All these years, I've been referring to pines and firs interchangeably. I had no idea they were two different trees and I even lived in Colorado. Ha! Here's a definition I found online:Fir tree needles are short and they are always less than 2 inches long. This is a very easy way to tell the difference between pine trees and fir trees. Both pines and firs grow tall and upright. At the lower branches, firs are much wider. The bark on a fir tree is smooth and cork-like and it is often hidden by the branches and needles.
I think the first book would definitely work, since those trees are not wide at the base. Hopefully the second book too. It's hard to tell since we can't see all the details. Fingers crossed!
I will read the BOM starting Dec 4th. There's only one person ahead of me at the library. Tammie I offered to be your back-up writer for DQs if needed.

Vicky,Please remove from the SS "Everyone Brave is Forgiven". I'll save that for next week, since we'll be needing lots of E's. In it's place I'll read I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World.
Thanks so much!

Hi team!I've arrived home from our x-country drive. Sorry, I didn't get to read as much as I hoped. It turns out it's hard to read while driving. LOL! I did listen to a book, so I'll post that and then hopefully I'll be able to still complete my planned books for this week.

So glad to know that MAIZE is our new word before I leave town tomorrow. I just came home from the library with a stack of books and was wondering which ones I should take with me for next week.BTW-I will be reading, but may not be able to check in often since I don't know when/where we'll have internet. Most of our days will consist of at least 12 hours of driving, so I may be too tuckered out at the end of the day to mess with internet much.
For MAIZE I will read:
The Next Person You Meet in Heaven for letters: M (author's FN), A (author's LN) E (Eddie)
I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death for letters: M (author's FN) E (Eric)
Sometimes I Lie for letters: M (Madeline) A (author's FN)
Everyone Brave is Forgiven for letters: M (Mary) A (Alistair) Z (Zachary)

I loved the movie about Temple Grandin! I read a different book concerning her life. I might add this one to my TBR, as I like non-fiction and cows! Ha!

Hmmm...I don't know how all that works or how they're getting 672 pages, but thanks so much for adding it. :)
If anyone is thinking of reading it, I'd be interested in your thoughts on it. I love Kingsolver, but this one just didn't tick the boxes like her others have.
