I don't understand why you haven't been assigned to a team yet. The teams are all up (to my knowledge) and players are already chatting and strategizing. Maybe you should contact them again. What do the rest of you who are signed up for Wheel-a-thon think?
Wow, Vicky, you are such a math girl! I love it! Way to go analyzing the points. I am stoked that my one book at 509 pages just bumps me up into the 60 point category.
I actually have lucked out on all the books I have planned to read for the first week, although I sure didn't plan it that way. They all are on the low end of the page spread. :)))
Anna, congratulations on finishing your book! I'm so glad we were all able to read for stop 3. We went to St Petersburg, Russia a few years ago as part of our trip to the Baltic area. It's a beautiful city and the buildings are magnificent, but it just had such a sad vibe for us. Thinking about the history of Russia and the oppression of the people just gave it a tragic feeling. Even in modern times, you can feel how different it is there compared to the other countries surrounding it. There is so much utter poverty in the areas outside the city and most of the Russians we saw looked downtrodden and very sad. It really pulled at my heart.
Karolyn wrote: "Y'all - Do we want to give Anna a few more days on stop 3, or do you think we should move forward?"I also think we should give her a few more days. Let's see how she's doing after Monday. We get more points if everyone reads each stop and meanwhile the rest of us can keep on reading ahead for other stops.
Jess wrote: "I totally forgot about stop 6! Luckily I have a book that I've checked out of the library which starts with a U so I can use that."Oh good. Glad the "U" works for u! lol
Sarah wrote: "Alright I have a technical question: unfortunately I’m not enjoying Jonathan Strange. It’s still early going but I find the writing style pretty tedious. Would it be against the rules to drop it fr..."That's definitely ok! Life is too short to read books that aren't enjoyable. A friend recommended that book to me also. It's the next "big one" on my TBR shelf, but I won't read it if it doesn't appeal to me. She did say it's "very different".
Karolyn wrote: "Nanci wrote: "Karolyn, that's great that you're making progress on War and Peace. Someday I need to read it. Those big books are intimidating. I am loving my big book, The Dome. I'm about 500 pages..."No. Wobble doesn't start until the 27th. I'm just planning out books that I will be reading with my team.
Karolyn, that's great that you're making progress on War and Peace. Someday I need to read it. Those big books are intimidating. I am loving my big book, The Dome. I'm about 500 pages into it, so almost at the halfway mark. I would love to just read it nonstop, but I keep having to stop to read other books.Speaking of other books, I added Cloud Atlas to our spell it out stop, since I know I'll be reading it for the Wobble challenge. It looks like everyone is signed up for a letter except for Jess and there's just letter "U" left. Jess, if that letter doesn't work for you I can switch a letter with you. We won't be at that stop for awhile, so no hurry.
I went to the BOM thread for Crazy Rich Asians and volunteered to write a DQ for our team. Here is my link text

I'm on team Barrel from the Wobble challenge and I will be happy to write one of the DQ. I read this book in September of 2017 and look forward to rereading it. It will be a good one for discussion!
Ooh, I read Crazy Rich Asians September of 2017 and would be happy to reread it and write a DQ for it! That would be easy for me! I read it quickly the first time, so the second go around should be fast.Glad to hear plurals work. Looks like we don't need the book I found anymore with the title Cobwebs for the bonus points, but if you think we do, let me know and I'll get it from the library and see if I can squeeze it in.
Vicky,Did the mods respond to you yet about my question. Does the plural form work ie "cobwebs" instead of "cobweb"?
Jess wrote: "Is the airport lounge still being moderated? I didn't get a response to my question and the last comments on it before mine were from a year ago."Oh wow. That doesn't sound good. Karolyn, what do you think? Should we ask the mod?
Also, you can put me down for letter "E" with Even Dead Men Play Chess. It has 224 pages. I think that's all I should commit to right now since my Cloud Atlas is 509 pages.
Oops! I see the tracking SS is "view only". Please go ahead and enter the above for me. It has 509 pages.
I also found "cobwebs" in the text of one of my books, but again it's the plural form. I'm guessing the mods are going to say no. Let me know what the mods say.
I found a book at my library Cobwebs. Is it ok that it's in the plural form or does it need to be an exact match?
