of colors, but orange sunset should work for orange.
Works for letters "s" "t" or "a" in word STAFF by using a few of the character's names.
Characters: James Burton, Jamie Pyke, Pan, Skinner, Caroline, Henry, Robert, Delia, Lavinia, Ed, Marshall, Addy, Patricia, Belle, Sukey, Bill Thomas, Hester, Peggy, Willie, Rankin, Joe, Meg, Elly
Colors in text:
green-"...with vines of green and violet..."
red-"...cupping my ear with my hand, for I guessed it was red."
orange-"Their forehead and upper cheeks are orange..."
black- "Robert studied my long black pants."

I just finished
. I think it would work for orange since the background for the sunset is orange. I'll post it on the Read thread now.
