June Is For Vitamin Outdoors

Cravings are part of being human, but cravings go far beyond hunger, thirst, family, and friends. The weather is nice, and you’re craving outdoor time, whether you know it or not.

Humans are used to craving different foods and drinks. We even crave experiences like meeting with friends or going on a road trip.

What makes an experience crave-worthy is uniquely personal, yet many of our desires are deeply driven by a biological need.

For example, thirst, classified as a homeostatic emotion, is...

June is for vitamin Outdoors

Humans are used to craving different foods and drinks, and even experiences like meeting with friends or going on a road trip. What makes an experience crave-worthy is uniquely personal, yet many of our desires are deeply driven by a biological need. For example thirst, classified as a homeostatic emotion, is not a choice, but a physiologically primed behavior. While thirst is quite ordinary and mundane it can be so very pleasurable to quench. No matter how often you’ve had the experience of...

5 days to break free from your chair

Desks, chairs, cars, and all modes of sitting are here to stay. Computers, tablets and smartphones, too…

As much as we have a love-hate relationship with our work tools — chairs and screens included — our bodies are always included in this complex relationship triangle.

In the physical world, what you do most matters most. As Katy Bowman, creator of Nutritious Movement, says:

“It’s not what you do with the best of intentions, it’s what you do most often that counts.”

If you’ve worked with us...

How To Walk More When The Weather Says You Can’t

How’s the weather where you are?

It’s hard to complain about the weather here in Southern California, but my gosh it’s been cold. California Cold, of course, but when we have ice, hail, and snow on the local mountains, it’s cold for us.

Add in weeks of rain, and you get grumpy Californians who never get outside to walk!

My steps have been down, but luckily I have a step counter to keep me honest with myself. Then, I just have to be creative…

Five tips to walk more when the weather says you ca...

Mr Mole Goes to Sleep – The EatMoveLive52 Podcast

Our friends Dr. Mike T Nelson and Jodie Fabulous Nelson are a perfect example of ‘opposites attract.’

And their own Mr. Mole is an example of a perfect way to teach your kids about that thing that they never want to do… SLEEP!

“Mr. Mole is a scientist who reads research for fun . . .”

This is a line from the original children’s book authored by Dr. Mike Nelson, Jodie Nelson, and illustrated by the children and child-like people in their family.

Our friends and authors Jodie Fabulous Nelson...

February Flash Sale!

Good news, we’re doing a 24-hour flash sale!

Good timing, too. I was told that January 12th is the day that most New Year’s Resolutions are forgotten and that past weeks ago.

I get it. Most resolutions start off as big goals, but never get a solid plan to go along with them.

You know our philosophy, it’s the little (and the daily) habits that add up to big things (and successful resolutions) over time.

We can help

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to invest in your health, we’ve got g...

Is working off holiday meals a bad idea?

Is there an idea that sounds more appealing to us as humans as having a “balanced” life?

This notion of balance shows up many places, including within the complex math of balancing meals and exercise. Calories in – calories out, right? Even kids know about this! Ouch!

I used to believe that unless I exercised my food off, my body just wouldn’t do well… but as I’ve stepped back and done some honest observations both of myself over the last 20 years and my coaching clients, I’ve let go of that...

3 steps to better gut health (that aren’t about food at all)

Many of our readers want better gut health, so they focus almost purely on what they eat, drink, and swallow in the form of supplements.

Meanwhile, the solution to better gut health for many lies within the nervous system, the mind, and the emotional state before, during, and after eating.

Better Gut Health Isn’t Always About The Food

So many of our readers and students have made huge strides in eating nourishing whole food, eliminating potentially irritating ingredients, and adjusting to a n...
