10 Ways to Make Your Meals More Mindful

I’ve done my fair share of mindless eating.

Maybe you have, too?

Over the past few months, Galina and I have been talking more and more about mindfulness and mindful eating with our groups.

We like to keep things positive, so instead of focusing on the mindless part, we’re talking about the mindful part.

If you’ve been around here a while, you know Galina and I believe good nutrition and exercise are very important, but sometimes we want to look deeper within ourselves. Maybe take a look with...

Want to feel lighter and have more energy?

A few months ago we did a survey and we asked our readers, students and podcast listeners about the kind of change they want to feel in their bodies. Can you guess what the top three were?

We were not surprised that more than 60% of you wanted to feel lighter, shed a few pounds, and feel better in your skin. Another 70% of you wanted more energy. Self-care was third down on the list.

Then we looked at the main obstacles – while people shared that they loved our book and deeper programs, such...

Movement as Medicine

I’m thrilled to be taking part in the Movement as Medicine online summit, which starts Monday!

It’s free, online, and starts Monday, May 21st, so signup now so you don’t miss a single day!

We all love to move.

It’s innate, intrinsic to life. Just watch kids at play. How many of us, as adults, move with as much joy, curiosity, and as engaged with life as we did as kids?

Modern movement science is reshaping our understanding of the primacy of movement for a happy and healthy human existence. It...

Strawberry rhubarb pudding

Mornings can be a real food test for many of us: I am usually out of the house by 7 and eat a late breakfast at work, and many of my students share that they try to grab something fast and eat it on the way: like a shake or a bar. Saving time in the morning is precious: I would much rather take time to meditate or go for a walk, than cook. I am always looking for new ideas for breakfasts I can make at night and just throw in my cooler bag in the morning on the way to work. In spring and summe...

Spring clean

If you are in the Northern hemisphere, you are probably giddy with joy as you see buds coming out on trees and seeing daffodils, snow-drops, primroses and nasturtiums popping up to say hello from under the snow. We know we are. My morning walk now goes by a jasmine that just makes me drunk with joy way before anyone else on the street is awake, and I can’t wait to come home at night and see how much my lettuce has grown. We are also venturing out and gathering nettles, which nature freely an...

Everyday balance

Just about a week ago, at Be Well Summit, I spoke about Dynamic Aging – opening with the story of the inspiring book, and focusing on many of the key concerns my students have as they age – loss of confidence in the body, dealing with aches, pains and illness, moving with less energy available, and fitting it all in with a busy life.

At the end, I took everyone through several movements that can be done anywhere, anytime, to support balance, coordination, strength and graceful aging. I promis...

Body friendly reading positions

Do you love to read? So do we! There is a beaver-dam-like installation of books on my side of the bed, an overflowing shelf in my studio, and the upstairs bathroom just got its own book-shelf…so there is lots of reading going on at all times in our home and at work.

Whether you read books or prefer electronic devices, reading posture is something to consider. While there are no “good” or “bad” reading postures, the chance is that you may be choosing one that does not support vital functions...
