Butternut Squash Recipes You’ve Never Tried Before

It’s squash season. If it wasn’t for fear or turning orange, I would serve squash in some shape or form at every meal. Luckily, my squash addiction is under control, and we are going only through a couple of them a week.

My clients love this time of year because the different types of squash allow them to have very satisfying meals.

Squash has fiber, digests slowly and provides amazing satiety for the few calories it has.

It can be a part of a fat loss plan and many people swear by it and...

Three simple tips for better coffee

Make fun of hipsters all you want, but those baristas at the coffee house make great coffee.

Coffee house level coffee might seem hard to make at home, but it’s not. These three simple tips for better coffee will have you brewing like your local barista in no time. Hipster beard not required, but it couldn’t hurt!

Drink Coffee. Not Too Much. Mostly Black.

I’m a health coach, so I wouldn’t be writing about coffee if I didn’t think it was healthy for most people. In fact, Chapter 13 of our late...

Sleep Smarter with Shawn Stevenson

What if I told you the easiest way to lose weight was to go to bed, not go to the gym?

Weird, but true. With better sleep, your mind and body work together to optimize hormone production, physical energy, mental energy, focus, and willpower, all leading to easier, quicker, and more sustainable weight loss.

Is sleeping better really the easiest way to lose weight?

But wait, there’s more. It’s not just weight loss that comes from better sleep, but productivity, more success at work and home, an...

#FullDisclosureFriday – Basic health advice & weird advice

The internet is full of health hacks and advanced fitness advice, but when it comes to basic health advice, sometimes the basics are hard to find.

Full disclosure, one of the most powerful health hacks out there is simply to go back to the basics. Unfortunately, we’ve spent so much time trying to hack ourselves that by today’s standards, the basics can seem weird.

…but hey, I’ll take it!

What to do with figs

Figs are easily one of my top three fruits. In Bulgaria, everyone knows what to do with figs, starting with eating them right off the tree, and if any of them make it home, we just take it from there.

In America, not so much. But many of my clients and readers buy them at the farmers market, then end up asking me what to do with figs, now that they have them.

Figs are a super seasonal fruit, which makes them seem extra irresistible. Good figs can be hard to find, and once you have them you mu...

Yes, coffee is healthy

Have you noticed that the things we love the most in food and drink are often the things most studied? Wine, chocolate, and coffee. We love these foods so much that we can’t help by wonder whether or not they’re actually killing us, much less making us healthier. I’ll let the wine and chocolate lovers make their own excuses write their own articles, while I sleep well knowing that coffee is healthy!

Coffee is one of the most studied foods
