I loved all your explanations of why you liked NASCAR -- I particularly like redneck soap opera, closet redneck -- you've made me laugh and I hadn't quite swallowed my English muffin.
It's a gorgeous perfect Friday, folks, and you know what that means? All right, you give up so I'll tell you. It's a day to really put in your all, your last chance this work week to really shine -- and believe me, to shine is an amazing thing -- so get in there and mix the pot and accomplish -- Yes, make that a goal today: to accomplish one thing, to make others feel good, admire you, and to make you feel good about yourself and admire yourself. A nice big circle --
Other than your excelling in one nice big thing -- you need to get to the gym -- I know we've been talking exercises and cardio and all that, but it's really time -- if you are able, JOIN a local gym -- look around first, visit, talk to people, see what the gyms have to offer, but it's time to make a commitment. Christmas present, birthday present -- this is really what you want and what your body needs. So, for your mental health, your physical health, for a hot booty -- JOIN A GYM AND GET A TRAINER -- talk to me --

Wednesday: The Celtics are very impressive -- did you see the game last night? They put the pedal to the metal and roared forward -- Since the Cavaliers are really only LeBron, he gets tired -- no wonder. Well, it's now on to Cleveland -- will the Cavs pick it up?

Today, I want you to lie on your back (after you stretch) and do very slow leg lifts -- up and down, up and down, one hand beneath your head, the other hand on your abs to feel the muscles working. Try to keep stable, that is, don't move your pelvis, only the leg going up and down. Got it? And think about the Warriors and send good thoughts --

Tuesday 15th May -- Warriors won last night, game 1. Now we'll see what happens in game 2 manana.
Newsletter and work and writing an acceptance thank you this morning, then off for errands and stuff (there's always stuff) and picking up, finally, the framed THE SIXTH DAY -- can't wait to see it. There was a problem and a substitution -- digits crossed it'll be fine. I'll post a photo.
It looks like LABYRINTH is going to be the title for FBI #23 -- so Chelle Shore, please email me and tell me which book you'd like. And thank you. The rest of you who sent in titles, thank you for the brain time as well -- don't worry, we'll be doing this for every single book in the future --
You know what I want for all of you today? A bit of exercise (well, more than a bit), a sense of accomplishment in what you're doing, and last but not least, a solid moment of awareness sometime during the day that it's wonderful to be alive and on our beautiful earth, followed by a BIG SMILE.

Friday and it's sunny and gorgeous here in Sausalito, the 23rd FBI is coming right along -- Wait 'til you meet Sheriff Booker Bodine. Labyrinth is still working title -- so if you have ideas, POST THEM.
Peyton and Eli -- their birthday cakes (they each got one) were cans of Sheba -- salmon -- they never have it because, frankly, it's like kittie crack and it'll harden their arteries, just like a yummy birthday cake, if we ate it every day, would wipe us out. They thought they'd won the lottery. Yes, you're right, this morning, they were dancing around, BEGGING, ah, but to no avail. One must be strong, one must hold the line. Do you know, though, I've never told them they needed to keep their shoulder blades back. They both have great sinuous posture. Does anyone out there have a Savannah cat? If so, post photos -- they look amaing. I read the first cross-breeding in cats was in the 1870's. I do not swear to that, okay?
Now, commitment time: It's Friday, last day of the week and a big Physical day -- so, with SBB, CARDIO, fast, slow, fast, slow -- make your heart deliriously happy -- then pump some iron, or lift some cans of peas. But really, guys, if you don't have any 5-pound free weights, BUY THEM, they're very cheap. Go forth and show the world how smart, focused, committed you are --

Today Eli and Peyton are 10 years old -- and isn't that a whack to the timeline. Ten years. They're both fat and happy and my digits are crossed they continue healthy. Their birthday cake? I gotta think about that.

First thing when you look up and see the sign on your computer -- SHOULDER BLADES BACK. I can't tell yo how important this is -- keeping your spine straight, your body aligned. Today, stretch, stretch, be gentle, get everything, then CARDIO -- it's Thursday, always a special cardio day.

No more writing April, no, my feet are firmly planted in May even though it only has one pathetic syllable unlike September, say, with three meaty syllables. I considered brain acupuncture to stop my writing April instead of May, but your comments seem to have righted my month synapses.
Today, is gym day -- or the YMCA -- or any exercise facility you have locally. You need this, everyone needs this, not only the working out but the interaction with all the others there to keep healthy. Here's the WORD: Exercise, a positive attitude, pets and enough tacos and you'll live to be one hundred. Trust me on this. Don't forget SHOULDER BLADES BACK.

There's still snow out there -- this is unacceptable. What do you do? Grit your teeth while you put on your coat and scarf in MAY and try to bear it stoically? Nah, complain bitterly, that should make you feel better. It also sounds like those with physical problems are improving, always good to hear.
Sent in the second pass pages for PARADOX yesterday -- huge YEA! But you know, if I were to read the galleys again next week, say, I'd find more stuff. Nature of the beast, I guess. You're really going to like this one -- If you haven't read KNOCKOUT in a while (or never -- BOO), read before you read PARADOX (out July 31st) -- You'll see why. Not necessary to do so, but it will add something.

This is a perfect day to bid a fond adieu to this lovely week by sweating and elevating your heart and pumping those legs, and doing arm rolls to kill arm fat -- do those every single day in front of your mirror -- you'll see a diff. in a couple of weeks, just in time for swim suit season.

Still working on the second pass on galleys for PARADOX -- more errors, corrections, small rewrites -- but will finish tomorrow morning. Hopefully today --
I gotta say, all of you are sounding positive, things getting better, you're loving that Spring has finally arrived. Tell me, I can take it, any more snow storms in May where you are? If so, I will send travel minions to move you to warmer climes -- it's still cool here in Sausalito -- which I love -- so no complaints.
Today, the day before the last day of the week (ALREADY), I want you to do snooze time. Butt against the wall, legs up as straight as you can get them, and relax your shoulders into the floor and RELAX the rest of you after the shoulders. Simply melt into the floor. When you're all nice and leveled out, then start with your toes and move them back and forth, then feet, then ankles, moving up, up, up -- and finally your brain. Now this is important: You want to talk to your brain, tell it it's time to really get focused and moving forward. Think of one thing you really want to do but haven't done, maybe no time, procrastinating, whatever, and then when you get up and stretch and your brain is sparking -- DO IT.

Wednesday -- Facebook is behaving again -- I sometimes wonder who's driving the bus and given what's happened, is there anyone driving that bus. Changes are certainly in order, but it seems to me it's the old 'close the barn door after the goat already got out.' What do you think?
Guess what? I spent yesterday, and will spend today and tomorrow going over PARADOX (22nd FBI with S&S) pages one last time. And guess what else? I've already found small problems with 20-30 pages. My theory, as I've told you, is that an error gets into the manuscript and breeds. We're talking triplets and quintuplet errors here -- Phew!
Today when I manage to get away from nose to the grindstone on those pages is to get to the gym and work out HARD -- changes focus, sparks brain cells, makes synapses fire -- all good things. So, after you stretch, think about "deconstipating" your brain and body and attitude -- Cardio and pump iron -- or maybe instead of pumping, you can lift some free weights, okay?

Monday was a fine day for me, for you as well, I hope. Tonight the Warriors play the Pelicans, Game 2 of the semi-finals -- watch if you can. Back east the game is very late, 10:30 p.m. since it's played here in Oakland. But if you watch, please hoot and holler for the Warriors. Curry will be back -- after 6 weeks with a torn ACL.
Right now, the working title for FBI Number 23 is LABYRINTH -- If you'd like to give me more titles, please do. Love and singing, that's the best --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
