Anna, if you're looking for a good, quick read for our Darwin stop and you like a murder mystery, I would recommend the one I just finished, Even Dead Men Play Chess.
Completion postBook: Even Dead Men Play Chess
Author: Michael Weitz
Pages: 228
Date: 10/28/18
How it fits:
Letter E: Title
Letter W: Author's LN
Hi Jill,I copied this from the rules:
DETOURS
◈ Completing a detour earns the team 25 points AND
◈ If at least 7 members of the team read a book for the detour, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points
So by these rules it looks as if a minimum of 7 members must read for the detour. To earn the maximum points for the detour ALL team members must read.
Completion PostBook: The Weird Sisters
Author: Eleanor Brown
Pages: 320
Date: 10/27/18
How it fits: Letter W (title) or letter E (Eleanor-AFN) or letter C (Cordelia-character)
I just finished my book for this stop. It was a reread, so it read fast. I'll add it to the SS and then Karolyn can get us on to our next stop. Thanks for your patience all!
Yay! 5:08 here and I just finished my big book of 1,074 pages Under the Dome, for another challenge! Perfect timing! Now I'm starting The Weird Sisters, that I forgot I need to read real quick for another challenge.
Vicky, please put that down for the W for the title in the 3rd spell it out. It could also work for letter E for the author's first name or letter C for the character Cordeliah. Thanks!

Phew!! I did it! I finished my longest book on my TBR, Under the Dome by Stephen King. I can't recall the last time I read a book that long. It was so good! Never did it get boring and the ending was very satisfactory. I was so intimidated when I saw it, but reading it slow and steady made it very doable. :)
Today is the start for me! I'm on NY time, so come 5pm here I am cracking open my book! Happy reading team!
Team,I see everyone is done reading for this stop except for me and that we can move on today. I've been saving my book, The Weird Sisters, for Wheel-a-thon, which starts tomorrow. If you can all hang in our stop until Sunday, I should have it done by then. It's a reread for me, so I think I'll be able to read it in 2-3 hours. I have kind of overbooked myself for the first week of Wheel-a-thon, so I'm going to try to be very disciplined to get my commitments read on time.
I don't read series, but I'm with Sarah on Pillars of the Earth. Loved that book! I did read the others in that series (even though I know I just said I don't read series), but the others were not nearly as good.I also have too many favorite books, but my favorite book as a child was definitely The Secret Garden.
I'm hoping to finish my doorstopper in the next few days. I really need to get it done before Wheel-a-thon gets under way. I'm down to the last 200 pages. It's soooo good!
Haha! No worries, Tammie. It's good that we look out for one another. I've been on teams in the past where a minor slip up caused us to lose a bunch of points, so I appreciate your concern.I was waitlisted really long at the library, so I actually bought the book. Hoping one of us gets picked to write the DQ. I can start rereading it as soon as the challenge starts and write the questions for the first few chapters, if I'm selected, so it could count towards "Cobweb", as it is on the SS.
Are you maybe referring to this one, Tammie?Oct 11, 2018 05:10AM
Ooh, I read Crazy Rich Asians September of 2017 and would be happy to reread it and write a DQ for it! That would be easy for me! I read it quickly the first time, so the second go around should be fast.
Hey Tammie,Can you please post the link where it says I read Crazy Rich Asians 2 months ago? I saw the movie about 2 months ago when it came out, but I read the book Sept 8, 2017, so over a year ago. I'm just curious where the post is.
Laura wrote: "I think standard NBRC rules say 6 months between readings for re-reads."I agree with Laura. That's the standard.
Tammie wrote: "I'll make a suggestion that may give us some flexibiity should we need it. As we are reading...we may come across other options for the letter we've claimed. What do the rest of you think?
